It is not. A "consensus" is not fact. There is no such thing as a scientific consensus. To act on something other that proven fact is terrible folly. What accounted for the so-called "mini" ice age, which brought about the Dark Ages? It certainly wasn't carbon emissions by man. How would you explain the extreme attenuation of global temperature extremes in the last ten thousand years, when the geological records show far more dramatic changes before? Why are we in this 10k year's worth span of moderation, save one blip? The warming crowd conveniently extracts data from a recent couple of hundred years and dismisses the rest. Academia...studies are geared to whatever grants are in the offing. There is no questioning the worth, the validity. Cash on the barrellhead, salaries paid, and woe to the person that doesn't dance the party line. -

They went to this Cover 2 thing and the DBs role in run support, or threat of same, diminished. When your closest DBs generally set up well back from the LOS, and you demand a LB become a pass defender, well...the DL is on an island. -
I want a Tanya H. North Tonawanda Barbie. We will live in Section 8 housing, every conceivable expense - rent, heat, food, medical care, transportation, phone, cable, will be extracted out of the taxpayer's hide. We will work part-time at jobs that require no thought and as long as we don't visually expel drool, and our employer will greatfully cash the government (taxpayer) subsidy checks to employ our sorry hides. We aim to earn 15K per year, which will pay for our our weekly booze, nd cig needs, and have a party when we cash our earned income credit and stimulus checks. We will attend free training throughout the year in this or that skill we don't give a damn about, so we can keep the free gravy flowing. We promise to re-elect our seated politicians. Maybe we will hatch little Kens and Barbies. The free money will really flow then!

Small world, eh? -
What about contract incentives for in-season statistics? IIRC, MLB players lobbied to have rain-out delay stats included for that very reason.

Editorial comment: Today's air rifles are so powerful. I've a Daisy PowerLine 880 lever pump rifle, 6 or 7 years old. Cost something like 30 bucks. Rifled barrel, 3x plastic scope. Quite accurate. Still sold. Still inexpensive. It fires a BB and a .177 pellet at over 665 fps muzzle velocity. That's .22 short standard velocity. If you want to buy a kid a BB gun, stick to something like a Daisy "Red Ryder" . My PowerLine 30 dollar Daisy is a deadly weapon. Not for children, at all. -

Yes, you are being a good neighbor. Many aren't. I've no idea if the wire gauge is right for the distance - I leave that to the audiophiles. Myself, I'd buy whatever normal stuff that works. Then I'd buy some solid-core coated wire, stiff enough that you can bend it into a "U" shape. Then bend the ends back into another, much smaller u shape. Run your wires, and take a piece of wood and pound the u wire down to locate the speaker wire in intimacy with the soil...every few feet. Employ your boy to do this task. Sense of accomplishment, working on manly stuff with Dad, etc. All good. Buy red-sheathed wire. Easier to see and push back down as the soil seasonally swells and heaves. If the speaker wire fails after a few years...so what? It's cheap, so just repeat the process. -

Find out if your neighbors have air rifles. That's what is used in the wee hours to halt your blistering of their eardrums and re-assert their right to a peaceful, quiet existence. -
If you'd like some yucks - view a CIN - CLE game. Their various combinations of orange, black, brown, and white guarantee an interception fest. I've seen it happen for years - QBs on either side delivering a perfect strike to a defender. Ever seen the B'gals "Orange Popsicle" combo? Orange pants, orange jersey, their orange helmets with those black snail slime traces. The only thing missing is a stick shoved up their fannies.

Good recollection re the onset of dark uniform mania. I noticed it, too.

Good for him, good for the Chiefs. I think it's always a good idea to carry an extra kicker through camp and possibly the pre-season before the cut dates hit. Most all of these players don't get picked up - but if you have an injury, there's someone with some degree of knowledge of your team and playbook. Now and again, they do get brought back.

Love or lust, Obama and the fawning press need to get a room Editorial by Phil Bronstein, San Francisco Chronicle 6/15/09: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/bronst...?entry_id=41380 -
You have to factor in taxation and hand-outs. Starting with LBJ's Great Society program, the drive to make more and more people dependent of the Federal umbilical cord continues. The old adage still holds "If you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can be sure Paul will vote for you." Your high schools graduate may be among the almost 40% of working Americans that pay no federal income tax. He may well get earned income checks. His children get free health insurance. Possibly school lunches. This Administration seems poised to go further. This carbon cap and trade thing (if you think Enron, Tyco and Global Crossing were something, wait and see). I've read many of the estimates - utilities costs increasing by $1,500, $2,000, $3,000 per year. A dollar or more increased gasoline tax - businesses will collapse or go overseas, millions of jobs lost. But your high school graduate will get a hefty energy credit. At the end of the day, the College man will be increasingly, heavily taxed to pay for the HS man. As long as the HS man continues to pull the correct lever at the voting booth. Individual success becomes lessened in value. In fact, it gets punished. I would imagine in time, we will all be saying what the Soviet workers used to say "They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work". Sad.

Absolutely so - it was one of a long list of Ford of Germany vehicles that were marketed here by Ford.

I don't know if they will be Poirot stories. Perhaps Miss Marple, perhaps a Tommy and Tuppence. Maybe something else. Suchet's Poirot...I can't think of a better casting choice than him for the role. If you haven't seen it, and spot a rebroadcast of The Way We Live Now, view it. Suchet does a fine job, as does the rest of the cast. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0300879/

The LUV soldiered on until 2005. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_LUV Automotive tooling doesn't die - it goes to other markets. The Ford Maverick migrated to Ford of Australia, and was manufactured for many a year - I think it was re-named as Futura. 1967 Dodge Polaras were built in South America for years and years. The original Ford Escort tooling went down to Brazil and the vehicle was built by the late Ford/VW consortium, Autolatina. Just in case you were wondering...
