As long as the guy with his pecker hanging out isn't cooking the food, not much gonna keep me from my plate. All the drug addicts, hookers and pimps slumped over on the tables was part of it's charm.

Rex Ryan deserves much credit
ajzepp replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Three of the most impressive defenses I've ever seen have been the "46" ('85 Bears, Buddy Ryan Eagles, Buddy Ryan Oilers), so for that reason alone I'm glad Rex is a head coach in this league. (And I'm also glad his brother is actively coaching.) I'll take it a step further, though, and say that as much as I hate the Jets, I think people like Rex Ryan are good for the NFL. Sometimes this league can be too sterile, and as someone who enjoys trash talk and bulletin board material, I like that we have someone who is outspoken and not afraid to show some balls. I"m not saying I want the NFL to be like pro wrestling, but this is a violent game played by men and there is plenty of room for some trash talk and gamesmanship. This is one reason why I wanted us to sign a guy like Haslett several years ago. Not only is he passionate about the team and the area, he's not afraid to speak his mind an throw down. And as we saw, hiring all these morons in lieu of Haz didn't really get us anywhere anyway....we could have at least been having some fun while we were losing every year. I don't care that Rex likes him some toe jam....or that he likes to watch his wife "take a real big one" from time to time...he's not breaking any laws for cripes sake. -
Wow, I had to settle for McDonalds when I was there...and Tony Romas where I worked, but Im sure they're long gone
-
wow, there's one in Henrietta now? I lived right on E.Henrietta rd for a while....that would have been amazing to have Tahoe's so close.

Per usual, I plan to make another unsuccessful attempt at being there...hot plate, extra sauce.

Will Chan spring the no huddle on the Jets.
ajzepp replied to Tom stahl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, Chan needs to get some therapy for his passing fetish...we have arguably the best RB tandem in the league and an Oline that can bust open some holes....we also have a D that should be able to be a strength instead of a liability....we need to RUN THE BALL. -

I think the Jets are not as good as they think they are and Im confident we're going to get some turnovers. For that reason, I'd like to see us run a very conservative game plan that focuses on the ground game. -
It's time to walk the Green Mile - Michael Clarke Duncan died
ajzepp replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
LOL, that's great... I have to give the guy credit for an ice breaker, while I"m thinking about it. I was on a first date when I saw Armageddon. There was a scene toward the beginning where the government had helicopters and an entire fleet of cars trying to track down MCD's character. He was on his harley going about 100mph thinking they were trying to capture him, so he was running like hell. All of a sudden they cut to him and he goes, "COME AND GET PAPA BEAR!!" I don't know why, but she and I thought this was so funny the way he delivered it...we both started laughing hysterically and it really allowed the rest of the time we spent together that day to go smoothly. Good times. -

This is really sad...I don't have a lot of "insider knowldge" like a few of you do here, but I do know someone who spent a lot of time with MCD in the 90s. From what he said, this guy was truly the gentle giant that people think he is. Very smart, almost always in a good mood, and a good friend. This was even back (I think) when he was doing security work, so he probably had a lot of stress going on. Anyway, I never met the guy but I enjoyed seeing him on the big screen. RIP big guy -

Does anyone else think that another aspect of the fly scene early on was how Walt was initially fixated on it as before, but this time he eventually disregarded it and sort of forgot about it? Not really a typical element of foreshadowing, but maybe sort of setting the stage in terms of how Walt's obsession over creating an empire has taken over to the point where some past obsessions have been pushed out of the way? -

Yeppers, and I just read on another site that they thought Gale was sort of practicing what he was goign to write in the book in his notebook so he got it right the first time....so after Gale was taken care of and Hank got hold of some of the evidence, he found Gales notebooks. So then when he found the book in Walts crapper, he saw not just the W.W., but also the very same inscription that he saw in the notebook. That seems to make sense to me, but maybe some of the folks with better memories than we have can confirm lol -

Same here...I know it had something to do with Gale, and that was confirmed when it was signed with Gale's initials in the book, but I forget how Hank was involved. That huge stack of money was really something, though...can you imagine those guys on Storage Wars opening up a locker and finding THAT? haha -

Thanks! BTW, re: tonights episode and the book...I'm having trouble remembering the specifics of that scene where Hank reads the inscription and the W.W. initials. Was the W.W. written in Gale's notebooks, and then Hank saw the same W.W. in the book while on the shitter? Or did Hank have that actual book previously? I'm assuming it was Gales notebooks Hank saw, cause it woudn't make any sense for Hank to have had the book and now Walt has it. So it was the notebook, right? -

There is ANOTHER show on AMC that kicks ass? I've never even heard of Hell on Wheels... Oh, and screw you Gilligan!!! I'm NOT going back and re-watching that damn fly episode, I don't care how obvious you make the reference!!! I do need to go back to that scene with regard to W.W., though...anyone know what episode that was? -
Let's just agree to disagree, man...the responses you're making aren't really matching up to what I'm saying, so I'm probably just not being clear enough or something. I've read enough of your posts to know you understand the game, so clearly you realize that if you're going to choose to pressure the QB it's a risky proposition. If you aren't successful with the blitzing, then you leave yourself vulnerable in coverage....some QBs will absolutely kill you, others will fall victim to the pressure. With all the rule changes that favor the receivers, the pass rush is arguably more important now than ever before. QBs who can make pre-snap reads and use their audibles or hot routes effectively will create a situation where the defense is at a disadvantage by blitzing. QBs who can't will take sacks, fumble it away, or throw a crap pass. I happen to put a lot of weight in this ability....you may not. I don't really see how what the QB "wants" is material at all...I'm quite sure Brady would love to have plenty of time behind a solid Oline like he's had most of his career. As for ben, defenses DON'T blitz him all the time. Obivously it varies from opponent to opponent and situation to situation. If you think you can put Ben on his ass, then you better be sure, cause otherwise he'll do something like what he did to us from the end zone in that preseason game. Or he'll hit Santonio Holmes at the very back of the end zone for a TD to win the super bowl over the Cards. In the words of Yoda, there is no try...

Who is the Jets best player?
ajzepp replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with what the six pack said about Holmes, but if we're talking about just the best, most talented player excluding any off the field stuff or whatever, I'd go with Holmes. The guy has just made some sick catches, and he's also a clutch performer when he needs to be. I thought the Steelers were nuts for taking him away from Ben. That was a deadly duo. Sanchez just can't utilize him to the best of his ability (thank goodness for us) -
That's just not correct, man...if I were only judging Brady in one aspect I'd consider him one of the worst QBs of all time. As I said earlier in the thread, I consider him ONE of the greatest, maybe top 10, but absolutely not THE greatest. I fully recognize the other aspects of his game that are top notch. I simply consider this a fatal flaw that will prevent him from ever being someone I view as the best QB to ever play.

Astro: How can you not give props to my boy, and future Hall of Fame QB for the Buffalo Bills, Georgia QB Aaron Murray?
-
That makes absolutely no sense, Joe. NOBODY's average is good from half court in the NBA. In the NFL there are QBs who overcome and sometimes even thrive against a pass rush on a regular basis, and even more so when it's a big game such as during the playoffs. It's not some magic flying dinosaur like having a strong half court game in the NBA lol. I don't get the point about it being one aspect, either...that's what you do when you break down a player and make an argument as to whether he's the greatest...you analyze different aspects of their game, point out strengths and weaknesses, etc....and when there is a weakness that literally transforms them from a great QB to an average, or even below average, QB, then that is a very significant weakness.
-
We're not talking about a lot of people. We're talking about whether Tom Brady is the greatest ever. So if you're going to group him in with "a whole lot of people" then obviously he's not the greatest.
-
The same point that I and a few others have been making over and over....Brady can't beat a pass rush.
-
Good point. this is already Stevie's fifth season. Even Moulds didn't come in here and kill it right away...it wasn't until about his third season when he started being productive... and he was a first round pick. I trust the staff that they believe this kid deserves to stick around a bit longer. And like Graybeard said, it's good to have a receiver or two on the PS who know the offense and can jump up to an active spot if need be.

Good article on UDFA S Delano Howell making the team
ajzepp replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know why, but I have a weird feeling this guy is going to make a huge play for us this season...like one of those plays we'll talk about long after it happens.
