Game week thread - Ravens at Bills SNF

Would like to hear a solid strategy on how the Bills D slows down the raven offense. I can't come up with one. -
Week 1, Nevermores v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!

Ravens 38 Bills 23 This is a terrible matchup for the Bills. Couple in all the Injuries too. I expect the Ravens offense to shred the young, depleted, and injured Bills D. I would like to hear how you think the Bills D will contain the Ravens offense. On offense, I think the Ravens will sell out to stop the run, crowd the passing lanes, and force the Bills to beat them deep. Hope I'm wrong. I'm going to bet $100 on the Ravens to win. I'd rather still have the Bills win. Hope I'm wrong. -

If that pass was caught (should have been) it would have gone down in the history books as one of the best passes ever under the circumstances. It was a phenomenal pass by Allen -

Your CB2 position was dicey early last season but played pretty well at the end of the season. Let's see if that position gets stronger. I'd be pretty frustrated if I were a Raven fan. You arguably had the best roster 2 years and counting. Lost a stinker at home vs KC and lost to Buffalo by playing sloppy. I think the Ravens were the better team. Not sure what it's gonna take for the Ravens not to choke again. -

For me, this game is more than just W or a L. A Bills loss isn't going to break the Bills season. They will be fine and I expect them to go on a nice little winning streak after this game. It's a pretty soft schedule on paper. However, it's the bigger picture with regards to the AFC playoff seeding. Maybe it's too early to focus on this? The winner of this game has a nice advantage of hosting a playoff game if they meet again. I think that's pretty big. -

Good optimism here. It certainly has merit. The Bills offense should be great. Top 5 or better is very realistic. The defense is another debate. The young DTs are truly wild cards and playing the Ravens in their early career isn't ideal. It's a pretty big ask even for the most optimistic. The Ravens online in the running game are monsters. Henry is a horse coming at you. Let's face it, this is a very bad match up for the light in the ass Bills defense. They will have to load the box and hope Lamar plays poorly. This fan isn't going to gloss over glaring concerns at safety and CB2. It's a legitimate concern going into this game. Obviously, the Bills brass hasn't figured it out. Who think Tre White is a solid CB2? Bishop has shown very little. Rapp is seemingly always hurt. The Bills back end D certainly seems like a work in progress. Not the ideal situation when you are going up against an elite team called the Ravens. Hell yeah I'm concerned. Hopefully, it all gets figured out come playoff time. -

The best Bills path of victory is to create turnovers on defense and longer ball control scores on offense. Of course, that's a bit simplified but those are two key components to a victory. The Bills path to a win is dramatically reduced if the Ravens play a clean game. This isn't an ideal matchup for the Bills. -

I agree. Sure seems like the defense is a work in progress with all the new additions including coaches. I think they will have a decent learning curve and hopefully by playoff time they are a refined unit. The Ravens week one is a beast of a challenge. -

I can totally demolish your theme in "13 seconds." -

Good post. I'd be surprised if Strong gets the nod if Tre can't go. McD is pretty hesitant to do so in the past. -

Stop with your cherry picking. Maybe you should go and watch the replay of the 13 second game. That should tell you all you need to know about Josh Allen. They guy is special. -

This is only a half truth and pretty disingenuous. You can't just dismiss the turnovers or say what ifs. They happened and the Bills capitalized on them. Fact is they didn't play a clean game. This game was nothing like the first meeting where Baltimore blew out the Bills. Stop with your nonsense. Yes, the Ravens offense and Lamar were handling the Bills defense. However, that doesn't equate to the same outcome this year. Let's see how things play out. Personally, I think the Ravens have the best roster in the league. In the playoffs, the Ravens lost a home game to KC and last year's loss to Buffalo. I'd argue with confidence the Ravens were the better team in both of those playoff losses. What's fairly accurate is neither team has gotten it done come playoff time. Arguably both teams had rosters capable of making it to the Super Bowl. Allen has been nothing short of spectacular in his playoff appearances. Lamar has not! I hope both QBs have rings when their careers expire. -
Feels great to be back to be honest. It's great to converse with everyone again. I'll do my best not to be a downer. The greatness of this forum are the differences of ideas and opinions.

Thanks. Very good point. I stand corrected. Not sure why they just didn't pick him up as a coach. I think his playing days are over. What an impact player for several years. He was damn good and one of my favorite players to watch.
-
A bit perplexed on how we are talking about picking up a safety and the season hasn't even started. Doesn't exactly scream confidence going into the regular season. McD is excellent at coaching up this position but I'm not even sure he is confident in the group he has. The secondary looks to be vulnerable going into season 2025. I'm thinking this will be the major obstacle to getting to the super bowl.

Christian Wilkins released for kissing team mate

That would be worst case scenario. My biggest question and concern is the Bills defense. They will need to be able to create turnovers. A McD has consistently done this. At some point regression seems logical but I think the trend continues. Of course, a lot rides on the health of the players and the younger players development. Let's see how things play out.
-
Not sure I'm totally on board because of their lack of playoff success. I do think they got better and their roster is the best in the NFL. I think they are the team to beat in the AFC followed by KC and then Buffalo. I think the weak AFC East division paved a nice seed for Buffalo. Two major questions are can either Buffalo or Baltimore get past the mighty Chiefs? The weak division certainly gives them a fighters chance.

Jags? Wow that's a bold prediction.

He's just too risky. -
He's really creative. He's be really good with Josh Allen. Too bad it's not going to happen.
-
I don't think anyone is "there" compared to KC come playoff time. They are just a different animal come playoff time. After them, the pecking order is more debatable. IMHO, Houston is right in the mix or "there" with about 6 other teams which includes Buffalo.
-
May I kindly remind you that making the playoffs isn't the ultimate goal of the team. Especially when you have a healthy #17.
-
Come playoff time his results, game planning, and preparation is average at best. He's been consistently out coached in the playoffs. It's one of my least favorite things about him.
