  1. I'm in no hurry. I just got my PS3 a few weeks ago as well after many long years on the PS2.
  2. Thanks. I'll hafta learn how to play the DE position. For the past few years on madden, i usually play one of the safeties and help out in coverage. Perhaps i'll start playing as a DE again and let the CPU worry about coverage. I have Maybin starting as OLB. I put kelsay on the trade block, and the broncos offered me robert ayers. I made the deal, moved Ayers from OLB to DE (he jumps from a 74 to 82) and moved maybin from DE to OLB in place of ellison. Maybin drops to a 61 at OLB for some odd reason even though he has similar ratings to Ellison. Also, who here is on the PS3? Anyone potentially interested in playing an online franchise? I'd be thinking of a slower play rate, shooting for giving everyone 5-6 days to finish their game for the week.
  3. No, but given previous draft picks, there's no logical reason to believe the Bills are low balling maybin.
  4. Rosters are set at the time you start the franchise. If you want current rosters after you start franchise, you need to start all over again. When you get the updates, it will save as a file named something like Roster- Online132850 or whatever. I then tinker with the rosters and re-save them as "Ramius" or something. If you download another update in a month or so, i believe it will overwrite the online roster, but NOT your own re-saved one. The problem is, if you grab new rosters in another month or so, you can use those, but as fa as i nkow, there's no way to merge roster files. Its one or the other. For example, in my saved rosters i created a few of the Bills not in the game, like Lankster, Stupar, etc. If i get a new update in a month, it wont have my created players and there's no way to merge them with the new file. So I'd have the choice of using either the new online update (without created players), or my old tinkered rosters (with created players). Hope this helps. PM me if there' anything else you want to know.
  5. Its really easy. Run the EA Network set up from the PS3 home screen. It'll detect your network and then prompt you to create a login/password. Follow all the steps and it will register you. Then from the MAdden game home menu, go to online. Again, follow instructions. To get the latest rosters, just attempt to play any type of game and it will prompt you to save the latest rosters. After, I'd also recommend saving them to your PS3 as a different roster name so it defaults to that when you play.
  6. Bogus. This is all on Maybin. The Bills have had little problems signing the #8, #12, and #11 picks in recent years to appropriately slotted contracts. Why all of a sudden this year would they change their tactic and decide to lowball Maybin? The simplest and most likely explanation here is that the Bills have offered an appropriately slotted #11 contract (based on Moreno and Raji), and Maybin is simply being a greedy prick who wants more money than his slotting.
  7. Just a few quick qualms with the game. Anyone else run into these? 1. Some computer players seemingly can run S-curves through the defense like they are weaving around orange traffic cones. I was playing the Saints yesterday and reggie bush S-curved around 7 of my defenders for a TD and none of them put a hand on him. 2. Through 3 season games, i have exactly 1 sack with the Bills. It seems that at least a half a dozen times per game, i should have a sack, but the QB somehow "gets the pass off" and it falls 2 feet away for an incomplete. Not all of them should be sacks, but the CPU seemingly knows how to "get rid of the ball" at the last microsecond prior to a sack. However, this game seems a lot more realistic that others. Twice in the saints game they blew a coverage and TO was wide open for a quick 10 yard pass that turned into a long TD.
  8. Keep telling yourself you're not a pats* troll.
  9. I was watching at that point, but was in the kitchen making dinner so i couldn't hear the TV too well. When i saw the play, i wasn't infuriated, i just kinda shook my head and laughed. Some things never change.
  10. Lets assume for a second that the 49ers decide to cave and pay Crabtree more than his slotted amount, something along the lines of Heyward-Bey's deal. Does anyone think, for even a second, the Ralph is going to pay Maybin more because of crabtree? Hell no. Ralph is going to tell Maybin to take the #11 money and like it. Maybin will get what the #11 pick is slotted for, something like 5-25-15, and not a penny more. The sooner he accepts this, the sooner we cal all move on. Note: This is NOT a Ralph is cheap spiel. This is pointing out the fact that Ralph decides who gets paid how much, and when they get paid. You get paid what Ralph wants to pay you when ralph wants to pay you. He's not going to break the slotting system for some whiny sniveling B word of a rookie. It didnt work for Peters, and its not going to work for Maybin.
  11. I was calling for Orakpo or Ayers on draft day and did not like the Maybin pick at all.
  12. Thank you. And that "play not to lose" mentality is always going to inevitably going to sink the Bills and jauron. The Bills and the jauron supporters can say what they want about things changing, but (and i'm sure it didn't elude you, Lori) in the first quarter of last weekend's Bears game, i saw the Bills face a 3rd and G from the 12? yard line and what did jauron do? Run the ball into the middle of the line and settle for the FG. Then didn't even consider going for the endzone. That scaredy cat coaching is going to cost us every time. What does it say about the coach when he only uses 2 downs to try and advance the ball?
  13. I'm sure she got a rock. Probably an actual rock, however, as diamonds likely hadn't been discovered. Even if they had, the tools to cut and set diamonds were still centuries away from being invented.
  14. Try to understand the little "study" before you spout off on what it says. It is comparing the most healthful foods, which are obviously the most expensive. I was referring to reasonably healthy foods as i have outlined numerous times above, which isn't that much more expensive than junk food. I also noticed in the study that one guy says he had a tough time living on the food stamp allowance of $6 per person per day. So for 2 people, the food stamp allowance gives them $84 per week. Funny thing is, the girlfriend and i usually spend about $100 per week on food, slightly above the food stamp allowance. The food we buy is fairly healthy, and very good tasting. We have veggies with every meal. (a few fresh and the rest frozen) And we usually have enough leftovers that i take for lunch the next day. But lets pretend that decent food that will keep you healthy is soooo expensive. I guess its too much to ask someone to spend 30 minutes planning a menu and making a shopping list for the week, along with clipping some coupons/buying sale items to save some $.
  15. I'm not assuming the typical american is smart. There's too much evidence to the contrary. However, being stupid doesn't make food more expensive. As chef jim said, just because junk food is cheap doesn't mean reasonably healthy food is unaffordable.
  16. But its not. I don't give a rat's ass what some random study shows. (Especially when the study is comparing the most healthful food, not to mention these people were trying to eat on $1 per day) I have no problem eating relatively healthy on a tight budget. Frozen/canned veggies aren't as healthy fresh ones, but they'll work just fine for people on a budget, and are still fairly healthy. And i am using anecdotal evidence, because that's what the price of food costs. Sure, prices may differ slightly in different areas of the country, but frozen chicken breast isn't $7 in one place and $25 in another. Reasonably healthy meals can be had for not much more than crap junk food.
  17. Since you have trouble reading, i'll repeat myself from above.
  18. I call bull sh--. What is causing America to be fat is people eating too much and not getting off their lazy asses to exercise. The "eating healthy is too expensive" excuse is bull sh-- too. It's not that difficult to take 30 minutes and make a menu for the week along with a shopping list on a budget. Instead of the $7 frozen pizza, try getting a bag of frozen chicken breast. Its about $7 for a 2.5 lb bag. Combine that with a $1.50 bag of frozen veggies and a $2 box of rice, and you've got a reasonably healthy meal for 4 for about $10. Don't want bland chicken? Can't afford a cook book? Go online and take 30 seconds to look up some simple recipes to flavor the dish. Some spices are expensive, but the grocery stores down here usually have a variety of spices on the dollar rack. Or since veggies are "too expensive," try this. Spend about $2 for a packet of seeds in the spring. Plant a garden. Tomatoes, peppers, squash, beans, etc will give you a hell of a return on your investment. And planting and maintaining the garden will actually get you off your fat ass and help you burn a few calories. This can be done in an apartment too, with a simple box planter. You can grow a handful of veggies from a balcony. 99.9% of the obesity issues in america come from nothing more than pure laziness. Sure, you could cook a healthy meal, but its 7:45 and american idol starts in 15 minutes, so you'd better just grab mickey D's.
  19. I got the online roster update this past weekend, and regarding the Bills, Wood was moved to RG, Levitre to LG, Butler to RT. You'll have to change the depth chart however as wood and levitre are backups. They also got rid of jenkins and added Stevie Johnson, and moved Whitner to FS instead of SS. If you want, Hamdan and Ellis are FAs. EDIT: i'm on the ps3 as well. Let me know if you wanna play online sometime.
  20. Well, i dont think dick jauron can count to 4 either, considering how many "give up" plays we run on third down. Dickie feels like you only have 2 downs to get the first and the 3rd play is reserved to set your team up for the punt or FG.
  21. Vick awareness and pass accuracy should both be negative.
  22. DML, you're bring a stick in the mud. The kid was pumped up on his own sideline and excited about making a good play. I want to see more excitement and emotion from our players. It shows that they actually give a crap whats going on, and if they win or lose, unlike our coaches. As long as he isn't tauting the other team or drawing flags, more power to him.
  23. Not to mention in the SF game, you have the absolutely mind boggling decision to give your RB (who is averaging 9+ YPC) exactly 1 carry in the final 20-25 minutes of a 1 score game. But i guess that's somehow the players' fault.
  24. Got madden on friday night and got a chance to play it, and the game is awesome. i'm really impressed at EA's offering this year. I finally made the jump from next gen (went from PS2 to PS3), and i love it. The game is much more difficult and much more realistic. I like how a pocket actually forms and you can step up and throw instead of the old "run around and chuck it" method. The stretched out ratings make a big difference in the game play as well, and star power really matters. No more 15-1 regular seasons with an easy run to the S.B. I'm going to get into franchise this week, so we'll see how that goes. I messed around with it a little bit, and i've got to learn to like scouting. (its better than the stupid "scouting drills" from old madden), but do i really need to know a guy's injury rating?
  25. Asomugha is far and away the best corner in the league.
