It effectively destroys his trade value to a point where the return wouldn't be worth Beane moving him to another team over keeping him. Making it so that we either pay him what he wants or we let him hit an open market in Free Agency next year.

The Packers offering a high pick and a young receiver is a big offer to beat though. If they're offering a 1st (which is better than ours) and a Christian Watson or Romeo Doubs (if they want a WR in return) - I don't know that we'd be able to (or willing to) top that.

We had the NFL MVP last season. But our roster wasn't anywhere CLOSE to the roster Philly had. You forget last season was considered a soft rebuild. The issue with extending Rousseau to me is two fold: 1.) Everyone is clamoring for a big name DE. And if you're paying big money for a Garrett or Crosby or Parsons, etc. - you're not then going to turn around and pay big money for Groot too. 2.) If Groot were playing at a level worthy of the contract I expect he'll command - people wouldn't be clamoring for a big time DE this offseason as they are.

It is. I was just talking to my Dad about when it comes to Beane's words, he's always going to give a diplomatic or non-answer and that you have to read between the lines. This isn't much of a read between the lines situation. Like you've said, I've never heard him flat out say "we're not on the same page right now". To me, that seemed like he was putting it out there to see if it would illicit other GM's approaching him about a Trade. Not to say that Cook can't or won't be retained. But it felt like something he threw out into the ether to get a look at all of his options.

I don't think the Poll matches the Title. You ask if it's Trade or Disappointment and then the poll is address via Trade or Draft. I think the Offseason can go without a big DE trade and not be a disappointment. But it would depend on what they did instead.

The small percentage of fans that are for some reason pissed off and personally insulted and especially the ones that are hurling insults - do need to get a grip.

No, it isn't. It's what a large number of players do in negotiations every single year. Just as often as the player doing that moving on - the negotiations get gets worked out, the player stays, and the social media is restored. Taking offense to it and viewing it as a personal FU to you is cringe, imo. If he was truly offended, he wouldn't gush about his growth. It's just be "James is a very good player and we'll see what happens on the business side.

That's a Beane question. To which he's already been asked. Pointed to the offense overall performing better after his addition and said he doesn't regret the move.

I was going to say, I didn't think it was possible for someone 50 or younger to not have at least heard of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There's been 6 studio movies. I don't think the 42 Dislikes are for re-signing James Cook. The 42 Dislikes (or at least most of them) have to do with you saying he's worth 15m a year and they should pay him 15m a year. If they do re-sign him, it won't be at 15m a year.

Pegula would do whatever it took to make him happy. If he said "I can't work with this Head Coach and/or General Manager and I want out" - they're gone. When I see people talk about firing McDermott or Beane lately, I often say that the only way that would happen is if Josh says it's either them or me. I really don't see Josh being the type of guy to just decide "I want to leave Buffalo to become the King of LA". He's a private guy who doesn't like media attention. He loves it here. Hailee loves it here. Who knows what the future holds at the end of his career. But right now, in his prime, I don't see this as anything more than a bad dream that you wake up from.
