Maybe we should start Drew at home and Losman on the road. (Sorry, just being cynical.)

Who should start at QB next week
KurtGodel77 replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, Losman's still out with an injury, and Matthews is a journeyman. You put in Matthews, and he either does well or he stinks. If he stinks, you've not helped the team. If he lights the world on fire for a few games, you'll have a harder time putting in Losman when Losman is better. -
We need to put Losman in when he's healthy. How much worse could he be than what we're seeing today?
-
Because Drew is very careful when he buys bread. He always looks for molds.
-
Considering the way the Patriots have been dominating, we're lucky to be down by only 6-0.
-
Back in the early '90s, the Houston Oilers started with a 1-4 record, but won 11 straight to go 12-4 and make the playoffs. Joe Montana and the Kansas City Chiefs knocked them out in the divisional round, before losing 30-13 to the Bills in the AFC Championship Game. The point--other than that it's time for the Bills to win another AFC Championship Game--is that 11 straight is possible when you're playing well. If the Bills keep playing the way they did against the Jets last week, they could win the rest of their games.

We also have to worry about Baltimore, because they have the head-to-head tiebreaker, and because they won't win their division because of Pittsburgh. If Baltimore makes the playoffs, they'll be using up one of only two wildcard spots.

We Can Talk About Running As Much As We Want....
KurtGodel77 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to see a few deep throws to Lee Evans, much like the way the Panthers completed some long passes in the second half of the Super Bowl. I'd also like to see us run the ball a lot to open up those deep passes and to wear down their defense. -
The Bills can make the playoffs, but it would really help if they won today at NE. In addition, one of the teams that currently has a winning record has to suffer a collapse. An excellent candidate for playoff removal is the New York Jets. With today's loss to Baltimore, the Jets have three losses, only two fewer than us. Another loss is on their schedule with that impending New England game. With Pennington out, it's reasonable to believe the Jets will have a few more losses. Assuming the Bills win against New England (hey, I'm being optimistic), assuming the Jets lose to New England, and assuming both teams win any remaining games against Miami, the Bills' division record would be 4-2 as compared to the Jets' divisional record of 3-3. I believe that divisional record is more important than conference record in determining tiebreakers, so the Bills would have the edge. Now let's hope for a win today at New England!!

On offense, the Bills' line must take control. If they achieve that, they can pound the ball against the Pats' soft run defense, and Drew will have time to exploit the Pats' injuries at CB. I'd love to see some big plays by Lee Evans, like the ones Mushin Muhammed had against the Pats in the Super Bowl. The Patriots are more vulnerable on defense than offense. On offense, the Bills must put a stop to those 8 - 15 yard passes. The Patriots will carve you up with that stuff if you let them. The Patriots' pass attack scares me a lot more than Corey Dillon.

I have to say that I'm disappointed by the media's anti-Buffalo stance. It's not just the fact that a close call that correctly went in our favor was pointed out, while clearly erroneous calls that went against us were ignored. It's also the Stanley Cup, and his foot being in the crease. If an NYC team had that happen to them, the media would have never let the officials live it down.
-
The big key to this game will be holding the Patriots' short-to-intermediate passing attack in check. Dillon doesn't scare me, but Brady does. The Patriots' D is good, but if you avoid making a mistake and don't get intimidated you can move the ball. The key will be shutting down guys with annoying names like Branch and Givens.

Good line.

The main reason for the offensive re-emerngence
KurtGodel77 replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing about this past Super Bowl that really made an impression on me was the way NE's OL took control of the game. Those were a bunch of no-name players who really used some grit and brains to take control of the line of scrimmage from the very first snap. They did it against a vaunted DL. Sort of like the way our OL played against the Jets. -

Maybe they should start Bannan at LG and Tucker at C. -
Pennington has a Rotator Cuff injury
KurtGodel77 replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Pennington stays out 6 weeks, and if the Jets go 3-3 in that time, then they'd have five losses with two games to play. This injury really hurts them, but they're still in the playoff hunt. -
Is New England peaking too? Is there a chance those guys will lose some games late in the season . . . possibly opening up the division for a team that started 0-4 but finished strong down the stretch?

Steelers the Best in the NFL? You gotta say yes.
KurtGodel77 replied to ICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The coaching situation is more complicated than that. It wasn't Belichick versus Cowher. It was Belichick versus Kordell Stewart, and Cowher versus Brady/Bledsoe. Cowher did pretty well in his chess match against Bledsoe. But Belichick versus Kordell Stewart? There is only one way a chess match like that can end. Now why on earth didn't I bet on that game? -
another Travis Henry trade thought
KurtGodel77 replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd say that if someone offered a pick near the top of the third round, we should trade Travis away. Shaud Williams looks like he'll be a good RB, so between him, McGahee, and Burns, we'll be set at RB. A few weeks ago, I'd have said to use the Travis pick on our OL. Now, though, our OL looks just fine. So I'd say we need to do something about our secondary instead. -
The Jets are a much better team than they were a year ago. Look at Travis's performance against them in our first game against them this year, and compare it to what Willis did today.

Or maybe not.

how are the pats stopping the rams?
KurtGodel77 replied to nodnarb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope you will feel . . . less grateful to the Bills next week. -
“They ran the ball very, very well today,” Edwards said. “That’s the most yardage we’ve given up all season on the ground, and when they move the ball like that, it makes it hard to get to any quarterback.” http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/index.php?...ions_id=41#1674 A quote like that really shows Willis is coming into his own.

I'm concerned about that Seattle game. But the game against Pittsburgh scares me the most. Let's hope that by that time, they've secured a bye, and are just treating it like a meaningless game.
