  1. You're forgetting a couple things. 1.) The Saints are playing the Lions at home this weekend. This is a VERY winable game for them. 2.) They have a stronger strength of schedule than us. 3.) They beat us this year giving us the edge if we tied. I wouldn't call it certain at all.
  2. The statement you quoted was me saying that no OL (Offensive Lineman) or DT's (Defensive TACKLES) is worth taking. Mario Williams is a DE.
  3. As much help as we need on both sides of the line, we can't go with OL or DT with our first pick..... unless of course D'Brickashaw Ferguson is there. Let's face facts, we're not winning next week. I also have a gut feeling we won't be beating the Jets on the road. We'll probably be favored, but they almost won on the road against Miami and most terrible teams seem to be able to pull out their home finale. Especially against a team as beatable as us. In my opinion, we are looking at a top 5 pick. Outside of D'Brickashaw, there isn't an O-Lineman or a D-Tackle worth taking in the top 10. Haolti Ngata is a good DT. But he's not good enough to take until around pick 12. Everyone underneath him isn't worth taking until late 1st. The same can be mentioned about Eric Winston (mid 1st). As much as i'll get bitched at for this, if Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, or Vince Young is available when we pick; we have to take one. They're just too special to pass up. I don't buy into the whole "Leinart will be a bust" thing. Watch his games, watch his accuracy, and his composure. And Young is so Vick-like it's scary. Mario Williams would also be acceptable. If we can trade down with someone, that's fine. But if we stay put, you can't go with Ngata, Winston, or other DT's or OL's.
  4. I'm listening to GR now and they're not saying anything about TD getting canned.
  5. http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/pick_value_chart.htm Here's a look at what picks are worth for you draftniks out there.....
  6. I never said another top 5 pick. I said we'd have the 1st and then a late first.
  7. Yes, we should and will address the O-Line. But I feel it's as simple as signing a LT. Mike Gandy has done well at the LT spot and will do even better at LG (which is what he played in Chicago). If we signed Tra Thomas and moved Gandy inside while getting some depth in the 2nd round, we'd be set on that front. McGahee may have gotten 1,000 yards; but he hasn't been there when it counts and he certainly isn't playing like he did last season.
  8. Um.... Eli Manning was traded to the Chargers for Philip Rivers (essentially the 4th pick), their 3rd rounder, and a 1st and a 5th in 2005. The trade I proposed is even stronger than that: the #1 pick for the #3-4 pick (what we should get when err... if we lose out), our 2nd, a 3rd, and a 1st in 2007.
  9. I both agree and disagree with this statement. I agree that if you can't get a 1st for Alexander or Edge, you won't get a 1st for Willis. But I disagree because it all depends on time and situation. No one could get a 1st for those guys because the 2005 draft was RICH at RB. With Ronnie, Benson, Cadillac, and J.J. just to name a few; they were just going to pick them. Also, Alexander and Edge aren't as young as Willis. I feel as if you can get a late-1st for TE Doug Jolley, you can get a late-1st for Willis. The situation just needs to be right.
  10. Yes, I admit it. I've been bitten by the Reggie Bush bug. Before everyone goes nuts with "Shutup", "I've heard of 'em", and "Simply put: no." posts; hear me out: We have needs all over this team. Mainly in the O-Line and D-Line department. It has been reported that we have a substantial amount of spending money after this season. So a lot of these needs can be filled in free agency. I think we'll see Nate returning in a Bills uniform next season. With the way he's been playing combined with the fact that the going rate for top corners is expected to go down, we should be able to get him back. So now we have to deal with the losses of the following men: Eric Moulds Sam Adams Mike Williams Honestly, I don't want to see a single one of them leave. But Moulds is going to cost WAY too much money and after the crap that went down this season, he won't want to take a pay cut let alone return to the team. Sam Adams is guaranteed to go if Mary Mularkey stays on. Even if he doesn't, he probably won't want to come back and/or the organization will feel he's "detrimental" to the team. Mike Williams has been a bust. I don't think anyone can argue that fact anymore. You can come up with excuses, but even those (such as injuries that have become more and more frequent) excuses still point to "bust". I'd like to see us bring him back for one more year. He may be a "bust". But when he's on and healthy, he's our top lineman. Unfortunately, his cost is obscene. I read somewhere as well that we would not be able to restructure him. So out the door he goes So now with our John Clayton reported cap figure (in which he states we should be able to re-sign Clements and still land 1-2 TOP lineman) along with cuts to free up more space, you go after an O-Lineman and a D-Lineman. And here's the name's we go after: Grady Jackson, DT Green Bay Tra Thomas, OT Philidelphia Grady Jackson is an unrestricted free agent after this season. He's easily one of the top DL available. He's a mountain of a man that just clogs the middle and is quicker than Sam and just as big. Tra Thomas is expected to be cut after this season by Philidelphia. Having strained relationships and costing more money than they'd like to pay, he should be available. He is one of the premier left tackles in the league and would solidify that side of the line while moving Mike Gandy over to Guard; a position he played most in Chicago. So how and why does Reggie Bush fall into this equation? Well with the acquisition of veteran upgrades at both the O and D lines, we could afford to use a high pick on him. But why the hell would we do that when we already have a RB? As I sit here in my Willis McGahee throwback, it pains me to admit that he is NOT a Buffalo Bill. In 2003, he worked himself into the ground getting ready. In 2004, he proved that he was the best RB on the Bills and that he had completely bounced back from his injury. He played with passion and heart to prove to everyone, all of his doubters; that he was back and was one of the top RB's in the NFL. But now that Travis is gone and Willis was handed the team, that passion is gone. Last year when he hit that hole it didn't matter how many men were in it, he would always somehow come out the other side? Do you guys remember that? This year if he gets looked at the wrong way, he's down. And why? Because he has no heart anymore. He's proven this year with his attitude, his words, and his play that he doesn't care. He doesn't care if the Buffalo Bills are winning or losing. All Willis McGahee cares about now is his paycheck and his own personal accolades. Halfway through the season I started wondering when he would start saying he doesn't like it in Buffalo. When he would start saying he wants out. Because even though he hasn't said it, he's proving it to be true. Just recently, I read it on profootballweekly.com under the rumors that Willis wants to go to a warm weather team. Even though it's just a rumor, I buy it. For everyone who is reading this and saying, "he can't run because the line is atrocious" (sp?) know that this line is just as bad as last year's line. And the WR's are the same as last year's. He only plays well this year when he's challenged by coaches. The difference is with Willis. He's not a guy to build J.P. and this team around and quite frankly, I question his talent now as well. So before everything whirls out of control and before he pulls a Travis and EVERYONE knows he wants to be traded (thus, decreasing leverage and trade value); you move him for a late-1st rounder. I think he could get that. The 1st pick in the draft is neccessary if you want Bush. The Texans aren't drafting him. No matter what anyone says, they can't and won't do it. They have a quality QB and a quality RB who just this year signed a 21.1 million dollar extension. He's been putting up solid numbers and Davis is one of the few solid players on the team. They are going to pick D'Brickashaw Ferguson. But they aren't stupid. They'll trade their pick for more picks so that they can get that O-Line help that they need more than ANYONE else in the league (even us) and pick up more picks to get more help. Even if someone wants the 1st pick to take Leinart, Bush will be gone in the 2nd pick to San Fran. So you have to get that 1st. Here's how I see our draft filling out: 1.) (#3-5 pick) 1.) (For Willis) 2.) 3.) 3.) (For Travis) 3.) (Supplemental for Pat) 4.) 4.) (Supplemental for Jonas and Drew) 5.) 6.) 7.) Now before anyone starts argueing with me about the Compensatory picks, take a look at the three 3rd rounders Denver got in 2005 for the crap they lost last year and try telling me that losing Pat, Jonas, and Drew (without signing anyone to replace them) isn't worth one 3rd and one 4th! If we end up with the 3rd or 4th pick overall, we could trade that along with our 2nd, one of our 3rd's, and a 1st (or a 2nd if plausible) next year to move up 2-3 spots. This would leave us with our extra 1st rounder for Willis and two 3rd round picks still. With our second 1st, you draft a DT to go alongside Grady Jackson. Someone like Gabe Watson who should still be available after Ngata, Claude Wroten, and others. With the rest of the draft still looking a little something like this: 1.) Reggie Bush 1.) Gabe Watson (or other DT) 3.) 3.) 4.) 4.) 5.) 6.) 7.) Why would we draft Reggie Bush? There's a number of reasons why. First off, he's an incredible talent. The closest thing to a can't-miss i've ever seen. He can do it all and HE is the type of guy to mold your entire offense around and help out J.P. more than Willis. But even more than that, Buffalo would do it to please the fans. After this season, Ralph knows that the fans will be disenchanted by the product. Disenchanted by the talent (or lackthereof) and how they were treated by the organization (RE: Mularkey and Donahoe). The Bills will need to do something to get the fans excited. To get them some exposure and attention. Drafting Reggie Bush would put all eyes on Buffalo. You'd see people all over america in Buffalo Bills' jerseys. It would be a PR dream and something that would put asses in the seats. After what we were put through, that's something I could see Ralph trying to do. Especially if a new hot shot GM and/or coach like (keyword being LIKE) Jimmy Johnson comes in. They'll look to make a splash immediately. ....... and that's why you draft Reggie Bush.
  11. Agreed. Maybe i'm just high off of "blowout residue" and thinking a brand new, shiny RB who can get at least a yard a run sounds good. But honestly, I think we will have 8 picks in the first 4 rounds. We already have 5 and since we really didn't get anyone to replace Pat and Jonas, we should get a 3rd and a 4th supplementally (sp?). And Clements should be "Peerless'd".
  12. I hate to admit it, but I agree. There's no way we'll get him without trading up. But the way I see it, we already have: 1.) 2.) 3.) 3.) for Henry 3.) Supplemental for Pat Williams 4.) 4.) Supp. for Jonas Jennings 5.) 6.) 7.) If Denver can get three 3rd's in 2005 for the crap they lost in FA, we should AT LEAST get a 3rd and a 4th for Jonas and Pat. If we franchise and trade Nate like everyone thinks we will, we should get another 2nd. And if we were to pick Bush, we obviously could trade away McGahee for another 1st. With the amount of money we reportedly have next year and the amount of picks we have, it's definitely do-able.
  13. I couldn't disagree more with your picks. Houston isn't going to take a QB. They believe (and rightfully so) that Carr isn't the problem. The lack of an O-Line (and an offense for that matter) is the problem. They'll want D'Brickashaw Ferguson or maybe Reggie Bush. But they aren't going QB. Even if they did, Young keeps insisting he's staying at Texas. The Packers aren't going to give up on Rodgers that quickly. No one would. They won't draft a QB in the 1st round two years running. That would be unprecedented. Besides, they need too much help everywhere else. And Buffalo? There's a million places they could go. But DE? I don't think so. They'll be looking for a DT in the form of a trade-down and/or Nate Clements replacement at CB or an OT. But with the way we and McGahee are playing? I'm starting to think it wouldn't be that bad to be one of the mindless drones chanting for a trade-up for "Reggie, Reggie, Reggie!"
  14. The problem being: there is no STUD DT in this year's draft. Haolti Ngata is the top DT and he's projected to go mid-1st round. We'll be picking a lot higher. As much as I like Ferguson, i'd rather address our new LT in free agency. I say we stand put and try to get Jimmy Williams with our pick (if not, Michael Huff). Then try and trade up back into late round one and take a guy like Gabe Watson (DT).
  15. The dude is capable of playing better. We've all seen it. When he's not injured and he has some people around him worth a damn, he can give the QB time. The problem lies in getting him to play to his ability.
  16. I'm getting tired of all the "Fire Mularkey", "Fire TD" posts. I agree with all of them, but let's talk about something else. I could give a damn what happens the rest of the season. As long as no one else gets hurt, i'm looking to next year. Below is what I would do to rebuild the Bills if I was in a position of authority. Feel free to criticize and/or do the same. Who stays and who goes (FA): Angelo Crowell - STAY Josh Stamer - STAY Justin Bannan - GO Kevin Thomas - GO Mario Haggan - STAY Mike Schnek - STAY Nate Clements - GO Ron Edwards - GO Ryan Denney - STAY Sam Aiken - STAY Shane Matthews - GO Trey Teague - GO Josh Reed - GO Joe Burns - GO Other cuts: Bennie Anderson Ben Sobieski Lawrence Smith Ryan Neufeld Jeff Posey Eric Moulds - Franchise and trade Nate Clements for a 2nd round pick. He may be worthy of a late 1st, but I don't see us getting it. Nor do I see us resigning him. - Release Moulds because his contract is WAY too high. If he wants to take a substantial cut and Mularkey's not around, keep him. But the odds of that happening are not very good. - Controversially keep Mike Williams. He had a strong showing last season after a questionable camp. Unfortunately, he's caught the injury bug this year and the line has been in shambles. Everyone wants to give up on him, but I think he should stay and spend the offseason to get him accustomed to LG. Of course, he'll need to take a pay cut. - Controversially keep Sam Adams. Just like Williams, he's caught the injury bug and has had problems with Mularkey. If Mularkey stays, he'll need to get things fixed with Sam. Ron Edwards and Justin Bannan aren't doing the job. Sam's disruptive as an anchor. But he can't do it alone. Draft Picks: 1.) 2.) 2.) (From Clements trade) 3.) 3.) (From Henry trade) 3.) (Supplemental from Pat Williams) 4.) 4.) (Supplemental from Jonas Jennings) 5.) 6.) 7.) - I envision the Bills winning one more game this year. Putting them at 5-11 and probably around pick 8. Supplemental picks are just a realistic guess. - Area's of need: OT, DT, CB Day 1 Mock: 1.) Jimmy Williams, CB Virginia Tech 1.) Gabe Watson, DT Michigan * 2.) Winston Justice, OT USC 3.) Charles Spencer, OG Colorado 3.) Martin Nance, WR Miami (OH) - Bills trade a #2, a #3, and a #3 in 2006 (or maybe a #4) to get into the 15-25 mark to snab a DT. - Jimmy Williams will hopefully still be available with our inevitably high 1st. He is the stud CB of this year's draft and could come in and make an immediate impact alongside Terrence McGee. He played alongside and replaced DeAngelo Hall and has been almost a mirror image of Hall at VT. - There isn't a DT worth taking in the top 10. Although there are a handful worth taking in the 15-25 range. Haloti Ngata and Roderique Wright should go first. Gabe Watson should be available to trade up to reasonably. Free Agents: - Tra Thomas is expected to be released by the Eagles after this season. Their relationship has become quite strained and he's looking to go elsewhere. I believe our OL problems should mostly be handled in house and in FA with minimal help from the draft (mostly looking to the future and for projects). - Charles Rogers will be cut by the Detroit Lions. He was the #2 overall pick in the 2003 draft for a reason. He could very well be someone who just can't pull it off on the next level. But he could also be someone who just needs a change of scenery. With Evans and Parrish (and drafting Nance); it wouldn't be that big of a gamble. If he can keep his head on straight, he would make an interesting option at #2 or 3. Especially since he can play more physically than our other WR's. 2006 Buffalo Bills Roster: QB: J.P. Losman Kelly Holcomb Brodie Croyle (drafted on day two) RB: Willis McGahee Lionel Gates Shaud Williams - Daimon Shelton Joe Burns WR: Lee Evans Charles Rogers Roscoe Parrish Martin Nance Sam Aiken Jonathan Smith TE: Kevin Everett Mark Campbell Tim Euhus OL: Tra Thomas (LT) Mike Williams (LG) "Duke" Preston © Chris Villarial (RG) Jason Peters (RT) - Winston Justice Charles Spencer Mike Gandy Greg Jerman Marques Ogden DE: Aaron Schobel Chris Kelsay Ryan Denney (Day 2 Pick) DT: Sam Adams Gabe Watson Tim Anderson Jason Jefferson Lauvale Sape LB: Takeo Spikes London Fletcher Angelo Crowell Mario Haggan Josh Stamer (Day 2 Pick) CB: Jimmy Williams Terrence McGee Eric King Jabari Greer S: Lawyer Milloy Troy Vincent Rashad Baker Coy Wire ST: Rian Lindell Brian Moorman Mike Schneck So that's what i'd shoot for. Of course a new coach and comittment to the run would be in check as well
  17. If there's any hint of the same gene's in Marques, he'll be an interesting prospect on the practice squad. http://www.buffalobills.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=122638
  18. Tra Thomas may become available after this season. His relationship with Phili is getting more and more strained.
  19. In my league (of 10 teams) you can start only 5 players between your RB's and WR's. My WR's are: Larry Fitzgerald Keyshawn Johnson Joe Jurevicius Brandon Lloyd Michael Clayton Greg Lewis (picked up only b/c I had T.O.) But my RB's are: Willis McGahee Clinton Portis Rudi Johnson Reuben Droughns Samkon Gado Ricky Williams Next week i'm definitely going to start Fitzgerald, Portis, and McGahee. My question is; which two of the following 3 should I start? Rudi Johnson - coming off a bye, but going against Indy's D Samkon Gado - at home against Minnesota, coming off of a 3-TD, 125 yd game Reuben Droughns - hasn't scored a TD all year, but consistently puts up at least 100 yds between running and catching in every game. Then again, Droughns could get injured tonight and I won't need any help lol
  20. I don't see the Vikings drafting Leinart. Besides, with the way we're playing the only team Leinart will be playing for is Buffalo.
