A good oline would be great for Allen to have. Maybe Beane might try to work on that a tiny bit more in future drafts and pick ups. Saffold has been rather disappointing.

Imho, the offense is out of rhythm and out of sync far too much. The offense doesn't seem free flowing. Too many times I see it as a struggling offense. Not horrible, but nowhere near elite or close to what it needs to be come playoff time. Largely due to Allen's injuries, play calling and scheme, offensive line injuries and weakness, inconsistent WR play, poor red zone execution, inconsistent running, and turnovers. The Bills have a month and a half to figure it out. If not they will be watching Mahomes playing in the Super Bowl again.

Listen to him regularly. He's one of the most knowledgeable Bills person out there. The guy is very fair with his takes and breakdowns. Agree on a tight game here. As for Dorsey and his game plan I remain skeptical. He doesn't seem to go to the type of passing game you are referring to.

I really fail to see how coaches won the game as premised in the thread. I saw a Lions offense that moved the ball up and down the field. A defense that once again struggled on 3rd and long situations. A team that wasn't good defending the red zone and let an easy walk in 2 point conversion. On offense, the Bills were very inconsistent and out of sync for many parts of the game. They had several chances to go up 2 scores and failed to do so against a porous defense. Their inefficiency allowed the Lions to stay in the game. Spencer Brown was getting beat by a practice squad player. Add in another red zone INT. The Bills barely did enough to win the game. I'll take it and move on to NE! They were very fortunate to get the win. Allen and Diggs made the big play. I give the coaches little credit for that. Fraizer made some nice blitzes that forced Geoff into bad throws. Good thing Geoff sucks under pressure because their WRs were wide open. Mahomes or The won't miss those throws. The team was resilient and gutted out a win. I thought the Bills coaches were average at best. I saw nothing that indicated they won the game. In fact, I thought the Lions offensive play calling was very good. Mixed in the run and pass with creative motion. Created several one on one situations to their advantage.

Are the Bills are winning despite their coaching? I will address the question. I'll be more specific about the coaching. Dorsey is clearly learning on the job. Do you give him a pass because it's his first year? Numerous times he has abandoned the run game. He has failed to reign in Josh Allen in regards to his turnovers. Daboll was able to call safe plays to dail back Allen . Dorsey just hasn't put Allen in the best positions to succeed. This is week 12 and I really struggle to find the identity of this team? This offense struggled to beat a Browns and Lions team. Both defenses are terrible and in the bottom of the league. Sure circumstance were extraordinary which includes injuries. Bottom line is the team won. I totally get that. Yes the organization including players and coaches deserves credit. However, that doesn't mean that they aren't subject to criticism. Right? To prove my point, can you comment on Dane Jackson's play? If you haven't noticed he is getting exposed game after game. Dorsey has been mediocre at best. On to Leslie Fraizer. He clearly has a very tough task with all the injuries. The defense is a shell of itself. Truthfully, he hasn't had a healthy defense since game one or two. I believe he sticks to his scheme to a fault. That's knit picking for sure. I give him credit for selling out to stop Chubb and he actually dialed up key 4th quarter blitzes vs Geoff. Two props to him. Geoff wasnt good enough to make the Bills pay. He missed open WRs. Under the circumstances, I think Fraizer has done a really good job. On to coach McD. I'm not one to question the guy's character or heart. He's a Buffalo mold type of guy. I've really really liked him for a longgggg time. However, the 13 second disaster has dramatically changed my mindset. I'm stubborn, old, and hold onto blame far too long. Fast forward to this season and I have mixed feelings. I have failed to see many great in game adjustments and halftime adjustments. Was McD close to losing the team? That Diggs interaction was really a testimony to both Diggs' and Coach McD's character and professionalism. However, it seems as though he has fallen short and been out coached in many games. Once again, winning cures everything. When a team is 8-3 it's a very difficult to criticize coaches. Add in injuries and the extraordinary circumstances and it becomes even more difficult. It's ludicrous to call for anyone's head. McD has built a culture and still knows how to motivate the players. That McD post game Lions speech choked me up. It reminded me of why I like Coach McD so much. In summary, this is a crazy season in which injuries have been the Bills main enemy. It reared its ugly head again with Von. The team, coaches, and players have been tested like no other season. The fans expectations rival that of the Bills team of the 90s. Reflecting and seeing my expectations were too high. I totally thought the Bills had a direct and slightly easy path to the Super Bowl. Assumed the team would be relatively healthy like the last couple of years. As a frustrated fan at times it's easy to blame the coaches. Sometimes it's easy to call for change. Bottom line is the Bills coaches are very very good.

It's great guys seem to be getting healthier. However, I can't help but think who's next to get hurt? That's just the way it's been this year. Beg to differ about the injuries that occurred in the Lions game. How could you not think losing Von for 4 to 6 weeks at best isn't terrible? There still is a chance he may be out longer, how effective will he be If he returns?, etc... I'm sorry that more than sucks in my eyes. The Bills could have picked him 2 rounds later.

No doubt KC is in the driver's seat for the number one seed. At this point, I'm really not focusing on seeds. I'm more focused on game to game basis and getting healthier.

He has learned his lesson with those terrible 4th down calls. However, he still isn't anything special as a coach. Injuries have really killed the team. Their number one receiver had basically missed the whole season. What a surprise there. There number 2 receiver is always hurt, banged up, and has missed several games. Sterioded up Bosa is hurt again and has an elite pass rusher. Herbert had ribs issues for several games. The list goes on. Actually, 5-5 puts them in the mix of things. I think they are a better team then the Jets and NE. The biggest difference is coaching and the Chargers don't know how to finish games. He is one of my favorite listens. The guy is very intelligent and sharp.

The Philip Rivers example is a good one. If he was playing on another team half as talented as those SD Chargers teams he may have hoisted a Lombardi Trophy. That guy was as tough as nails. A fiery competitor. He moved on to Indy well past his prime and led them to a playoff game against the Bills. A game the heavily favored Bills were very fortunate to win. If memory serves me correct, Rivers missed a wide open WR on a critical 4th down play. How ironic.

I like Shaw a lot. He is really solid and dependable. Often not flashy but he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Very good on the run. I've seen years of Epenesa and I'm hoping he's not with the team next year. I don't think he's very good. He misses gaps like crazy and often that's how you know he's on the field. Granted he's made a few plays this year. I'll give you that. The Bills can and should do better than him.

Partly agree but the lack of success doesn't fall all on Herbert. I believe he's the easy scapegoat here. The organization from owner Spanos to a revolving door of poor coaches is mainly to blame. Add in constant injuries and a fan base that's non basically non existent. They never have a true home field advantage. The organization is horrible and only cares about making money. That trickles down to the field and I'm sure it's players too. Poor excuse for sure. Losing breeds losing. The Chargers don't have the winning mindset nor the culture to win. The have very good players who are more often than not hurt. Look at Keenan Allen for an example. I'd dare to say a change in scenery with the right team would elevate Herbert to another level. In short, I believe his progress is being stunted by the organization. I believe he can be elite but I'd never take him over Josh Allen!

The Chargers have been hit with the injury bug perhaps worse than Buffalo. Herbert was out for games and played hurt, Allen was out forever, Williams always banged up, and Bosa out for 8-10 weeks. I find it hypocritical to give the Bills a pass for injuries but not the Chargers. That gives merit to the great job the Bills team and coaches are doing finding ways to win. However, those injuries the Chargers have suffered would be in line with having Diggs, Davis Von Miller, and Allen out. Point being the Chargers list their number 1 and 2 receivers and their best pass rusher for significant amounts of time. It's hard to win with those injuries. Not sure why or where the lack of dog in Herbert comes from. I see a very good QB that most teams would be happy to start their roster with. Perhaps we are just spoiled by having Allen. I'm here in SD and watch all their games. Herbert is as tough as nails. He isn't afraid to stand in the pocket take a hit and fire the ball. Herbert is developing and a very good QB. I think the Chargers have a sub par coach, never play a home, and have a losing culture. Herbert is anything but the problem in SD. I know you didn't say that.

I agree but this year is a different story. Benford and Elam are more of a liability this season vs a strength due to inexperience and learning the professional game. Dane is getting tourched as a starter. Very good situational back who makes big plays. He's limited due to his physical limitations.

Scott with respect I never said the Bills don't beat the Chargers. I think the Chargers would be a dangerous team in the playoffs. They have Herbert, Allen, Williams, Eckler, Mack, and Derwin James. Add in Joey Bosa and they will be a tough out. It remains to be seen how healthy they can get and if they can get over the choke mentality. My main compliant was a poster was trying to say the Lions were a more dangerous team. Imho, it's simply not true.

So you just casually dismiss the game the Chargers played vs the Chiefs who are arguably the best team in the league. Get out of here. I compared Herbert to Geoff not Allen. No way in hell are the Lions more dangerous than the Chargers. You can spin it any way you like. I disagree and I'll leave it at that. Sometimes it's ok to say you exgerrated or was wrong. That's a real problem because all three can and will be exposed by quality teams in the playoffs. Benford and Elam are learning on the job. Both I think will be good to very good corners under McD. However, right now and likely for the playoffs they are not a strength of the team. Jackson is a whole different story. The guy is a fantastic nickel guy and situational back. He makes big plays and knows the system well. However, he is not a starter and he's clearly showing us that. I do believe he can be an asset in the playoffs when used effectively.

That's very fair. However, this season the injuries just keep mounting and seemingly won't stop. Now, add in Von Miller to the mix. Just seems like the football gods have spoken. Allen is hurt and who knows if he will fully recover this season. It seems like the kind of injury that will linger until the season is over. I'd add it's more difficult to win with your back ups. So maybe the coaches deserve some slack. Dorsey seems to be learning on the job and Fraizer has been pretty solid the last 2 games with his adjustments. Stopping Chubb shouldn't go unnoticed and he put more pressure on Geoff towards the end of the game. However, let's take a step back and look at their last 2 wins. The Browns just aren't that good. They find ways to lose. The Lions defense is one of the worst in the league and they played without twi starting Oline man and their best CB. They are the classic example of a young talented team that finds ways to lose. The Bill played most of yesterday's game looking flat, spent, and going through the motions. I was watching and hoping the Bills with Allen could generate a win somehow someway. My prayers were answered. The Bills gutted our a win that they probably should have lost. That does say a lot about the team and the coaches. Good teams find ways to win and vice versa. Yesterday was a classic example if that. With that said, a healthy Bills team is extremely dangerous. I'd argue they would be the team to beat. The unknown answer is how heathly will they be?

Just view me as a voice of reason to all this unrealistic optimism. For example, week after week people here predict Bills blowouts despite all the injuries. Lions game because defense is bad, Browns game because defense is bad, Vikings game because they haven't beaten anyone, Jets game because Wilson stinks, etc...This week how many will be predicting a Bills blowout vs NE? Jones noodle arm can't beat the Bills. Bills 41 NE 10.

True but one glaring omission is the INTs Allen is throwing. Many are totally on him at critical moments in the red zone. Several of those INTs likely cost the bills wins. I believe Allen is leading the league in INTs.

Did you hear what Romo said about Allen's throw? Plus, your comparassion is a bit disingenuous. The Chargers are seen by many as a playoff contender and dangerous if heathly. No one really considers the Lions as such. Add in the Lion injuries too. Lastly, Mahomes is out playing Allen despite losing to the Bills. With that said, Allen's throw to Diggs was tremoundous!
