I was thinking that same thing watching the game. KC's DBs were playing up on the line on a lot of plays. They were getting pressure on Burrow most of the game and some of those pressures/sacks were on blitzes. With tight coverage, you can blitz Burrow.

The Bills DBs played way too far off of the line.  Burrow can hit an open receiver on the run in 2.6 seconds on average.  Why did we play them so loosely?   Are the Bills that worried about the deep passes?

Agree and disagree with several of your points

I'm not advocating a blow out scenario. I would have very much liked to see Fraizer go. Also, an upgrade at OC is something I wouldn't be against. Perhaps, that's a blowout situation in your mind?

Beane and McD are good at building a young team and a winning culture. Where we disagree is can they proceed to the next level? They have failed on so many levels in the post season. As stated previously, they haven't even been able to advance to an AFC title game.

Lastly, the team has continually failed to adequately upgrade both sides of the lines. Despite Beane and the Bills organization's attempts. One failure after another. You know exactly what I'm talking about. Logic tells me that they will likely have more misses than hits.

No panic here. I'm reading the writing on the wall. Don't be surprised if the Dolphins win the division and the Bills fail to make the playoffs. The Bills are in regression mode.

I could see a year of regression and still making the playoffs.  It could take 2 smart drafts to retool.

Sorry, this is not over-reaction Monday or Tuesday, This is reality and you poked holes in your own story.

    We need.

    Depth at the HB Position

A starting guard (not that we know what one looks like around here lately)

    A starting RT. Ditto

a true #2 WR and not a fake want a bee.

3 starters on offense. You following me so far?

    A Starting DT

A Starting ILB (god knows we wont have the money to pay Edmunds)

A Starting FS. Poyer likely not staying either

    3 starters on Defense.

    6 huge holes.

I have only touched on depth at the HB position.

OH YEA. And we start at less then 10 mil to the good at the beginning of the year. Maybe restructuring JA and adding 10-15 mil will help but we have 37 contracts going into the new football season. You can maybe argue the DT position or the LB position... but come on... our depth on both lines is sloppy at best.

This is not about over reaction... oh no no no... this is the reality of the situation.

Then people talking about "oh we stuch a bad team with holes then why did we win 14 games"

    1. We have a dude named Josh Allen

    2. Our Defense is built to beat the average at best teams but we tend to struggle with good teams... 2-3 years in a row.

This isn't over reaction. this is a dose of reality..

I had 6 holes, not 6 new starters - and my list is not the same as yours, we do not need a DT for example.  Our RT played injured all year, and he missed most of the off season workouts.

They can fix a few position in the draft, I admit they have challenges with the cap but they are not as bad talent wise as many “fans” say.  Every team still in the playoffs right now has a weak spot or two.  Or is an injury away from a big drop off.

Your assessment on our defense is hilarious. Beane and McDermott building a defense to beat average teams. Yes, that was their plan.  Great insight.  That defense did great for most of the season despite a decimated backfield.

The6 can fire the coordinators I won’t care either.

Go pick another team if this is too much for you.

No panic here whatsoever. Just a breath of reality here. The Bills do have a lot of holes and your take mentions them. You properly admit the cap space limitations and no premium picks. That's called being handcuffed.

Based on past drafts and acquisitions why would you have confidence that this organization will get it right? You have pounded the table for years about the oline. Three years and counting. The Oline still isn't good which has been a consistent theme for years. But heck, this is the year they will get it right despite the above mentioned circumstances. Based on this logic, I have some land to sell you if you are interested.

When have the Bills coached up their players. Isn't that what many have said about Kormer? The Oline is going to be solid because he will coach them up. How's that working out? How have the dline guys been coached up?

The coaching staff especially the coordinators are the weak spot of the team. Dorsey and Fraizer were abused vs Cinci. Coach McD will not lead this team to the Superbowl with this supporting cast.

I agrue after next season's disappointment McD and Beane will stay aboard and blame the failure ob Dorsey and Fraizer. They will be the fall guys.

Even with the holes are not that far away.  I have confidence because McDermott and Beane are actually good at their jobs.  You don’t string together the wins they have without being good.   If they replace their coordinators so be it.

They can address the holes this off-season and it will be a challenge.  If it take two seasons then so be it.

You can’t blow this up with Josh Allen in his prime.  Just retool and keep trying.

You are panicking like this is the 1970, or 1984, or 2001 Bills.

You don't see a lot of holes? You have to be kidding me. You are as good as your last game. Did you see the last game the Bills played? Both lines got destroyed, the Bills secondary couldn't stop the pass and the line couldn't stop the run. The Bills offense scored 10 points. The best WR for the Bills was Cole Beasley. I did like the Bills punter though.

Huge over reaction.  Take a breath.  We need help on the OL which I stated many times over the past 3 years.   We can use Legit #2 WR.

The DL needs some help too.  Von will be back, that’s a start.

I listed 6 positions that need help, DB included.   Rebuild not needed, just a re-tool.  We don’t have cap space or premium draft picks so they have to smart with who they bring in, and coach up the rest.

We were 14-4, they played one bad game, they were mentally spent.  Turn down the panic.

  6. I really don't see a lot of holes, but I see it will be difficult to upgrade as much as needed.

RB - If Singletary leaves we have Cook, can probably find someone in the draft around 4-5 and in free agency

WR - Top 3 spot, next year Shakir should be better and maybe Davis matures more as a full time starter

C/G - Top 3 pick needed,  probably gonna look at F/A as well

CB  - Elam and Benford both showed promise, Tre will be back so will Taron and Dane

S   - Poyer gone, Hyde may be back, Hamlin probably gone -  Top 3 pick here

LB - Edmunds will likely be tagged.

DL - bring back the crew plow Von all season

He's on a twitter roll right now calling out Diggs and Allen and even took a shot at the Damar Hamlin situation. I legit hate this guy and that team more than any other team right now. With this clown and Burrow's arrogance, I say the hell with all the goodwill from the past. I hope (gulp) KC crushes them. Don't see that happening though, unfortunately.

What evidence do you have that Allen is happy with Dorsey and the current state of the offense?

Dorsey was the natural successor to Daboll and clearly Allen endorsed Dorsey at the time because he wanted to keep the offensive success of recent years rolling. People are reading too much into that endorsement beyond that. I doubt very much that Allen has been comfortable with the offensive game plan of "block nobody and hope Josh does something amazing" we've rolled with too many times recently. The last game that seemed to have a coherent offensive gameplan was the first New England game.

You answered your own question (see bold).

Josh was happy that Dorsey got the job, and he said it numerous times.  Working with Dorsey is comfortable for him.

Maybe he needs to get out of that comfort zone to get better and continue learning?  Dorsey probably cannot teach him and help him any more than he has already.   In general, I think the entire offense was predictable and regressed under Dorsey.

First off, I do commend this team - they did well given the bizarre season they endured.  I stayed to the end yesterday just to applaud them for their effort.  I think the season finally caught up to them yesterday, it happens.

One change I support tho is moving on from Dorsey.  So many OCs can make a third string QB look good with an effective system and I just saw a lot of randomness and lack of creativity out of ours.

Gonna be tough next year, we have cap realities to deal with and a pretty tough schedule.  I think next year might be a bit of a step back before we move forward again, sort of like the early Beane/McD years.  That would be a shame tho as Josh is hitting his prime.

We can retool with Josh still in his prime but we cannot do a tear down and rebuild.  That would be too drastic.  They are 14-4, they need some tweaking to get back on track.  Beane has to do his best work to improve this team given the limited cap space and the draft position.

They’re not going to remove a rookie coordinator that their franchise QB likes it’s not happening

Josh is in a comfort zone with Dorsey and as a result he is regressing.  Stats say the offense is top 2,3 4, in almost every category.  But you watch the games, especially the past month, and it looks like a very predictable offense that relies on Josh to be Superman and make a lot of big plays every game.

This is something Allen just cannot maintain.   Burrow hit the high percentage passes to mostly wide open targets. He had time to throw accurately and provide the WR with a chance for YAC.  Josh was hurried and harassed so just getting a catchable ball out there was a challenge.

I don't understand all the deep passes on 3rd and short?  Does Josh not check down on purpose or is this Dorsey?  It is not the way he played last year.

I think Josh has regressed in his game management and his decisions making,  I have to look to Dorsey as the problem.  I would like to see Dorsey go.

The mediocre OL makes everything harder, it starts there.

  11. “We came out flat” is a terrible reason to lose a home game, especially a playoff game.  That is what they are saying.

No doubt something else is wrong inside the locker room and in meeting rooms.  They are stale. They are predictable. They made errors and turnovers constantly in the past month.  They were lucky to play Miami without Tua the week prior.

Recall the MNF game, the Bengals won the coin toss and took the ball. The MNF announcers made this a point that they usually defer but hey wanted to make a statement and score first.  Sure enough, four plays later they score.

Fast forward to yesterday.  Bill win the toss and instead of taking the ball and trying to punch first they differ.  Bengals score on the first series gaining big yards on every play.  Bills go 3 and out, running sideways in the snow,  Bengals score again.  Burrow is 10 of 10, Bengals have 14 points, all before we get a first down.  They had no fight, they had no answers, they weren’t even ready to play.

The Bills had nothing new planned for this game and they learned nothing from the 9 minutes on MNF.  This game was an extension of that game.  The DBs played too far off the line against a QB with fastest release in the league, the Bengals played pitch and catch with ease.  The second TD was most embarrassing as three guys covered a screen and left the dangerous TE alone for an easy score.  This “Tampa 2 whatever it is” is flawed and exposed.

In the AFC, the Bills have now dropped to 3rd, with Miami and Jax closer to them than they are to KC and Cinci.  Two years in a row eliminated in the divisional round. This time no 13 second freaky meltdown, the got beat up from the first play to the last play.

Allen is a great kid but Bills fans that say he is the best weapon in the league are delusional.  He is the #3 QB in the AFC.   It appears he has regressed under Dorsey and he is back to making too many big mistakes, not seeing the field and not being patient.

This Bills team peaked in the first few months of the season and was in decline in the last month.   They still have some good talent but it’s time for re-tooling.  I have no desire to see Dorsey or Frazier back.  They need better lines on both sides of the ball and more play makers.   Their secondary has fallen from a very good unit to below average in just one season (Hyde out, Tre not recovered, Poyer probably leaving).   They have far more needs than premium draft picks and no cap space.

That was a miserable home playoff loss and it says a lot about the state of the team.

  12. Not a rebuild, but a retool.

Beane needs to hit on this draft and hope his last draft (Elam, Cook) make big strides.  We know the trenches are not good enough.  He is working under tough cap constraints.  That could mean a few surprises trying to build more draft capital.  Not enough impact players on this team.

McDermott on solid ground but each coordinator position should be evaluated.

  13. Another very good season that did not met expectations.

I felt some level of concern about this team after Green Bay game.

They have been through a lot.  They really have not played good since prior to Monday Night in Cincinnati. They looked spent.

Retooling is needed while Josh is in his prime.  It will test Beane more than ever before. He needs to find more impact players on both sides of the ball.

In the 2022 offseason, the Bengals signed 3 offensive linemen that range between “good” and “stud” level in Collins, Kappa and Karras. All under 29 years old. The Bills signed 2 retread offensive linemen in Quessenberry (32) and Saffold (34).

In the 2020 and 2021 drafts combined, the Bengals drafted stud WR Jamar Chase (1st round), good WR Tee Higgins (2nd round), and three offensive linemen. Our highest pick at offensive playmaker in that time was Gabe Davis in the 4th round.

Benglas value playmakers and linemen. And they have signed/drafted with that value in mind. I hope we follow suit.

I will agree that the Bills have neglected to use premium picks on OL in the draft.

Note that the Bengals had some premium picks too to get Burrow and elite WR1 and WR2 positions.
