  1. The Bears are a team that needs the D to play lights out and get turnovers. Last year the D was number 1 and they scored 6 TDs. That didn’t happen last night. They will not be successful if they are relying on Trubisky to win games for them throwing the ball 45 times.
  2. Well, if he passes/runs for 30-35 TD’s that’s an average of 2 per game. Adding another 16 for others (Gore, Singletary, ST and D) that’s an average of 3 per game. If that happens the Bills will be in the playoffs.
  3. That’s why completion percentage in and of itself is a joke statistic. You could probably have a 75% completion rate if all your passes travel no more than 3 yards.
  4. Good point. If a guy can make contested catches in the red zone, he can make them all over the field. I also go back to Beane’s comment in the beginning of August when he pointed out that “separation” was a bit overrated in bad weather games when being physical is more important.
  5. Unless I am missing something Williams is the only WR on the PS. He will definitely get a chance on the 53. I believe, based upon Beane’s prior statements about needing big receivers in bad weather, that he will get his chance.
  6. I said this in another thread that they wanted both but only wanted 6 WR, and the only way to do that was to hope Williams cleared waivers. It worked out for them. As soon as an injury occurs to a WR (which inevitably will occur) he’ll be on the 53. See Robert Foster last year.
  7. Exactly my feelings. Any team in this league that’s on their 3rd team QB is toast anyway. Best just to get an Anderson type just to finish out the season.
  8. I believe that’s correct.
  9. Correct, if you IR him before the 53 cutdown he’s done for season.
  10. Agreed. I think that’s why the cuts are staggered the way they are.
  11. I do think they plan to use McKenzie as a gadget type player on offense. I do agree Williams gives them something no other WR does but it all comes down to somewhat of a guessing game. If they think he will clear waivers, it works out.
  12. I mentioned this earlier, but it really came down to keeping 6 WR on the 53. They liked both McKenzie and Williams and the only way to have both available was to have Williams clear waivers and put him on PS.
  13. I forgot about that. As a “vested” vet you are guaranteed full year salary if on roster week one. This is a smart move.
  14. The read I get is they wanted both McKenzie and Williams and McKenzie isn’t PS eligible so they are taking chance on Williams making it past waivers. We’ll see if that works.
  15. Guaranteed that if he makes the PS he will be called up within first 3 weeks due to injury or performance reasons. I can’t remember a time when we haven’t had a WR injured in first 3 weeks of the season.
  16. Agreed. He’ll either on PS, and likely called up within first 3 weeks due to injury or ineffectiveness, or on another teams 53.
  17. Yes, I forgot about Perry because he was injured.
  18. If Shady and Murphy are gone, this only leaves Gore, Singletary and Yeldon as running backs. Would they go with just 3? Or will they look on waiver wire for a pick up?
  19. Wow. Talk about bringing back memories. In 1975 our HS team played at the Aud before the Braves due to our gym not being ready. I remember making a shot beyond the top of the key and feeling like I was throwing it into the ocean because there was no background. Really weird feeling. It was cool coming off the floor and Ernie D standing there waiting to go on after us.
  20. Best guess is that McKenzie not being PS eligible, they decided to take a chance because they wanted to keep both and the only way to do it was to hope Williams clears waivers. Either way the young man will be on a squad this year.
  21. Would be shocked if Duke Williams clears waivers. Several teams looking for big body receiver who can make contested grabs.
  22. Interesting take from Beane back on 8/1. Says important to have big body receivers and “separation” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, particularly in cold weather. https://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/298850/bills-wrs-might-be-smurfs-but-theres-a-place-for-them-in-nfl
