  1. I believe this is also the bill that they kept adding pork (or "sweeteners") to to secure the needed votes. So it may be the most disgraceful thing I can remember the House ever doing. Way to go, Nancy!
  2. Thanks, cousin. I have a perverse pride in being one of the only people in the universe who openly likes that movie. "Don't just stand there! Kill something!" Dennis Hopper rules.
  3. I actually brought this up over on page 2 of the now five-page global warming/Alaska Darin versus PatSack thread but PatSack was too busy talking about his feelings and his hopes and dreams for mankind to address it. I thought it was an old Exxon oil ship. It doesn't matter. As long as there are mutant whale monsters or whatever, Mars will make an awesome WaterWorld.
  4. Yeah, either that or I'm too busy at work during the day to write monster-sized posts on this message board to pompous !@#$s like you. Look at this crap you wrote below. This reads like self-parody: Do you talk like that in real life? "Hello, my name is Mr. Smith, and I represent the search for truth. The aspiration for man to improve himself. And the hope that our children are free from fear and harm." And then you can continue: "And as the protector of truth and justice in the universe, I know the best way to ensure that my children are always free from fear is to make sure that they are always aware of the global warming that is going to kill them all and that they never, ever question it or consider any evidence against it. Because that's silly. And the scientists that don't believe in man-made global warming care nothing for truth or enlightenment." Sorry if I'm not totally convinced that the earth's climate is rapidly spinning out of control because of emissions (not that emissions are good) but if buying into everything Al Gore says makes you the representation of the search for truth and the aspiration for all mankind to join hands across the world and sing together in perfect harmony until the end of time, then I guess maybe I should take a closer look.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to type all that.
  6. Well, you know what they say: "Fool me once, shame on.........you. You....um.....you can't fool me again!" That's a good idea, except that my BDay thread fizzled and died this year. My approval numbers must be down.
  7. Thanks for the tip. If they'd had a Losman or Evans throwback I would've picked one up.
  8. I respect Snow if only because he's so much more competent than the guys that came before him. And he deserves some credit for waking up every morning, knowing he's going to work to see David Gregory and Helen Thomas every day, and not putting a shotgun in his mouth.
  9. PatSack is kicking ass the same way a squirrel kicks the ass of the car that just ran it over. Splat. So far his argument is something along the lines of "90% of scientists think there's global warming and if you don't agree then you don't think for yourself or you failed Earth Science. And my grandpa lived through the Great Depression." Anyone who really believes that global warming is caused by man might as well kiss their ass goodbye. Even if the U.S. spends the trillions it would take to actually decrease America's emissions as our population increases, China's rapidly growing economy will more than make up for those emissions and they'll increase worldwide.
  10. Ronald Reagan was a scumbag and Al Gore is trying to save the human race? When you get a chance, drop me a postcard from whatever wacky alternate reality you live in. Do people greet each other with "goodbye" and say "hello" when they're leaving too? Al Gore was in the White House from 1993 to 2001 but decided to save the world.....now. Sorry if people are a little skeptical about his motives. Oh, and that thing about the skewed data he presents doesn't help either. Nice try. I've never heard any scientist say the earth isn't in a "general warming progression" but the cause of that progession is what the debate is about. The ice caps are melting on Mars too, so either our emissions are really out of control or there's more to this phenomena than Gore wants us to believe. Not that a consensus in the scientific community confirms anything. There was scientific resistance to AC current, wireless communication, and the earth being round back in the day. And in the 70's, scientists were freaking out about global cooling. The scientific community always agrees on something until they decide to agree on something else. Who gave who a cushy life? What? And you're right, nothing says "dogma" like providing links to studies that raise questions about commonly held beliefs. Thank goodness you're here to express what "most" of us think.
  11. No way! Polls are awesome. /RCow
  12. ......and that's the news from Saudi Arabia! Such wonderful people!
  13. I also think Democracy works best when people aren't responsible for actually taking the time to learn how to vote before voting. Better to encourage everyone to just do whatever they want with the ballot and try to figure it all out later. Responsibility is hard. Or we could just do what CBS News did on election day in 2000 and declare a winner hours before the end of voting just based on who we want to win.
  14. He's right. The chant is "Let's Go Buf-fa-lo!" "Let's Go Sabres" is generic and stupid.
  15. Brad Riter kicks ass.
  16. "They.....they put a suit on it!" "Oh look, his face is turning red. He's like a little strawberry!" "Who.....is the freakin' genius.....that put suspenders on him????"
  17. This sounds like a great idea: Yes, I'm quite sure that rounding up the WNY singles that have absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to be on a Friday afternoon is the best way to show off Buffalo's best and brightest. And the City Hall cafeteria? Almost too romantic.....
  18. Most of America thought Saddam was behind 9/11 and yet no one has ever met anyone who thought that. Kinda weird, huh?
  19. OH JESUS! Something uncommon happened!!! Wow, the Bush administration did something and made it look terrible because they couldn't explain themselves or communicate with the public. Nothing uncommon about that.
  20. GET 'ER DONE, MARV!!!!! Oh, wait....
  21. Miller has been pretty lousy lately. Probably doesn't help that Lindy pretty much never wants to rest him. I'm not going to hit the panic button, but I am going to dust it off and clear some room for when we do hit it.
  22. She was desperate enough to whip out a fake Southern accent for a day last week. And a week before that she was talking about how religious she was. Earlier this week she compared herself to JFK. But she's also been a true New Yorker her whole life. I think it's pretty pathetic for someone that old to have an identity crisis but apparently some people think it's a good reason to make her President.
  23. Happy Birthday, Big Cat. Thank you for both appreciating the rabid fans in Buffalo and putting up with all our stupid crap/mood swings. Here's looking forward to a lot more success later this year. (I had no idea JP and I were almost the exact same age. I guess it's pretty tough to tell which of us is more famous/rich/successful at this point in our lives. I don't want to start a huge argument thread so we'll call it a draw for now. )
  24. Congratulations! Let the adventure begin.
  25. Alright, remember when the Sabres traded for Chris Gratton? And all the fans in Buffalo got really excited about Chris Gratton even though we knew he was Chris Gratton? And the national media heaped praise on Darcy Regier for bringing him in? That's what's happening right now in Ravens Land and on ESPN/NFL Network. Basically Baltimore got a player with a name that people recognize and now everyone has managed to convince themselves that a mediocre player several years into his career is going to blossom because he's in a new place. Yeah, good luck with that. Players are who they are. Ray Lewis marching around isn't going to cause Willis to develop some character. Lewis is not going to make him faster (he's slower now that he was a couple years ago already) and Lewis is not going to make him more decisive when he's looking to find a hole. Willis didn't like Buffalo because the nightlife sucked compared to Miami. Well, guess what? The nightlife in Baltimore sucks compared to Miami too. Willis is a stupid person but it won't take more than one night of patrolling for new baby mamas for him to realize that he'd still rather be in Miami than Buffalo or Baltimore. Willis always seems like a good player in March or April, but not so much when you're actually watching him. He's not going to turn it around because he just doesn't have it. As for Chris Gratton, he can take solace in the fact that he's not a complete piece of human garbage when he's not playing sports.
