  1. Great Mallard Fillmore today regarding JFK. Enjoy
  2. Love that place. Lots of stories there. Do you realize women were not allowed in there until the early 80s. And even then, it was a very big deal. Next time you are in there, check out the chandelier light hanging above the bar. Its one of those lights that has a center light hanging down, two chains hanging off it, connected to two additional lights. Kinda like an upside down trident with chains connection the points. On the chains are wishbones covered with inches of dust. On day I was there in the afternoon, the current owner was there and I asked him about the bones. He claimed that they were put there after a going away party by soldiers for World War I. When the soldiers cam home, they took off a bone. The bones left there are for the soldiers who never made it back. True or not, a pretty cool story.
  3. Its not 2 miles here in NYC. Its 5 cars, plus motorcycled NYPD.
  4. So true, but the Dems are just as compromised. So there really is nothing left. Having 4 political parties would be ideal.
  5. Less government, less taxes, more emphasis on personal responsibility and civil liberties...in a nutshell, keep the gov't as far away from my private life and property as possible.
  6. I used to say I am a Republican, the older I get, the more I identify with the Libertarians. The Republicans and Democrats are both worthless.
  7. Would you do it? Taylor can still bring it and would instantly provide some solid veteran leadership to our D. He's unhappy with Parcells, Parcells would have no hesitation about a division trade...he just wants more picks. What do you think? I'd go for it. Article that got me thinking about this
  8. If you ever get up to Albany, Mahar's is definately worth it. And yes, McSorley's belongs on that list.
  9. I don't work 13-16 hour days to benefit anyone but my family and my clients. If you are not working your a$$ off, don't expect any favors, handouts or more taxes. Put me next to someone working as hard as I am, and we'll talk about opportunities.
  10. Thanks for the clarification. Dear god I hope McCain wins this election and I don't even particularly like the guy.
  11. She actually said she would hike income taxes 6% and then hike payroll taxes on top of that? Please clarify.
  12. TMobile 2 lines, 900 minutes & free nites and weekends, 90/mo
  13. This is spectacular...Lee Elia's rant against Cubs fans. When he was manager in 1983. WOW! Puts Jim Mora to shame. Lee Elia Article Here's the recording (Warning: If you are at work, eitehr close the door or put on headphones, its that bad). Recording
  14. Played football and baseball in HS and joined a fraternity in college. Hazing was part of the gig, no big deal. Stupid drinking games/bar games, carry equipment/shaving head, eyebrows wearing the pledge uniform (for the fraternity), none of that bothered me and it was all in good fun. There was never any connotation of sexual hazing of any kind. Anyone who may have suggested would have immediately been thought of as very strange.
  15. I think it was Dwight Adams.
  16. I actually disagree with you on this point. Spend the big money on the OL, Front 7 on D and offensive skill positions, in that order. Save the secondary for draft picks.
  17. I actually don't have much of a problem picking a CB in the first round every 3-4 years. That way we do not tie up as much FA money in the position. In this draft, we really didn't have much of a choice, all the DL I wanted were gone by 11. If we could not deal down (and I assume we could not), then it would have been too early to pick Groves or Balmer. Albert would have been a decent pick, but that assumes that Butler (who I am very high on BTW), could transition to C quickly and move Fowler to the bench. I'm not sure about that. This may have been a pick of default. Take the CB this year because there is noone else to take for the lines. This also further infuriates me with respect to Ngata, but thats a different issue.
  18. 2001 and 2003, especially, were excellent drafts. 2002, 2004 and especially 2005 were simply awful. Gotta wonder if Donanoe lost his marbles by 05. I think its too soon to properly judge 2006 and 2007. After this year, 2006 is fair game.
  19. The piece sucks and is awfully researched. Since KD has already addressed the comp issue (by which there should be absolutely no argument), let me address this one.... These statements are technically incorrect and totally wrong. What was reduced by the act is the amount of haircuts applied to these securities when counted as capital, reflecting the fact that a market does exist. A broker-dealer must maintain a proscribed level of net capital. Net capital is not the same as liquidity, it is derived from a complex formula valuing various assets. Since many broker-dealers hold various securities, a discount is applied to what these securities are actually worth for net capital purposes. These discounts are called haircuts. For example, a broker-dealer holding any type of debt securities would incur haircuts based on how much time the security has until maturity. The longer until maturity, the higher the haircut. Also, the type of debt is taken into account. US Treasuries have a max haircut of 6%, reflecting a very liquid market. In the case of corporate debt (subordinated or not), you may see 15-25% haircuts depending upon the maturity. What the 04 act did was recognize that certain securities had markets and appropriately offered haircuts based upon those markets. Previously, some heavily traded debt securities had a 75% haircut which was unrealistic. Finally, the SEC has very specific rules for securities without a ready market. In some cases, the haircut is 100%. In others, less. Banks always held these securities as capital, it is just now the haircut is a bit less, reflecting that a market does exist. The writer of this piece is factually and historically inaccurate. Simply awful.
  20. My opinion of "most" cops as people (and I know plenty), are that they are just decent hard-working poeple trying to do right by their families. Your view any different?
  21. Now thats a nickname!!
  22. I thought thats what NSFW stood for?
  23. That video is outstanding. Some really nice sets.
  24. They keep trying to make this shooting "racially motivated." However, two of the cops were black. Sharpton is really stretching it this time. http://www.nypost.com/seven/04252008/news/..._ver_108091.htm
