Undersized? Taking a look at this year's sack leaders for DE's and their weights... Abraham - 263 lbs - 16.5 sacks Allen - 270 lbs - 14.5 sacks Tuck - 274 lbs - 12 sacks Umenyiora - 261 lbs Mathis - 245 lbs - 11.5 sacks Freeney - 268 lbs Howard - 260 lbs Kampman - 265 lbs Cole - 270 lbs There are plenty of pass rushers that do not exceed 270 lbs, and plenty of them in the 260 range. Most of the DEs coming out, like Prakpo and Brown, are already in the 250+ range, so theres no reason to believe that they can't be effective as a 4-3 DE in the NFL. Also, mario williams is listed at 283, NOT 291.

No, you're getting TKO, because he was one of the biggest playmaking LBs in the game prior to his injury. You're getting Fletcher. Sam Adams. Lawyer Milloy. Buffalo traditionally doesn't go after the highest priced free agents. But if we did, it would come down to money as it does 99% of the time with players.
-
How does a free agent supposedly not wanting to come here affect how much we can offer them? Your argument makes no sense.
-
So no one wants to go to indy either? I fail to see how some 2nd tier player not choosing to come here means no one wants to come here. Perhaps he was going to a team where he felt he's have a better chance at more playing time. Maybe he wanted to play in a 3-4 defense. If everyone hates it here, why did Evans re-sign? You'd think he would have liked ot hit the fre agent market to get out of buffalo. Why did mitchell sign last year? Big name free agents go where the $ is first. Suggs and Peppers aren't coming here, not because they think buffalo sucks, but because buffalo wont pony up the $ it takes to bring the huge names in.

Caldwell the Most impressive Center at Senior Bowl?
Ramius replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Isn't that title equivalent to having the most expensive trailer in the trailer park? -
Its a win-win situation for a lot of you guys. We dont sign him, and you get to bash the front office for not signing him, not doing their job, blah, blah, blah. But, if we overpaid for him (as was suggested), they you guys get to B word that the front office sucks because they overpay for mediocre players. And wouldn't this mean polian is an idiot, because wake didn't sign with the colts?

I believe its more of a lack of options. With McCoy and Bradford returning, Sanchez declared and instantly became the #2 QB on the board.
-
Yeah, but somehow they end up looking like the smart ones for knowing to get the hell out of dodge when the situation is looking bleak.
-
Well, using VABills math, those 2 are roughly equivalent.

When Carr lit it up as a freshman down here, lots of people got excited. However, as was mentioned, he never progressed or developed a full set of game skills. If all he has to do is run a fly or a fade and out-jump some DB, he's fantastic. The rest of his game leaves lots to be desired. People were caught up in the eye-popping amount of TDs he scored. Unfortunately, he rarely did anything else. But, as i said, he's worth bringing in as a UDFA, or perhaps spending a late 7th on. See if someone can't get the kid motivated, or at the very least put him on the field in some jump ball situations (like we were supposed to do with Hardy this year).
-
I actually like the mock, up until round 5. You wanna bring in Carr as a a UDFA, fine. But the kid is the biggest waste of God-given talent on the planet. He's got the size and natural athletic ability to be an absolutely dominant WR. At 6'6" he can and does out jump everyone for the ball. He'd be a hell of a red zone target, and he's the #2 TD scorer in FSU history for WRs. But the kid lacks heart and desire. He's never turned into a big game WR down here because the desire isn't there. You always hear tidbits about him dogging it in practice. He runs crappy routes and has been known to take plays off if the ball isn't going to him. He's a lazy ass with a bad football attitude. He's got no work ethic. Now, if the right person came along and somehow managed to light a fire under his ass and get him to play to his potential, he could be unstoppable. The sky is the limit for the kid, but unfortunately he doesn't want it.

Just say NO to greg carr.

No way does dick jauron win anything in tampa. If DJ led that Buccs team, they fold like a lawn chair against the iggles in the NFC championship.

I was watching NFL netwaork this lazy afternoon and they had the cardinals press conference on. I was amazed by Kurt Warner's attitude when asked about the Boldin confrontation and his own confrontation with OC Todd Haley during the 1st quarter of yesterday's game. Warner's answer displayed just how far off buffalo is from being a true contender and just how much the loser mentality has permeated the entire organization. Warner said, and i'm paraphrasing, "We're not here to make friends (with the coaches) on the sidelines. We're here to win. I may not agree with the staff at all times, but all i can ask from them is that they are doing whatever they can to make me (us) become the best players we can be, and that they put us in the best position to win the game. Its not always warm and friendly among us, but in the end when its over, i know they are getting the best out of us." He continued with, "Coaches are like parents in a way. They aren't supposed to be your friends and there are going to be lots of disagreements, but their job is to prep you to perform the best you can in the next stage of your life. Thats what our coaches have been doing. " Contrast this to a loser like Chris Kelsay with his talk of, "We all love Dick Jauron and everyone is happy to play for him. He's everyone's friend and he's there to pat me on the back and take me for ice cream when i have a bad day." The Bills organization is a mess, and is starts with the attitude. Some team simply do not accept failure. Unfortunately, Buffalo isn't one of them.

Looks like the NFL has no problem with dirty hits
Ramius replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You cannot lead with thr crown of your helmet, no matter the position on the field. Clark and Sweed should both be fined, if not suspended for 2 illegal hits. -
I'm not being offered anything. A friend is switching from cable to direcTV, and thus needs to change their internet. They can get DSL in their area, but simply asked me if i had heard anything about this, because at $40 per month, its a little cheaper than phone+DSL. http://www.direcTV.net (at the bottom of the page)

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that Limas Sweed lead with the crown of his helmet on his helmet-to-helmet block on corey ivy. Clark also lead with the helmet on the McGahee hit. Both players should be fined at the very least if not suspended. Or, more likely, the league only cares about their big $ players, so they won't do squat. But you can bet your ass that if Peyton or Brady had taken a shot like those 2 yesterday, the defenders would have been suspended on the spot. -
Pittsburgh fans form the area tend to be great die-hard fans. Out of towner stiller fans tend to be obnoxious a-holes. When i was at the '04 debacle in the finale against the stillers, i spent the game talking with a couple of guys from pittsburgh and we had a great time. Contrast that to the Steelers backers' club down here in tallahassee, who got kicked out of their bar because a bunch of "tough" guys threatened a waitress and told her they were gonna wait for her in the parking lot of the bar and kick her ass when her shift got out.
-
Does anyone here have an experience with DirecTV internet? Any comments on reliability, service, etc? For $40 a month, its cheaper than most DSL/cable modems. I'm just taking a cursory look into it at this point. Thanks in advance.

No way we would get gruden. We wouldn't want to hurt poor wittle cwis kelsay's feeling's when he gets yelled at for sucking.

The Tampa-2 doesn't solely "rely on the offense making a mistake." It is predicated on making the opposing offense go 12+ plays anytime they want to score. First off, that increases the chances of the offense making a mistake. And then the defense is geared to make a play on any 1 or 2 of those offensive plays, effectively ending the drive. The defense is based on the fact that somewhere in that long drive, they are going to get a sack, drop the RB for a 4 yard loss, force a bad throw/INT, force a penalty, and effectively end the drive. Over the course of the game, more often than not, something is going to happen to end the offensive series. Also with the T-2 defense, forget about the opposition coming back from a 2 score deficit in the latter stages of the game.
-
If JP is still winning games and slinging TD bombs when he's 135, even you'll be impressed.
-
I dont care what type of defense you run; Tampa-2, 4-3, 3-4, etc, good defenses get pressure on the QB with a few men as possible (4-5). The Bills can switch to whatever formation/scheme we want, but until we can generate consistent pressure without having to send 6-7 guys all the time, we aren't going to be a top tier defense. Each defense relies on pressure from different places (ie-the OLB in the 3-4), and each defense has a few key positions where you most likely need a top player to be good (NT in the 3-4, UT in the Tampa-2). If you get those players in those key positions, your defense will most likely take off and be good, regardless of whatever scheme you chose to run. There's actually something to be said about going against the grainof what the rest of the NFL is doing. Reason being is that lots of teams running similar defenses means lots of teams going after similar players in the draft. Why did Tampa get so good running the Tampa-2? Because they got skilled players that weren't fits in the traditional 3-4 and 4-3 defenses. Teams were shying away from the "smaller" players, so all that talent was there for the picking. With so many teams switching to the 3-4 now, that means that big NTs and pass rushing OLBs are going to be all the rage. That could cause talent fit for other defenses to drop further than expected.

USC QB Mark Sanchez set to declare for the draft
Ramius replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bust or not, he's in line to make millions, since he'll be the second QB off the board. I have no clue how well he'll turn out in the pros, but its a smart decision for him financially, regardless of how he turns out. And maybe, this benefits him. Instead of going to a crap team in the top 10, perhaps some team drafting in the bottom 12 will draft him with the intention on developing over a couple of years, like Gruden and the Buccs.
