  1. After Art Modell fired Belichick, he was asked if he wanted his next head coach to be tougher on his players. Modell responded by saying, "Yeah, I want him to be tougher. If Hitler was still around, I'd hire him." Modell couldn't hire Hitler, so Billick was his second choice. Incidentally, Modell apologized for his remarks, pointing out that he himself was Jewish.
  2. We could cut him after the year is over to free up cap space. We certainly need to do something to free up cap space.
  3. I have this vision of Bill Belichick walking into the Patriots' locker room last year, back when they were 2-2. "This losing has got to stop," he said. It did.
  4. Well, Mike Mularkey has put together a talented staff of assistant coaches. Last year, we were all begging for Jim McNally to be our offensive line coach. Now he is. The players are still committing stupid penalties. You can blame that on a lot of things, but poor coaching isn't one of them. Then take the WR positions. Last year, our WR coach was busily coaching rookie Anquan Boldin to a Pro Bowl level. This year, our WRs are running the wrong routes and dropping passes. Blame it on whatever you want to, but coaching isn't the problem. Or take our QB coach, Sam Wyche. He's coached some of the best QBs in the league. He did such a good job that he worked his way up to offensive coordinator and eventually head coach. So when Drew goes out and makes mistakes, I'm not inclined to blame his position coach. Maybe TD hasn't done a good enough job of acquiring smart, disciplined football players. Maybe the offense just needs more time to jell. But whatever other problems this team may have, its position coaches (especially on offense) are rock-solid.
  5. Though the clock expired at a point in the game when the Bills happened to be behind, the fact remains they were dominant throughout.
  6. I see we have a lot of Shane Matthews fans. Or at least, people who believe that even a washed-up journeyman like him would be better than Bledsoe.
  7. I think that if we had a good offensive line, we could get by with Drew. It wouldn't be great, but it'd be enough to get by.
  8. Hey, don't worry about it man.
  9. The problem with Todd's title was that it referred to people as "morons" for taking a certain position. Mine didn't. Case closed.
  10. I think we can get a 2nd round pick for him.
  11. Yeah, I should have included TH's bad running game in the poll. I was tempted to create an "other" option, but I realized that everyone would vote "other" and say, "all of the above."
  12. Dude, it's just a topic title. I didn't have the room to write a title like, "should Bledsoe be benched immediately, when Losman returns, when Losman enters his second year, or not at all?"
  13. I haven't seen many games (I live out of town) so I really don't know what our worst problem is.
  14. The problem I had with Todd's poll is that it forced people to either say, "benching Bledsoe will solve all our problems," or "we should keep Bledsoe on the field." Most fans don't believe that either option is right. I don't really see how the yes/no question you suggest would do a better job of letting fans express their opinions than the poll I designed.
  15. Just curious about which of the problems people see as the worst.
  16. I'm not saying that benching Drew would fix every problem on this team. I'm not even saying that the QB spot is the weakest link on this team--that's a question for a different pole? All I'm asking is which QB would give our team its best chance to win.
  17. The thing I like about Losman is that he is used to playing behind a lousy offensive line. He has learned to make plays even so. But watching Carson Palmer struggle in Cinncinnatti is making me a little nervous about throwing Losman to the wolves.
  18. Just curious about how people feel about Bledsoe.
  19. I hate to break this to you, but there is a right way and a wrong way to design a survey. The right way is to ask questions in a neutral way: "On a scale of 1 - 7, how reliable is a Ford Focus?" The wrong way is to ask a question that expressed an opinion. Some researchers would argue that a question like "So how many morons actually think.., ...that replacing Drew will fix it all?" may very subtly hint at an opinion.
  20. Here are some things we can say when the Bills next lose. Feel free to add anything to this thread, especially if it's humorous. "Time expired before the Bills had scored enough points to win." "The Bills brought an exciting, dominant team to the field. Squeezing all that excellent play into just 60 minutes of gametime was like squeezing Oprah into a size 2 dress. It just couldn't be done. This resulted in a final score which showed only the beginning of their domination. While the final score reflected only a fraction of what the Bills are capable of, it fully reflected the maximum extent of the other team's possible achievement, resulting in the other team actually scoring more points than the Bills during the game's first 60 minutes. Despite the other team's fast start, it is clear the Bills were more dominant and successful overall." "The most crucial stretches of the game were early in the first quarter, halfway through the second quarter, and the end of the fourth quarter. The Bills outscored the other team 13-0 during those stretches; displaying their hallmark dominance when things really mattered. While the other team was the lucky beneficiary of statistically anomolous events--thereby attaining a final score slightly higher than that of the Bills--it is clear the Bills were the better team. They proved that by outscoring the other team 13-0 in those crucial stretches." "The Bills overcame the hardship of four interceptions and a lost fumble to attain a score just 14 points lower than that of the Ravens. A team with five turnovers going against it has no business staying within 14 points of its opponents. The Bills did, and that shows they were the real victors this Sunday."
  21. RJ had more mobility. Drew gets hurt less. So maybe it's even.
  22. I live out of town, so I didn't get to see the game. How well did Lee Evans play? I like to see our younger guys doing well, because it means we have a bright future.
  23. We should be willing to trade him inside the division for the same reason that Belichick traded us Bledsoe.
