C Mitch Morse (Chiefs) to the Bills
The Senator replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Leach, the great ‘QB Whisperer’ has always maintained, it all starts with the O-line. If we’re somehow able to reel in D. Williams at RT, the O-line is almost complete. Just need a LT. Great day for the BILLSSS!!!!! 19 and 0 baby!!!!! ? -

Report - Bills interested in Frank Gore, RB
The Senator replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no idea what is their level of interest, if any, in signing the oldest RB in the league. If anything, I’m hoping it’s because they already have Daryl Williams and Matt Paradis locked down. Where do these crazy rumors start? . -
How do you know “Beane made a few calls?” A more likely scenario is that Beane never had any interest in Brown at all when his pal Kevin Colbert called and said, Hey Brandon, you guys need a WR - how bout Antonio Brown? Beane, when he stops laughing, replies, OK Kevin, what would the Steelers want for him? When Rosenhaus gets involved, Beane decides the joke has gone on long enough. If Beane had been remotely interested in a scumbag like Brown, AB would be in Buffalo tomorrow eating chicken wings. .

Hiring Mike Leach Disciples vs Actual Mike Leach - Why?

Hope so. We get to see for ourselves how he plays after a year off. .

Those should be great games. BTW, we play the Ravens at home this season. .

Maybe, but not as much as this deal, as evidenced by how much less the Raiders offered than the Bills simply because they gave in to Brown ‘s money demands. Pittsburgh was just that desperate to unload Brown, and the Bills were not willing to swaps 1sts, plus another pick, plus pay Brown $20M/yr. Oh I think the Bills were certain he’d be a royal pain in the ass at his current salary. But, as Beane said, we talked, it didn’t make sense for either team, we’ve moved on. So have I. .
-
Actually, your “simple logic” is seriously flawed. He posted “fake news” about a trade to Buffalo because it was just that - fake news. There never was a deal. If there was, if Buffalo had met his money demands, he would be having wings at The Anchor Bar right now. Afterwards, he posted that he “thinks” he’ll be traded to the Raiders. The Raiders acquiesced to his contract demands. Had those talks fallen apart and some idiot reported a ‘done deal’, he also would have posted “fake news”. The logic is really as simple as that. Really. .

You know, those losers taking easy cheap shots are just that - LOSERS - trying to fill column space and airtime with what they think are witty remarks. They don’t have a clue what really went down. No one does. GMs talk to each other all the time. It could have been as simple as Beane answering his phone... ”Hey Brandon, Kevin Colbert here - I understand you guys are looking for a wide receiver. Any interest in Antonio Brown?” Beane, slightly amused, and knowing Pittsburgh is desperate to unload Brown, replies, “Well, Kevin, just for sh*ts and giggles, what would the Steelers require in return?” And just like that, this whole sh*tstorm unfolds. As Buffalonians, we hear sh*t from unknowing fools all the time. We’re pretty thick-skinned. Don’t let it bother you. .

Hate to disagree, but I do. GMs call each other all the time to discuss possible trades, is this guy or that guy available, what would you want for him, etc. It’s what they do, It’s what they SHOULD do. And that’s exactly what happened. Someone made a call. It might have been Colbert calling Beane saying, Hey Brandon, you guys need a wide receiver, would you have any interest in Antonio Brown? Beane replies, Well, Kevin, what you require in return? - which leads to two days of back and forth discussion. When the Bills and Steelers thought they had an agreeably trade, Drew Rosenhaus entered the scene. When Rosenhaus told Beane exactly what Brown wanted, the Bills lowered their offer to Pittsburgh. In the end, as Beane stated, a deal didn’t make sense for EITHER team. I would have been stupid if Beane had come out publicly and said, “Hey, we’re pursuing Antonio Brown”, but he didn’t. It was a simple inquiry, that led to further discussion, then died when it became obvious that a deal was unrealistic. After talks had already ended, I’m Not Rappaport just had to break the story that wasn’t. No one expected that. This regime is probably the best we’ve had since John Butler. .
