They’re #69!
Why are they behind the worst team in the NCAA? They won 30 games this year. Plus a post season tournament. Wouldn't that put them somewhere in the Top 25?

UB games are a bargain. If you bought them on the phone from the Athletic office, you'd only play $10 each. And parking is free!

Except the portal usually means your team will be totally different next year. I'm holding my breath to see what happens to this team. Does coach Becky Burke leave for a power conference, like Nate Oats did? How many players get poached?

No, I think his point is that the Sabres have historically been unable to carry over late-season success into the next year. I think the majority of fans understand this, but does the front office?
Here's how I look at it. The Bills went 17 years without a playoff game. And no one thought they were making the playoffs when they finally did.

Forgotten Buffalo tours happen infrequently but if they have one when you're here, it might be worth taking it in. About four hours, it's a pub crawl with food at some of Buffalo's family taverns. http://www.forgottenbuffalo.com/

Harrington pointing out that the late-season Sabres' runs are fools gold.
Mike Harrington: What impact does this run of good hockey have on the Sabres next season?
"In 2021-22, the first full year under coach Don Granato, the Sabres were 18-32-8 before finishing the season 14-7-3. The ’22-23 team endured that ugly eight-game losing streak in November and missed out by a point after going 10-5-2 in the last 17 games.
Last year’s team was on the playoff periphery and never really got close thanks to two losses in Detroit in the late going. But they still finished 10-7-1 before moving on from Granato and hiring Lindy Ruff. And this year’s club, of course, had that 13-game winless streak in December and went on an 0-5-1 slide around the trade deadline before finally showing what everyone had hoped for over the last 12 games. Too bad it took 60-plus games for the full package to finally be on display."
Okay, so are they supposed to lose?

Anyone following the UB women’s journey to the WNIT title game? I’m not a huge hoops fan, and I usually regard the NIT tournaments as the “losers bracket”, but good for them on getting this far, and playing the title game on home hardwood 👏🏽
On a related note, I’ve always believed that UB should drop their football program and put all their resources behind building a Gonzaga-type program, which I think this area would really embrace.I'm an alum and follow the Bulls. ESPN+ gets you all the games. This season for the women has been amazing. 29 wins ties their record. Chelia Watson and Nolani Cornfield are two of the most exciting players to watch. This title game, played at UB Saturday at 5, is the deepest postseason run for any local school since Bona with Bob Lanier made the NCAA final four in 1970.
As for football, that actually makes money and funds the other non-revenue programs. Unless UB basketball could get into a major conference like the Big East, losing football would be suicide. Don't forget UB earns a million or more playing power conference teams. This year they open at Minnesota.
But there's no reason why local folks can't pass the hat and fund the women's program. Women's basketball at UB has been very good for a long time with Becky Burke and Felicia Legette-Jack before her. You can have a nationally ranked program for less than what a men's program would take.
If you live in WNY consider going to the game. Saturday 5pm at Alumni Arena. Tickets are cheap and parking is free. Otherwise the game will be televised in CBS Sports Network.

Yeah, I did a quick google search and the greater Buffalo area has 10000 hotel rooms, another 7000 in Rochester. Figure double occupancy....I see your point. VRBO and air B&B can fill some too. I think people can rent their yards for tents or something....LOL
Figure that a good percentage of folks, 40-50%, will drive in and drive out the same day. Most people only come out for the 1st round. I'm more worried about parking and traffic control. The area is a zoo on game days with only 71,000 attending. What happens when it's 4X that number?
They better come up with a satellite parking plan with shuttle buses. Heck, there's a rarely used rail line nearby.

Are they really going to get rid of ECC South? Where's their campus going to go
I think there's already 10 plus hotels in orchard Park for a town of 30,000.. I think they can do one more around the stadium and a couple of restaurants maybe one with a music venue, yes that's totally doable
But orchard Park certainly cannot handle 12 new restaurants 365 days a year.. when the town only blows up 10 days a year... There's not enough of a consistent customer base
They could handle two restaurants for sure
ECC is downsizing. Closing the South campus has been suggested. Bills could certainly use the land. I never said 12 restaurants. Just two sit downs, maybe some walk ups, have a food truck area on game days.

Well that's my point.. you don't need to develop all of orchard Park to have a nice experience
The Buffalo Bills and I'm sure they know what they're doing... Have already got a couple of zones okayed for a Bills entertainment zone in the vicinity of the stadium
I was more talking about the people who always cry about Western New York being stuck in the past and we can't have nice things and orchard Park is a ghost town.. yet the stadium is going to be one of the best in the world, it's going to be gorgeous and I'm sure it's going to be a great experience around the stadium
They are going to have a Bills entertainment district in the vicinity... But my point is people are still going to complain because it won't be good enough
You're going to tear down the old stadium, plus there's talk of eliminating ECC South. That's more than enough room for extra parking and a small-ish "Patriot Place" development. Two hotels, a couple of restaurants, a music venue and you really have something.

Just make sure to draft Shawn Dolac.

Dude first of all Green Bay is 3 or 4 times larger than orchard Park lol
Second of all orchard Park doesn't want any of this.. that's the thing everybody's missing
They don't want to get built up , they don't want to get turned into cheektowaga
They literally like being a small town that turns into a small city nine times a year
They don't 15 more restaurants or 15 more hotels or the town expanded.. people move to orchard Park because they like it how it is
Then why the #### did they fight so hard to keep the stadium in OP? For years they made sure the only development the stadium area ever saw was a Tim Hortons and a 7-11. Building up that area isn't going to ruin their precious little town, the main part of which is several miles to the east.

Considering recent drafts have drawn close to 300,000 people I'd like to see how they pull this off in Orchard Park.

When Terry bought the team the most expensive seat was $88 a game now it's $155. The arena used to be fairly uniform in its pricing structure, now it's subdivided into 32 different tiers. Mind you this is for a team that doesn't win and hasn't won for a long time. For the current Bills? I'd expect 5-10% increases annually maybe depending on your seat location, maybe not. It depends how strong their waiting list is. Wherever the waiting lists are is where the biggest annual increases will be.
The Sabres are expected to keep up with the rest of the NHL. The league doesn't want it's franchises charging AHL prices, no matter how bad they are. But like I said, they dropped prices on their lowest priced season ticket to $23/game next year. And they're didn't raise prices to anyone who renewed.
3 minutes ago, Gregg said:Curious to see how many Bills fans drop their seasons and just go to the games purchasing individual tickets on a game-by-game basis as a way to avoid the PSL fee. I know some Jets/Giants fans who did that, and they don't regret it at all. They still go to all the games but without the cost of the PSL fee. You don't get to sit in the same seats as a season ticket holder does, but you save so much money doing it this way.
Probably after the Bills turn back into pumpkins, when they can't find the next Josh Allen.
But this franchise has always seems to luck out at the right time. Remember back in 1998 when they added 100 luxury boxes that had to sell or else the team suggested they could move? Along comes Doug Flutie to bring the excitement back to the Bills and all those boxes sold. The new Highmark is literally the house Josh Allen built.

How long are your tickets prices good for? Lord Terrance's hockey team has been a disaster for a very long time but they've been very punctual with their ticket price increases. You'd be pretty foolish not to expect a similar trajectory or worse with a product that people actually want.
Don't think of it as a leak, think of it as being blessed by the Lord's urine that Lord Terrance has graciously directed towards you. Expect to pay a premium for that.
Not really. Prices have remained static, and even got cut this year.

I thought being a 30-win team would earn you a few votes. There are only 7 D1 teams with 30 or more wins. And rankings are never that precise anyway.
