  1. Special teams have let the bills down in the playoffs quite a bit during the Beane era. I do not have any idea how the Bills investment in players whose primary role is special teams is greater or less than other teams. The real question from my perspective is whether or not the Bills get a good return on this investment.
  2. My wife is an accomplished athlete and my daughter inherited that talent. Both competed in their respective sports at the Division 1 level in College. So there where lots of records/championships and success stories along the way that I got to witness my daughter participate in. Me and my sons, were never at that level, but enjoyed sports, and watching their events was as fufilling as wathing my daughters. My favorite Bills related story, does involve my daughter. As an eight year old, she advanced through the punt, pass and kick competition, to the level where she got to compete for the national level prior to, and during half time of the Bills - Dolphins game during the Flutie / Johnson controversy season. The gap from 8 year old girls to the 15 year old boys competing was comical on its own. Going by memory, i think the winning 15 year old boy threw the ball over 50 yards. But the competition was fun. But that was not the most memorable part of the story. Through half time, all of the kids competing sat together, and then after half time rejoined their parents. During the competition all of the kids were given a Bills Jersey to wear. They were all the same Jersey, Johnson #7. My daughter is a big Bills fan today, but as an eight year old was not particularly engaged in following the ins and outs of the team. I am pretty certain before the game that she would not have been able to say who the Bills QB even was. But apparently the kids sitting together as a group had a pretty good bead on the situation. Her first words when she rejoined us after half time were "I don't know why they gave us these Jerseys, Johnson stinks" . I still chuckle today when I recall the event.
  3. How do you determine who is better than whom among the four divisional round losers (5 to 8 ). The dreaded eye test, or is there some objective criteria?
  4. Bill will likely win a weak division. Based on history they won’t advance past the divisional round. This leaves them in the final eight.
  5. Much lower floor. Much lower ceiling.
  6. Did the NFL find it necessary to distance themselves from this player?
  7. Bills have 20 yards less scroing range than the Chiefs because of the difference in kicker talent. Yet the Bills don't address this gap.
  8. The chiefs recognize the value of a kicker. It’s not just percentage. The kicker determines how much of the field is scoring range.
  9. I did 10x McDermott salary.
  10. Based on actual value to the Bills, I would say Allen is worth about $85 million per year.
  11. One is a guy who is rich and can cook. one is a guy who is rich and won’t let you eat bread. it’s not clear to me which one women really want.
  12. If the Bills organization does not trust him with the head coaching decison, he can’t be considered a top GM, only a top player personnel manager. The top GMs are given control over the organization.
  13. The poll choices are overly limited. A - (He’s consistently put us in a position to win with Super Bowl-capable rosters while skillfully finessing the cap). I would propose a fix A - He’s consistently put us in a position to win with Super Bowl-capable rosters and coaching staffs B+ He’s consistently put us in a position to win with Super Bowl-capable rosters, but there is not evidence the coaching staffs are capable of a deep playoff run I can't give an A in the current poll, because it ignores one of the critical elements of team building, coaching.
  14. This thread is facinating.
  15. The title clearly says “collection of talent” not “team”.
  16. I am excited we have DC who has mentor to guide him.
  17. is Beane somehow obligated to pursue strategies followed by a different organization more than seven years ago? Or can he be expected by fans to adapt and improve?
  18. I think the concern is that the Bills have shown no propensity to develop WRs despite having an all-world qb. It is not really about Gabe Davis. Personally I do not care about how the offense gets it done. They have been a top five offense for years now. Whatever blocks the bills from going further in the playoffs it’s not been the offense.
  19. I took the original post to imply everyone else sucked
  20. Confused, does this make you blind or unable to talk?
  21. Not wild about Babich's "mentor upstairs comment". Never really heard a coordinator say something like that before. Seems weak.
  22. Yes. keyword = lost. In the context of the Patriots winnig six super bowls without him.
  23. Coulda shoulda woulda. One of the few patriots who never won a Super Bowl with Brady. Literally a non-factor for ever winning a championship.
  24. Nice post. "Dorsey's demise was not utilizing Allen as a runner in the first 10 games of 2023". Should be bolded for emphasis. Not clear based on preseason comments last year that this was Dorsey's decision. The real question is how to not end the playoffs 1-1, or 0-1. I wish I had the answer. But it does not seem to be an issue with offensive talent. Or even offensive execution. To my eyes, the Bills have been out gameplanned in the playoff games. And the defense has faltered to many times in key moments.
  25. The point of thread has nothing to do with a claim we need to add a hall of fame tight end. The point is the WR room is fine as is. And people's dreaming of adding some elusive WR that is the difference between winning the super bowl and not is silly. And also statistically not likely.
