  1. I believe both Josh Allen and McKenzie have said that the "dumb trick lateral" was a busted play - it was supposed to be a screen to the L after the motion by McKenzie, and he wasn't expecting to get the ball. Now you can fault McKenzie and say, "it's Josh Allen at QB, McKenzie should ALWAYS be expecting to get the ball" or you could fault Josh and say he was trying too hard to make something happen on a busted play, or maybe there were some whiffed blocks on the L that blew up the screen, but the point is: it's not exactly on the coaches for running a dumb trick lateral play if it wasn't supposed to be a dumb trick lateral play.
  2. Yeah, they drafted a WR in the 3rd in 2021 - who has a grand total of 5 receptions on 9 targets so far - and a WR in the 2nd (7 receptions on 11 targets) and 4th (26 receptions on 38 targets) this draft. And it's not like Lazard and Cobb are a super dynamic duo keeping them off the field. Rodgers is 100% missing Adams, who is a Beast, and even Valdes-Scantling. I think we would have to say talent selection and development have not been as successful as their fans might hope, at WR. Didn't Big Ben kind of fall off the cliff at 38? Yeah, he played until he was 39, but it kind of hurt to watch him.
  3. One thing I appreciated as a sign of growth from Josh, and from the Bills team and coaches: I feel that two years ago, and even last year at times, when we got down to a good team or through multiple miscues and mistakes, Josh would start pressing and the team would get a bit frenzied in their play. This time I felt it remained Stone Cold Killer time - focused, on to the next play, trusting in each other, determined to go for the other team's throat on every play.
  4. Just to be clear, I'm not trying to dispute the point that McKenzie had a bad game yesterday. He did, in a visible way. I'm not trying to dump on Motor, either, who I agree had a great game. Cautiously optimistic about the run game, and also his role in the passing game. I'm in response to the claim that the other offensive skill players are "dialed in at all times, ready for anything, and hyper-focused on doing their jobs". The point I (and someone else) are making is that in fact, those "dialed in at all times, ready for anything, hyper focused" rest of the team make mistakes or have miscues sometimes. Fans like to scapegoat players sometimes, and then we get confirmation bias taking a hand.
  5. 4+ wins includes ...... 5 wins? I agree with you about the Chargers, but that's the intriguing thing to me that we see every year - teams who we expect to be better based upon talent and/or coaching fall to the wayside while other teams thrive.
  6. Wasn't there a run play which got stuffed near our own EZ, where Romo said Singletary had taken the wrong gap and if he'd taken the right one and blocked for Josh it could have gone for 25 yds? Like you, not intended as a Motor Bash, I thought Singletary had a strong game. But yeah - pretty much every player makes mistakes, no one is "dialed in at all times".
  7. Not so I can go to work, no, but I've driven midwest-NYS much of my life (visit family). Also driven midwest - Rockies. I do it, I don't like it. So given that I have the long drive experience anyway, sure I'd like to see what the Luxe version of that experience is! Someone else sweating the monotony while I watch a movie or catch some zzzzz's or play with my kiddo and sip a Pellegrino sounds like an upgrade.
  8. I think, a couple years back when the airport security/local police weren't prepared for it, it was a bit out of control. Fans were right up against the cars, videoing in the windows, banging on the cars. One of the players said his car was left dented. Someone could have easily gotten hurt. But it looked like there was more preparation and crowd control this time, with some space between the crowd and the cars, and the cars able to drive safely, so where is the harm? The fans want to do it and enjoy it, the players seem to appreciate it, what's the problem?
  9. You're a lot of fun at a party, I Just Know It. Like a group of fans showing up and cheering when the team arrives at the airport is going to impact how the players prep for and approach the next games? Did you think they were gonna run right home and start watching video last night, and maybe an extra few minutes of drive time home will impact those games?
  10. They snuck by the Browns. Browns gave up 2 4Q TDs after leading the entire game. Gave up a 66 yd pass play to Joe Flacco!
  11. It does. But I'd love to have the opportunity to determine the degree to which a well-equipped van and a driver would reduce the suckage. Clean it up, dudes, their young daughter was with them.
  12. On the way there, they said he left after Fri practice, I dunno when that finishes up but, given that the rest of the team is flying out Sat afternoon I wonder if they stopped overnight somewhere? If practice and post-practice treatments wrap up at (say) 3 pm, they could get in 7 hrs, knock off around 10 pm, hit the road around 7 am and still probably make it to KC about the same time as the rest of the team.
  13. AFC 3 teams with 4+ wins: Bills Chiefs Jets 7 teams with 3 wins: Patriots Dolphins Ravens Bengals Titans Colts Chargers The Bills and Chiefs are emerging as the conference frontrunners. But after that.....who are emerging as the teams to beat? With the same W-L record as the Chiefs, are the Jets emerging as Studs? They've already won as many games this year, as they did all last season. In addition to the Bills and Patriots 2x and the Dolphins again, they play the Broncos, Bears, Vikes, Lions, Jags and Seahawks. The Broncos, Bears, and Jags all have 2 game losing records. The Lions are 1-4. Outside the AFC East/Bills, the Vikes and Seahawks are the only teams on their schedule who don't have losing records. Have Salah and LeFleur finally turned it around in their second year? Are the Jets legit? They've beaten the Browns, Steelers, Dolphins, and Packers. DVOA devotees, what do advanced stats tell you? In terms of conventional defensive stats, the Jets are "meh" in the PA category (18th) but shine with 10 TO. #8 scoring offense in the league. When I think of Wilson, the word that still comes to mind is "meh". How are the Jets doing it, is it points off turnovers? Who else do you expect to see climb? Denver has a good D, so if Wilson and the offense get their act together, they could be in it. I would expect to see the Titans, Chargers, and Bengals climb back in. The Ravens puzzle me. They may get their defensive act together, but right now it looks to me as though Wink Martindale knew something. Same for the Colts - I think losing Eberflus set them back. Dolphin aficionados will be looking for the Return of Tua to bring them back into it. They play the Steelers, Lions, Bears, Browns, and Texans next, so plenty of scope there. Thoughts?
  14. TBN reporter Katherine Fitzgerald tweeted that it was equipped to lie down (maybe a convertible bed?). I don't want to minimize Poyer's dedication, which is formidable. But he had a professionally-driven van likely equipped with WiFi, TVs, snacks and drinks, space for toys and games, space to nap, and his wife and daughter with him. As long as he was willing to "play with the Barbies" on request, it was likely All Good.
  15. Shakir is on the 53 man roster and need not be elevated. I think you mean "have him active", which he was last week and this week and likely will be going forward. Shakir played 15 snaps yesterday, on which he had 2 targets and 1 reception. The other, he got his hands on the ball and couldn't bring it in.
  16. Hi! We're in a thread titled "Patriots may have a QB". We're discussing the Patriots QB sitch here, not the Bills win. "Have a QB" usually means "have their Guy" "found the Franchise" As for the rest, sorry, I can't respond, I need to rush out and shop for a new Irony meter 'cuz mine just exploded
  17. I know DVOA is well-regarded by many But it's worth pointing out that in PA, the Chiefs Defense was 8th, 10th and 7th the last 3 years Bills defense 1st, 16th, and 2nd the last 3 years. It always interests me how teams that are regarded as positioned for success (Chargers, Bengals, Rams, Tampa) sometimes squib when the games are played.
  18. Mac Jones had a string of games from ~week 7 to 12 last season where, as Coach McDermott put it "show me someone else who is playing better" - he looked good. Yeah Zappe had a good game, but maybe pump the brakes on him as the Franchise Man.
  19. Murray had 29 yds rushing against KC, almost all on one long 21 yd run. I thought of that and checked when I was digging into the KC run game last week. I dunno about the 4Q, but normally teams who are seriously behind step away from the rush game and take to the air.
  20. Eh, they gave up >100 yds to the Cardinals and As I pointed out elsewhere, the Chiefs D had an outlier game against Tampa Bay, which rushed 6 times for 3 yards or something like that. If you even plug in a totally "meh" ground game of 30 yds or something for that game, that puts the KC D down in the bottom of run defenses for YPG. They did well against the Chargers and the Colts. I haven't looked closely enough to see if they've had some injuries in the LB corps that would have accounted for that.
