Dan Campbell does some great or ***** it up and no one says, “he doesn’t call the plays” or “he doesn’t coach special teams.” They say, “that’s on Campbell.” McD doesn’t get to get away from any of the sloppiness of game management or the defensive suck or the constant wrong # of people on the field. It wouldn’t take 35 seconds off the clock. Rams would probably be flagged for unsportsmanlike. Either way, you HAVE to preserve the timeout. Otherwise it all comes down to the onside, which it did, and we lost of course and never touched the ball again. im not saying it was high probability we win even if they call it exactly right. But to call it wrong is strikingly egregious.

There’s an argument imo to accepting the penalty. All it takes is a tipped pass or some other dumb luck and they are punting. They were gonna go 4th and medium regardless imo.
