I see this everyday in my industry, and most of the time that tact is the correct way to go about it.

My musical journey has been rock in the mid 80s, then metal (Metallica), progressive metal (Tool, Dream Theater), instrumental prog (LTE), instrumental djent, pop djent (Vola), and now I'm rounding back home to more jazz/fusion instrumental bands like SP. I'll probably get into Coltrane/Miles Davis 50-60s cool jazz in another 10 years, then finish with old school original jazz when I die.

The distinction daz is trying to make is asinine, and makes me think might have just appeared on the earth instead of the normal gestation & birthing process. On inspections: To inspect cars in NYS, a shop has to spend a one time $20k cost on the computer hardware needed. But who are we kidding, the state will change and require new hardware probably every 5-7 years. Additionally, I believe they have to pay yearly for a subscription to allow them the live connection to the NYS servers, although the mechanic I knew didn't go into those details. Imagine all the NYS inspections shops smattered around the state, and quickly you realize the inertia already in motion. Ain't no way the state nor mechanics will give up this racket. Too much time/money invested to go back. Just be lucky it is still $21, pleeb.

Doing it today, but it is costly and has no commercial value. Only done when gov't subsidies are in play. I do like the idea of putting in liquid form at the bottom of the ocean, but holy crap that'll be expensive. Probably have to start by taking away everyone's social security so we can fund that effort.

I thought it was the old trope - everything happens for a reason. But I agree with you, that reason sucks a fat one. We lost an 7 year old niece to an aggressive form of brain cancer; that makes you question a God that pulls that crap.

In 2024 it looks silly to you, but know that was the common farming family life until the 1940s. They'd have 5-7 kids cause 1-2 of them would get taken out from some reason. That Job story was like looking in a mirror to them. And <gasp> some rural families still go about life that way.
