10/26/25 GAMEDAY Bills at Panthers 1st Half game thread
Simon replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Subbing Hancock in on 3rd downs just saved a TD. Poyer looks awful; I'll be surprised if he finishes this game. -

The initial play was blown up, possibly on a Kincaid mistake. It then became a scramble drill and he went through 4-5 players before he had to dump it off. -

I swear I thought I saw him out there with the D briefly, but I'm not confident enough to say for sure. 🤷♂️ -

Yes, he's had some ST snaps recently and I "may" have seen him on with the D for a few snaps as well. -

Yeah, it's not going to be all rainbows and unicorns for these first few starts. We don't know yet if he can actually cover anybody, but that unreal athleticism should help in recovering from the inevitable mistakes. His feet and hips are absolutely world class. -

I'm impressed that they can still strap 'em on and go at that age. Maybe all that juicing they were doing was just prunes! -

Mike Lombardi's football cred called into question

I heard he even changed his last name to give himself more credibility. His birth name was Mike McDermott... -

Game week thread - Bills at Panthers (Game week preview on pg. 18)

I don't think Poyer and Hamlin are his competition any more. I would not be at all surprised if McDermott cannot keep Jordan Hancock off the field any longer. -

Or maybe they're injured, not just hurt -
Not a Buckeye fan but see quite a bit of them some years. He is an excellent tackler. Not a huge guy that overpowers people but more a technically proficient guy that knows how to put people on the ground and is very willing to do so. OSU ran a ton of press man and took pride in it up until Matt Patricia came on board this year and he's since incorporated a lot more zone. There's a caveat though in that Hancock wasn't just a corner for them; in addition to working at corner on both the boundary and slot, he also spent a ton of time playing safety for them, especially in his last year. He might have even spent half his snaps at FS in his senior year and the OSU defense definitely benefited from it. He's a really smart player that can do a lot of things because he understands the defense as a whole and can play multiple roles in it. I think safety is his best fit and he can eventually thrive in that role; I'd much rather see him out there learning OTJ than watch Poyer out there trying to keep up with skill players 10 years younger than him.
