    The problem with this version of the Sabres is their roster construction is flawed. 
     

    The problem with the Sabres the last 13 years is an owner who convinced he is a “hockey man”. 

     

    Well Adams and Granato are going to extend their tenures next year.

    “You die a hero or live long enough to be the villain” is likely more apt. I am fairly confident that Pegula is an Allen retirement and being tasked with hiring from being run out of town. The Sabres are begging for the Golisano years and if Pegula moves on from Bean we will be longing for the cash to cap era.

    You don't want to hear it but Terry is the only reason we aren't watching the Toronto Bon Jovi Bills now. I also don't think either of you watch the Sabres much, other than the scoreboard and standings. It just takes longer to develop a team in hockey. The Sabres are slowly getting there now that they have a goalie and defense.

    Does Josh Allen still work as hard in the offseason?

    Bringing the Bills ticket pricing up to national averages only makes sense if they’re also building the stadium in one of those larger cities that demand such exorbitant ticket prices.

     

    But they’re not.

     

    They’re charging big city prices, without the big city. The big city prices make sense in those cities because *everything* is more expensive there.

     

    It would be akin to being told the apartments in Lackawanna are now $7.5k per month, because the landlord says the previous rent was undervalued compared to Manhattan and LA. 

     

    Bills prices still won't be at par with the rest of the NFL. But it will be closer.

    I know a good bit about the Charlotte NBA situation. The Hornets left on TERRIBLE terms with lawsuits between the owners. They were an AMAZING franchise until the late ‘90’s. The Bobcats situation was pretty much a disaster. Jordan coming in was not really the savior that people thought. He was not a very good owner on the court or on the business side. That’s hard for me to say because he’s my favorite athlete ever. The franchise turned up under Guelli’s leadership and by engaging NBA best practices. As stated earlier, the NBA has always been the best at the business of sports.

     

    When he was with the Bills they were like middle of the league in sponsor revenue I think. That’s impossible with an old stadium and garbage teams. That’s a credit to the creativity and staff that he had built. This is a very good hire for the Bills & Sabres. His experience dwarfs that of the last few people “running the show.”

     

    People would rather come up with their own twisted takes.

    And if you have read @Kirby Jackson's posts the past few years he explains why this is the case.

     

    The Bills price structure has always been way undervalued compared to the rest of the NFL. Building a new stadium allows the team to reset those numbers. The Bills can't raise prices for a 50 yard line seat at old Highmark 300% + PSL, but they can create a new stadium with entirely new seating sections with different pricing. This is what's happening. 

     

    It blows for those long timers.

    There are lots of examples. His role has ZERO to do with football or hockey. He is in charge of the business of sports. He sells tickets, advertising, etc… 

     

    Maybe you can give me some insight. Some folks over at SabreSpace have decided that Pete Guelli was hired because Terry like yes-men, just like Michael Jordan did when he owned the Bobcats. And yes, they are being serious.

    He was there 10 years and only 3 winning years. My teenage niece could market Michael Jordan to basketball fans in his home state of North Carolina. He is one of if not the only player in the American big 4 sports to ever be bigger than the league itself.
     

     

    I don't follow what you find weird. He wasn't running the team. Maybe the "turnaround" is on the business end?
