  1. No, but bringing in someone who could run a similar scheme but who wouldn't mail it in like Rex did would've been a better approach. Lynn as HC and Wade as DC, for instance...
  2. They play the offseason so well for this fanbase: sell hope beginning in February, ratchet up the enthusiasm leading up to the draft, market the new faces like crazy to maximize ticket sales, then start cutting losses in July and August. Folks are so drunk on game day and so used to the losing that they barely care or notice being separated from their wallets, and they climb right back in line as soon as the playoffs are over.
  3. Nonsense. Ralph authorized a few splash signings and then shed salaries in August (Langston Walker) when he decided that the team wasn't going to win the Super Bowl, so why spend the money. And he was notoriously stingy with his coaches and staff. Are Bills fans so freakin' stupid that they fall for this stuff over and over again? Seriously this fanbase seems to be more prone to circus barking than any consumer group in the universe. In fact - my first reaction to these trades was that this is Ralph all over again - shedding talent on the eve of the season, after the season ticket sales are all sewn up. It's cruel and unusual punishment that Bills fans seem to sign up for year after year.
  4. This is hilarious, coming from you.
  5. That's the part that is still getting to me, 3 days later, and will probably continue to eat at me for quite awhile. The Bills don't seem to be in the business of winning games, fine, I've learned to live with that. But at the very least it was a joy to watch an elite athlete like Sammy on otherwise miserable Sunday afternoons during otherwise miserable seasons. BUT NOW THEY WON'T EVEN LET ME HAVE THAT. And you well know that most of the folks around here who are defending the moves will be bitching and moaning in high throttle after the first few games of watching a flaccid offense featuring 4-yard rollout passes to a fullback.
  6. If Flacco's back goes out or Carson Palmer blows out another ACL before the trade deadline...
  7. Agreed - he probably already texted with a couple of guys (Wood and McCoy are my guesses) but was asked not to disclose that, so he wrote it as something he "surmises."
  8. Can you push yourself to try a bit harder?
  9. Well, one thing it would do is take pressure off of his coach...
  10. They could very well have been showcasing him Kelly - but I also think it's very possible that Dennison was actually trying to install an offense around his best player... either way it's depressing, honestly. I'm still very, very upset about this trade.
  11. I thought he said that they had discussed generally the idea of the trade before the game, but didn't discuss until after the game the specific trade in question.
  12. It's just Bills Fan Sour Grapes. We hear it all the time at TBD.
  13. I'm not sure many of the fans here even care about the "playing" part. Being a Bills fan has become all about the draft - it's just a twisted version fantasy football.
  14. Leverage of a 5th year option (whoops) and two consecutive franchise tags (oops).
  15. Yup. Kick all of the talented players off of the team and start from scratch to rebuild the culture. It worked for Pol Pot...
  16. Also - not for nothing - the architect of that "top 5 D" JUST TRADED FOR DARBY, who he views as a perfect fit for his 4-3 scheme. These "justifications" are killing me. Nope, just load up the roster with a bunch of lunch-pail, run-through-a-wall soldiers and saints and COACH 'EM UP!
  17. I can't believe he had the stones to do this in his first half offseason.
  18. Stop changing schemes every freaking two years.
  19. Unbelievable. This team hasn't hit on a "gamble" since drafting Thurman.
  20. They were not forced to let go of Big Pat. Donahoe got an idea in his head that he could find a replacement.
  21. If their plan is a possession passing scheme than they're DOA. Tyrod is at his best playing a sandlot style with deep quick-strike options, which Sammy was perfect for. Trying to stuff this offense into a short-passing, tempo-based possession system is going to be a disaster. It'll be like what Rex did to the defense - negating strengths and requiring a full personnel rebuild. This is so depressing.
  22. It was a "huge problem" of the Bills' own making and there were better ways to solve it.
