  1. Which is why I am so supportive of the Pegulas even if their ownership record is less than stellar. The Bills were as good as gone after Ralph passed away. Jon Bon Douchebag teamed up with Rogers to buy the Bills and take them north. The plan was to buy the Bills for between $800MM and $1B, then wait a few years while Toronto built a new stadium. The $400MM lease breaking fee wasn't going to stop them. But then two things happened: Ted Rogers also passed away and the Pegulas wrote the massive (at the time) check. The Bills were saved. Thank goodness they at least got the Bills right. Hoping they get as lucky with the Sabres.
  2. Everyone acts like no one watches spring football. But the XFL, even after the initial curiosity watchers that put their games in the Top 3 TV ratings in their debut weekend, settled into the top 10 to 12 of weekly TV ratings, outperforming most NHL and some NBA games. What killed them was COVID. Vince McMahon pulled the plug once he realized games would have to be called off. I think they were well on their way to establishing spring ball. He could have taken those ratings and gotten a real TV deal.
  3. Seriously. All she's doing is admitting her takes come from Nick Wright's twitter feed. Anyone seeing a couple of Allen's games who know better than to call him a "disaster." Lazy can of corn.
  4. The NFL does not want the added liability of a minor football league but are totally fine if other people want to spend money on one.
  5. I went to one CFL game at the old Ivor Wynne. It was like a trip back in time to the Ol' Rockpile.
  6. You might not believe it but the three-down football is the original football. American colleges added the 4th down. https://torontosun.com/2012/02/02/college-football-a-different-game-century-ago
  7. I believe three down football is culturally engrained into Canada, which makes merging with an American four down league difficult if not impossible. It sounds like MLSE doesn't really care. They want a profitable football team.
  8. https://www.xflnewshub.com/xfl-news/reports-april-19th-cfl-announce-delay-mlse-interested-in-blowing-up-the-cfl/ MLSE, owners of the Toronto Argonauts, as well as Leafs and Raptors, sick of losing money, want to blow up the CFL, scenarios could include merger with the XFL, which could also mean abandoning 3-down football.
  9. Thread back from the dead. What do you think of this trade idea? Maybe on Draft Day if the Bills don't get their guy?
  10. The bright side to meaningless games are incredibly cheap seats. Got Kelly clubs @ the 50 yard line for $50 each that game. At least the Bills won.
  11. There's a good reason for this. The Pats have/had a 30,000 wait list for season tickets and stadium security were like the Gestapo with unruly fans. Any infraction and you lose your seasons. Happened to my buddy's company. They used Pats tickets to schmooze clients. One game a client did something and boom! Tickets pulled. They were STH'ers for over 40 years. Kraft don't care. Worst drunks I've ever seen were Canadians in the Jim Kelly Club. Cleveland game 12/18/16. Literally falling over people in seats. That was also the game I ran into Bill Fichtner. He had a buzz.
  12. Good news, Sabres come back and beat the Flyers. Bad news, reports say Ullmark will test free agency. So Adams has to move him tomorrow.
  13. That Trenton stadium is only a few years old. Very nice minor league facility. Still shocked MLB dumped them.
  14. He really ought to try and open one in Buffalo. I mean just for name value.
  15. Jays are at their spring training facility in Dunedin. Raptors in Tampa at the Lightning's arena.
  16. Can't recall disliking any Bills player while they played, but I have a healthy dislike for Fred Smerlas for the crap he talks about the team and the city on Boston radio.
  17. This will be fun. 20% capacity is expected to be allowed. About 3500-4000 per game.
  18. 10K, sure, no Buffalo. But Buffalo often gets regional gatherings. This article cites that conventions and conferences in Buffalo account for 30,000 hotel bookings a year. Is that a lot? I have no idea. But if you divide that number by 52 weeks, 577 hotel bookings a week come from conference and convention business. https://www.wkbw.com/rebound/what-does-the-future-hold-for-the-buffalo-niagara-convention-center
  19. Look at the post you responded to again. I quoted Lambeau prices for 2021. Cheapest seats are $118. (I don't know if that's ST or Single Game price.) But that is more than double what the Bills are charging. I believe cheapest ST is $45/game. So holding up a renovated Lambeau as an example for the Bills to keep ticket prices low doesn't jibe.
  20. Just curious if you priced tickets at Lambeau or Arrowhead? Retractable roofs are a waste of money. An extra $300-500MM for what amounts to a sunroof. Better to build something like US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Glass roof with walls that open.
  21. I hope Terry & Kim have the right people crunching those numbers. It's a big decision.
  22. I would think a dome would be favored if only for our awesome passing game.
  23. I guess they were done waiting on the Texans.
