  1. look at what the others are saying...i am not alone in my paranoia...if an employer views you as simply doing it for the money, then they know that the next opportunity that comes along you will do the same thing...i don't know if its so much paranoia as knowing you are painting yourself as someone not dedicated to his job or company...not that you owe 100% dedication...
  2. well then you should notice, my 'hahahahahaha' wasn't based on the creativity of his post, it was based on his funnyitivity of his post....
  3. i would think if the company was at all vindictive, they let you accept the counter offer, dismiss the other offer....then shortly thereafter they can your ass for wanting to leave in the first place...
  4. I get that completely. My opinion was swayed when I saw these bands live. Now keep in mind, save for skillrex, the others are bands that have someone playing on their computer along with the other insturmentalists, but i just watched some dude, 'pretty lights' on youtube, and while i don't think i could plunk down cash to attend one of his shows, it was very very good, the energy, the crowd interactions...cool stuff, but i get you pov
  5. jw, as much as these types of discussions can become contentious, they are fun to see what other people listen to. I am always amazed at the number of people here that are dream theater fans, personally while I may have heard of them, i don't think i have ever heard them, but there is a group here that are hardcore fans, and it inspires me to go out and see what i am missing. And while i may disagree with some of the labels you put on bands(under rated, over rated) it gives me persepective that I may not have considered. You aren't going to change my mind on bands that I love to listen to that you 'loathe'(ie DMB, Coldplay) I appreciate and completely get your disdain. Music is such an important element in my life as well as others and its fun and healthy to engage in these kinds of discussions, even if they do get somewhat snippy at times, its what being a fan is all about.
  6. i saw that last night...man these things get to me...we takes so much for granted...i could not imagine the sensation of hearing things for the first time...i had a friend on facebook who's daughter got the implants and he put video up...goodness gracious, it got dusty really quick
  7. Donna Jean Goodchaux.... :-)
  8. Great series! Happy the Heat won. Wish it didn't come down to Duncan & Manu missing an easy shot and a turnover. Would have rather they made those plays.
  9. see what all your bitching and whining has led to? I hope y'all are happy. I don't see any way Miami can beat San Antonio tonight in game 7 without him http://www.theonion.com/articles/lebron-james-announces-retirement,32900/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=SocialMarketing&utm_campaign=standard-post:headline:default
  10. they have named the replacement guitarist....interesting sounding dude http://www.spin.com/articles/replacements-har-mar-superstar-guitar-reunion-shows/
  11. I am watching the Inside the Actors Studio video with him and its really good...up until yesterday, he was always tony soprano, no matter what movie...i am going to watch his work in a whole different light.
  12. if i am reading it correctly, the fmv is 50K, she is asking for 100K...not sure of the property tax implications if you pay double the house value, does that now increase the tax base rate to 100K, still I can't totally fault him...paying double for the house, no matter how much he raised wouldn't be ok with me either..
  13. i am just f***ing with you...any personality/mental/physical disorder is serious to those that it affects, sometimes some of us on the outside look at them as if they are fake conditions, but if they are real to that person then it is something serious...
  14. i do it by being very collaborative in my jobs, i work well with other teams and try to learn how what i do touches other teams upstream and downstream...you gain knowledge and trust from your co-workers, they leave and they remember you when opportunities present themselves...has happened in my last few positions...Circuit City people contacted me and brought me to GSI/ebay...ebay people contacted me at my current position....former co-worker contacted her recruiter about me for this opportunity...
  15. thanks for the feedback guys. i am in a good place at my current job, sure the lure of a really big/strong company is strong, but sometimes its just not the right time...granted had they bitten on my initial salary requirements, i absolutely would have leapt and no one would have faulted me for it
  16. i really dislike both sides in this issue...paparazzi are absolute scum...justin beiber is an absolute jackass....is he really that worried about having his picture taken? sure i know photogs make mad money on those pictures but jesus, what kind of life where you have to walk around with your hand covering you face and wearing a dumb ass hat
  17. 54 because, well, you know...I can't....
  18. i think we would need to do some field research to see if we can accept your hypothesis....we will need to gather up some theorems and postulates and some variables and a control group, then, and only then will be able to accept your claim...
  19. i have said all along I have had a hard time becoming a fan of the white stripes for the reasons jw so eloquently pointed out...and again, i am going to make the leap to Jack White as my reasoning...he tries too hard to do something different each time. By all accounts and from my uninformed opinion, he is uber-talented and i think he is trying to make rock & roll relevant. But I have a hard time with him as the cheshire cat, stick with something, then move on...don't move on constantly. I am trying to listen to them and get past this feeling and i really do enjoy their/his music, i just have a hard time looking past my image. That said, DBT are really a treasure to american rock and roll music and I enjoy just about everything they do, and their live shows are so frigging dynamic. Patterson Hood is doing a fabulous job, too bad we couldn't see Hood & Jason Isbell co-exist for longer than they did, but it seems to be working out for both as Isbell conquers his demons his already incredible musicianship is now taking on a whole new feeling...
