Seems to be mutual interest between Von and Dallas now that Randy Gregory signed with Denver. And he's still interested in returning to LA. He said he'd only entertain other offers if he can't get a deal done with the Rams. I'd definitely welcome Von, but there hasn't been noise connecting him to Buffalo.

McDermott’s plan for a pass rush IMO

Improving the middle of the D is fine. But if we're relying on Epenesa or Basham on the other side of Rousseau, we got problems. Epenesa in two years has shown nothing and Basham was a healthy scratch most of the season. -
JD Mckissic to Bills 2 year, 7 million

A lot of you sound like fans thought bought into the "rumors" of players like Barkley and CMC and are butthurt it isn't them. -

Even if it's not a big time move like Chandler Jones or Danielle Hunter, they have to add to the position. 3 of the 6 Defensive Ends that we had on the 53 man roster last season are Free Agents. You can't go into the season with 3 DE's. -
Agreed. I HIGHLY doubt we were interested in paying 8 mil this year and 12 mil every year after that AND give up premium draft picks for a guy who can't stay healthy and would essentially move Singletary to the bench most of the time, coming off the best he's ever looked. Maybe called. Made a small offer, looked to see if McCaffrey would rework his deal, and when those didn't come to be, neither side was interested. Always assumed they'd look at a guy who could provide more in the receiving game, was a better blocker, and more clutch on 3rd downs when they needed to give Singletary a breather. And that's exactly what they did.

This is kind of where I'm at. Hicks is a good player. But if you're going to sign and pay Hicks, why would you pay 11.5 million for Jones and Settle? Seems like a fair amount of cap space just for rotational pieces. I wouldn't be opposed to Hicks, but we really need to get help at DE. Would be an 8 million dead cap hit. I don't see it.
-
Nope. They'd be better off keeping him and not playing him much than they would releasing him. Beane isn't the type of GM to take on 8 million in Dead Cap.
-
I just feel that possible mid to late round picks that you won't be able to use until over a year later shouldn't be a deciding factor on improving your team in the now. If it works out that way, great. But Beane shouldn't be not making moves that he wants to make or moves that could help the team because we might get an extra pick or picks on Day 2 or 3 a year down the road.
-
Comp picks are cool when your roster is set in a way that you can afford to lose players and not replace them. But when you have holes on your team that you need to fill, you fill them with competent people. You don't go into a season with holes on your team so that you can get some mid round picks the following year.

Laughing at the inevitable posts coming in from people who had unreal expectations, think the salary cap "means nothing", and that believe just because there's restructures and extensions that COULD be done to clear space that it was an automatic that every single one WOULD be done and at the snap of a finger.

No Evan Engram for us either. Tight End market is getting stupid. -

He was my #1 hope for backup here. But it makes sense for him. Like you said, Tua's proven he's made of glass - so you've got a good shot to at least play some games. -

The Panthers have been the most connected team to the Watson situation. Gotta imagine Texans know what their offer is and it's probably more than those. -

Have to take 13 million in Dead Cap to do it: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/christian-mccaffrey-21749/ And this thought that you can always re-do players is getting out of hand. You can't just snap your fingers and re-do deals. The other party has to be okay with it.
-
And it goes up to 12 every year after that for 2023, 2024, and 2025. Dead cap hit of 13 million if you want to move on from him after this season. 8 million in Dead Cap if you want to move on from him the season after that. Not a false narrative. You bring him on, you're paying a lot more than just 8. Right now, we're using 4 million of our cap on the RB position between Singletary and Moss. Even 8 this year is double. Triple every year after that and that comes out of other positions. Not to mention, we have to give up premium picks to do it, which again, are needed at other positions that have bigger holes than RB.
-
We. are. NOT. trading. for. Christian McCaffrey. There is no way he's giving up picks AND big money for a RB when he's never done either and it's in his makeup to not to do either. Not for a guy who has proven time and again he can't stay healthy. Not after Singletary ended the year looking the best he ever has being a primary ball carrier. Especially not when Cap Space is at a premium and there's so many other positions we have to fill that are more important.

Edit! McKenzie is back on a 2 year deal worth 4.4 million
BillsFanForever19 replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I sort of agree. If we were to add an Evan Engram, I think I'd mostly be okay with it. But I'd want a solid veteran added or a 1st Round WR or a high 2nd Rounder from a trade up. I don't like the idea of promoting both Davis and McKenzie and not doing much else. Wouldn't be an upgrade from where we were last season and could potentially be a downgrade if either underperforms in a bigger role. -

Hodgins is a Practice Squad guy. I'm not counting on him making the 53. He was a hot name last offseason, failed to show anything, and was released. I don't get why posters are so attached to him. I know, right? I said the exact same thing. "Not a lot of balls to go around"? It's the same players we had minus (most likely) two key contributors. -

Are posters okay with this scenario? Diggs Davis (Day 2 Pick) McKenzie Stevenson Kumerow Knox (FA Signing to upgrade from Sweeney) -
Great. Rob Gronkowski and Evan Engram's price tag just went up.

Cole wasn't returning BEFORE this move. After it, there's no way. He was either going to have to take a serious paycut or he'd be released. The fact that he was granted permission to seek a trade says he wasn't interested in the first option. And there's no way we're keeping him for the role he has on this team with declining stats and his release being able to save us 6.1 million dollars on a team that has far greater needs.
