They've been a football school longer than a basketball school. Three of their programs (football, men's and women's basketball) were ranked Top 25 in the past 10 years. Football is 7-4 right now with a shot to play in the conference championship. Attendance still blows.

You're partly correct. Level of support is more important than TV market size. Interest in and support for athletics within the SUNY system is almost non-existent. Syracuse is now New York State's team anyway. But there is one thing UB has that makes it qualified for the Big Ten: they are a member of the Association of American Universities which all Big Ten schools must be. With their operating budget and paltry NIL, UB will be in the MAC forever, unless a billionaire decides to become their patron, like T. Boone Pickens did for Oklahoma State.

Promotion is key. UB does a lousy job promoting their games.

The best part is you don't even have to pay them a salary. They are still getting paid by the Giants

I heard a story that Lowell liked to play a little game where he'd ask for a light from your lighter and then walk off with it to see if you'd say anything.

That carries a lot of weight. He knows more than I do. I'm just saying I've yet to see him significantly elevate any team he played for. Maybe he was never in the right situation.

I think the new Highmark is showing there is no such thing as a "little investment" into a new stadium. As for UB stadium, I don't think there is anything that wrong with it. Yeah the track sucks, but it's not like the field is a million miles away from the stands. But why can't you play games at Highmark? I would think adding 5-6 more events to the stadium calendar would be a good thing, a little extra revenue. People are used to football played at Highmark. Sell seats on just one side to save on staffing concessions, security etc. Charge $10 to park, $20-$30 for tickets. 10K attendance would be a healthy number for the UFL.

The UFL is mostly in warm weather markets. But Bills Mafia are tough!! Could we get 10-15K to show up for spring ball? Who wouldn't want a few more tailgate opportunities.
