What ever it takes to get elected Right??
SilverNRed replied to Helmet_hair's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
My grandmother thought she was really coming to help. She was 84 or 85 at the time, though, and I don't know what everyone else's excuse was. Politicians in general are people who crave power and attention but Hillary Clinton seems like the most insincere politician I've ever seen. It seems like she will literally say anything if she thinks it will help her win. And the weird part is that people in her campaign are pretty open about constantly trying to change her image. -
Harry Reid's deal in the desert

Does anyone think that? Most politicians give off a creepy vibe. I don't know if it's a need for attention or power or what, but it's creepy. -

In other words, the situation hasn't changed at all since before this new reality show. Anyone with male genitalia has a shot with those two. -

It's just proof you don't even read the links you post here, let alone think about what you read and then form your own opinions. If you had read the link I provided (which you didn't) you'd know he was in a specific province (Anbar) which had been devastated by fighting (in Fallajuh). He also made of point of talking about what a slow process it is, which I think any person with common sense would expect. Yes, I read the rest of the article and, unlike you, I actually understood what I was reading and how antiwar.com was trying to fog up the picture to make their point. Basically we have (more) proof that you don't read the links you bring here, you don't interpret information for yourself, and you really aren't interested in information that runs counter to what you already believe (even if it's from someone who has been to Iraq). But that hasn't stopped you from starting thread after thread after thread. As RK said, you're basically just a stupid little child that we all roll our eyes at. Your stuff reads like something a conservative would write to make liberals look bad. -
Best wishes for your father.

Doesn't Look Like 'Enormous Progress' To Me
SilverNRed replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
1. Cheney didn't say "enormous progress." He said "enormous successes." This is important because you are misquoting the very quotes you thought were so important that you started a thread about them. It's that attention to detail that has earned you so much respect around here. 2. I think there have been successes because there are lots of guys like Reist who come back and talk about them. I know you think you're smarter than the guy who just served three tours of duty there. So maybe he's just putting "lipstick on a pig" right? Bottom line is that tonight you started another inane thread in which you copied an article from antiwar.com that misrepresents the latest events in Iraq. The Associated Press is no fan of the war, but even their article doesn't try to confuse the insurgents/militants who target civilians with the civilians who are killed. Then you tried to cover your tracks by taking a dump on a guy who just served his third tour of duty in Iraq. Way to go. -

You do realize (maybe you don't) that it is Iraqi militias who are targeting civilians over there right? And therefore killing those particular Iraqis would count as progress. I'm pretty sure the U.S. troops taking part in the battle feel that way, even if you don't. Marine Brig. Gen. David G. Reist is proud of his accomplishments over three tours of duty in Iraq but if he wants to tell you about them you say it's "lipstick on a pig." Tell us again how you support the troops. What happened to you basing opinions on what people who had been over there were saying? Oh, that's right, you're full of crap. We're going to save this thread and put it alongside the one about how happy you were about Rick Santorum's daughter crying to prove how brilliant and wonderful you are. -
I can imagine it. And I would love it. It would be wonderful to have that "we're in the big game" feeling again. I remember doing absolutely nothing all day on those Sundays. Just pacing around the house, looking at the clock, and waiting for the game to start. Yeah, they always ended badly but I'd love to have that much on the line again as a Bills fan. Even if we ended up losing another one. I think the Bills would be the team everyone pulled for should they make the Super Bowl ever again. We're basically the Chicago Cubs at this point. The team is better known for its fan base than winning the big games.

Groundhog Day. The "404 Iraqis" killed in the sub-header includes the 250-300 insurgents killed by combined Iraqi police and U.S. forces! So, yeah, I guess when you mourn the !@#$s that our troops and the Iraqi police are killing, things look pretty terrible. I can't believe Molson couldn't find time to post this article. -

Good thing we don't have anyone like that here at PPP. -
No, this only applies to you because I can see you are full of hate (for Bush, Cheney, etc.) and that you are only here to pump up the Democrats. You do the same schtick with every new thread (and that's a lot of threads). There isn't one soundbyte you've missed. You have a strange, sad history of posts here. A few weeks back you were telling us how Bush is a worse person than O.J. Simpson and before that you were telling us how happy you were to see Rick Santorum's daughter cry. No offense, but I don't take you seriously. Criticism of Bush is appropriate and deserved on many fronts, but I can't stand your constant barrage of new threads full of anti-Bush soundbytes (the latest was calling the war "Bush's adventure" a few posts back). You can't even explain your own views, which more than one poster has asked you to do. Just stop already.

This, coming from one of the most shameless party hacks this board has ever seen, is one of the greatest moments of irony in PPP history. There are people around here who have valid criticisms of Bush, etc. You aren't one of them. You log in every day to start a new thread about how much you don't like Bush/Cheney - usually by copying and pasting something you read.

I doubt Cheney was saying that the only problem in Iraq was our crappy media. Not that it matters. You are only here to say and believe anything you can that makes the Bush administration look bad. As Darin showed a few posts back, you haven't given any thought to the long term ramifications of withdrawal.

"Something" needs to be done! SOMETHING! I can't believe we didn't think of that before. We should do "Something"!What an incredible plan! Alert the Pentagon! While we're at it, we should do "something" to fix Buffalo's economy and "something else" to cure cancer. I know. Oh God how I know...... Yeah, that "definently" makes sense. Cheney wants to keep Iraq in really bad shape for the next administration because that will make him look better. I like how you give Cheney motives that wouldn't make sense to anyone in the world.

OK, again, what? So? That's how Congress works. Just do or say whatever sounds good at the time because there's an election coming up. I'd never expect any Senator or Congressman to advocate something for this country that is necessary but unpopular. Which is pretty much why I never expect them to accomplish anything good. It's self-preservation. D.C. is Hollywood for ugly people. It's pretty much why the Democrats were for the war until it started taking too long and costing too many lives and lost popularity and now they're against it. Just sway with the masses and call it leadership. Also, the "progress" would be the provinces that are handed over to complete Iraqi control, such as Najaf and Maysan in the last couple months. Not to mention Iraq's growing economy or the large regions where violence really isn't a problem. 1. The media is composed almost entirely of idiots. 2. To say they are doing it "on purpose" is a little more murky. I think they only look for evidence of what they believe (like you). The idea that the media is presenting a balanced, view full of the situation in Iraq is laughable. Why is the surge in Cheney's personal interest? Cheney is one of the only people not running for re-election. It's more plausible he's one of the only people not working for self-preservation. The man obviously couldn't give a !@#$ what people think of him. Not to mention that he's set for life and has health problems. If he only cared about himself, he'd have retired long ago and be enjoying the good life. In your screwed up mind, is it even possible that he's doing what he thinks is right?

"Outright murder"? What? No offense, but I tend to think Dick Cheney is more well-informed than the "America public." The American public is responsible for the popularity of CSI: Miami, Paris Hilton, "Brangelina", Survivor, Fear Factor, the new Sabres jerseys, etc. Oh, and the average American still gets his/her news from retards like Dan Rather and Brian Williams (the latter had an on-air orgasm at the sight of Nancy Pelosi surrounding herself with children earlier this month). Bottom line: 1. The media doesn't cover any of the progress made in Iraq. Ever. You mean to tell me they can't find any good news from there in the last three years? And what about all the troops that come back and think the media is painting a completely different picture than what they saw? 2. Coverage of Iraq has reached the point where it's as embarassing as the coverage of Katrina. The Associated Press is never going to find Jamil Hussein, their single source for some completely bogus stories. Now we have to wonder how many other stories are completely made up or just rumors reported as fact. Cheney is probably right. The media knows what they think the story is and just look to report things that work within that mindset.

Now That Ticket Prices Have Been Raised
SilverNRed replied to Buffalo Baumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fans of the team with the cheapest tickets in the league have no right to complain. Either buy the cheapest tickets in the league or don't complain when the team moves. Buffalo doesn't have a God-given right to have an NFL team forever. It's not Ralph Wilson's fault there is so little money in this area. Western New York has spent decade after decade running itself into the ground while other cities and regions have built themselves up. With some creativity I think the Bills could market themselves much better in the region and survive but when fans are whining about the lowest ticket prices in the league, you have to wonder why the league wouldn't want the team to start over someplace that makes more sense economically and in terms of population. -
Guns N' Roses' - Chinese Democracy

Some of those songs leaked to the internet last year. I remember hearing IRS and maybe Madagascar. The release of this album is like a running joke. Ten years and counting....
