  1. I'd like to see a regional Beirut/Beer Pong breakdown. Buffalo, I think, seems to be pretty solidly in the Pong category, but up here in Western Mass, we're consistently Beiruters. Weigh in?
  2. Am I an idiot for thinking that this post is slightly in jest? I mean, maybe (J/K) means, "Like Jim Kelly", but I dunno.
  3. He's a free agent? Well, that means he passes my test, anyway. I hear that JP-era's is a little less stringent.
  4. Come on, Fla, with Rivers and Manning, there was no way the could have gotten value from a top pick like that - some dude from the MAC with a dumb name and a squirrely punk from Tulane...
  5. What happend to DaQuixers anyway? That dude liked emo. Or something.
  6. Can someone brief me on the rules of the MAC tourney? How many teams make it, who gets byes, etc.
  7. BUt is there an actual plan for the 2005-2006 all-Replacement Stanley Cup champion Buffalo Sabres to don blues and golds?
  8. Well, unless we want to pay Jennings like a Left Tackle, he won't play center for us. This isn't Madden.
  9. I'm sure he likes Williams. Much like TD probably likes, say, Peyton Manning. Doesn't mean he's going to pursue him.
  10. I mean, on some level, franchising him and trading him for a 7th round pick in 2008 is better than just letting him walk (well, not exactly, we are due some compensation, but presuming that we sign sufficient talent to cancel that out). But it's quite possible that nobody in the league is willing to suck down that kind of money for Jennings - certainly we aren't. He can happily sign his tender and then give us the finger. PS I presume that the franchise-tagged tender offer is guaranteed money? We couldn't, say, franchise him, shop around, and then cut him with 0 paid?
  11. I'm surprised the NFL makes it so complex. I guess contracts are semi-secret still, but would it be that much of a problem to have the teams cap numbers regularly and publicly available?
  12. Sure would - but he's not going to come here to be our #3 guy and get #3 money, when he's pretty clearly #1 talent. Somebody will scoop him up to start - anyone in the Randy Moss Circus, for sure.
  13. Well, for one thing, I can't think of a single center or guard who has ever got himself the franchise tag, and it seems like the Damien Woodys of the world would have managed to work that out.
  14. Fezmid and I are no longer friends! Good one.
  15. A 2nd or 3rd round choice for Tommy Maddox? Who are they kidding?
  16. I'm willing to spend $10 million less than the top team in the NHL. I'm just pissed when we spend $50 million less. Ideally, you'd have a cap that would have every team at roughly the same amount of team salary. But it just doesn't quite happen. And hey, even in the NFL, there are teams that are a big chunk under the cap - including the Eagles, who I think have about $15 million of space. They did pretty OK.
  17. That all reminds me of the time I sued Sony because their DVDs wouldn't play in my toaster. Bastards.
  18. Also, it's the guys like Jagr and Sundin that are backing the whole operation. Chris Taylor isn't out there striking, the salary cap wouldn't hurt him, and the NHL plans to raise his salary. But there's no season for him, it's not like there's even a picket line to cross. I think it's high time for replacement players to come in, give guys like this a chance.
  19. What's really amazing is that at the end of that article, they want Tom Donahoe to stand up in front of the media and say it was a bad move. Why? What could that possibly accomplish besides making everyone involved look bad. Bledsoe's been released. That's an admission of failure with as much ballyhoo as ever. We don't need to wipe it in his face - Drew's, if nothing else, a class guy. Has any GM every gone up there and said "I apologize to the fans for making a bad decision?" Ryan Leaf? Rick Mirer? No! It's just not how the game is played.
  20. Hovan would be an interesting project, anyway. I wouldn't give him more than the minimum, and I wouldn't really expect him to have a job in September, but hey, who knows?
  21. They think ol' Gus is the solution to their QB problems? I mean, I know he was a decent backup here and there, when he had to be but man...a cooled-off AJ Feely at best.
  22. Word is that Franks will get the Franchise tag. Oh well.
