New stadium cost goes up from $1.4 billion to $1.54 billion.
JoPoy88 replied to cba fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Every single time they build one of these things, no matter when or where, the actual costs are higher than the original estimates. SoFi cost billions more than originally projected. I’m not saying NYS isn’t corrupt, but this isn’t a particularly good example of it. And why is inflation in quotes? Do you believe it actually doesn’t exist? -
Well if you fully realize the situation (and clearly you do-the tix are going to expensive) and then proceed to hand them your money anyways your complaints have no merit and you deserve to get fleeced.

wow thanks for the breaking news.

Two Bills Drive being correct on the Draft: Who did we get right?
JoPoy88 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seems like the perfect thread for the self proclaimed football geniuses that liked Breece Hall to show up and raise their hands. -
Buffalo was never getting a Super Bowl, dome or no dome. An “expo”? A business conference at a football stadium? incredibly stupid is right.
-
100% agree. On Populous’ site page for the stadium, they speak of this “Family circle” open area (the area with the large bison sculpture.) I’m assuming they have plans to utilize that space.
-
The transpo hub was part of the agreement between the team and county. That deal’s done. Any on-site eatery/bar/restaurant would (most likely) be a partnership between the team and private vendors. Those deals are not done. So apples and oranges there.
-
I am not talking about secondary development in the vicinity around the stadium. I’m talking about on-site amenities like the ones he’s complaining about. Things that don’t have to be open year round to survive. Family zone-type areas? A staffed bar or restaurant? I see no reason why they could not incorporate these things into the place. And I have not read that these things have been ruled out. No, I don’t think the new stadium is going to catalyze all sorts of new commercial development around it in Orchard Park. Nor do I care in the slightest. I go to watch the game. I tailgate, I bring my food.
-
Again you’re hammering away at this bar/restaurants and family zone gripe. We’re over 3 years away from the thing opening. They haven’t stuck one shovel in the ground yet. And yet you keep insisting and assuming this place won’t have these things. Nothing like that has been announced yet. Can you not wait and see? Yes I’ve been to other NFL/MLB/NHL/NBA venues all over the place.
-
Where was it claimed this stadium was the “cheapest possible” option? What state of the art amenities are you referring to that have been confirmed omitted from this project? How does this building show the Bills don’t belong in the League?
-
lol. Okay man. Those are, uh, ideas. ”Yeah just take the existing 50 year old decrepit stadium and dome it and technology it.”
-
I get you as far as maintenance goes but if Green Bay can do it we can do it. It’s better for the players. if a game gets cancelled, postponed or moves due to a blizzard again it won’t be because of the natural turf. It’ll be because no one can get to the game. Sorta like what just happened. Your argument is weak.
-
Aiming for June 1. They just announced that all the contracts were signed today.
-
okayyyy….yeah because baseball games getting postponed in the north in April due to weather is so out of the ordinary and rare…. And we’re now complaining about natural turf for the football stadium? I thought natural turf has shown to be safer and much preferred by players? And now it’s also a bad thing? So much going on here. Backup tarp? Is the “primary” tarp broken? Ripped?

uncomfortable? Not really. Maybe he used a more unseemly example for effect but doesn’t bother me - the point was charities are not always on the level and can be abused. In any case, I’m not involved in that back and forth - I responded to somebody else asking specifically about Damar’s foundation.
-
I mean, he is right about a lot of charities being shady. That’s why orgs like CharityWatch exist. There’s been nothing untoward about Hamlin’s charity yet. I doubt they’ve even used any of the money at this point. Up until his injury it was a simple gofundme with a goal of $2,500 to be used to buy some kids presents at Christmas. Now they have $9mil to manage and from reports (from CharityWatch, see my link above) he and his people are going through the proper steps to manage those kinds of donations.

while the entity has been a registered not-for-profit in PA for a few years, it has only recently (Jan 2023) formally organized the fund and secured a charitable sponsor to help organize everything, including registering with the IRS. So I doubt much of the money has been distributed to anyone yet. But go ahead and insinuate all you want. https://www.charitywatch.org/charity-donating-articles/damar-hamlins-chasing-ms-foundation-what-to-know

very cool Everton’s my team. They suck now but at least the new place looks cool.

So you realize it’s clickbait, call it such, and then decide to link and signal boost it here anyways. Gee, I wonder why Florio keeps doing it…

Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
JoPoy88 replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
On Watson’s K? I don’t think the cap hit is that high. I mean, you’re the one signal boosting a stupid take by Marlon Waynes. I guess you’re doing it just to “vilify” it right? -
not gonna lie, I don’t love it.

Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
JoPoy88 replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
the question isn’t will someone pay him what he seeks. That answer’s apparent: No (at least for now.) The real question is whether he’s justified in asking what he is asking for. I think given the Watson contract he’s well within his rights to pursue something like that. I’m not saying he handled this well-it’s pretty apparent he hasn’t. And he has lost out on $ just on return over time. But I do give him credit for pointing at the owners, as a collective, and saying “hey, if you’re going to allow one of your own to pay a sex pest (with no MVPs) an unprecedented contract without so much as a peep publicly,” yeah, fight for all the dollars you can get. Like you hear all these pearl clutching owners now from Baltimore and Atlanta now when speaking about Lamar - were these guys asleep at the wheels of their yachts when Haslem did that deal with Watson? Could they not have convened one of their little covens with Goddell and told them “nah, that aint gonna fly, especially with this pervert”? Of course they could have. But they didn’t. Because if there’s one rule these owners follow it’s “we don’t eat our own.” Snyder is exhibit A of this - he should’ve been out 10 years ago. But Lamar is the one with the problems. Got it. -
NFL approves rule change to let players wear number 0
JoPoy88 replied to Taro Nimbus's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m sorry why is this a bad thing? I’ve seen so many replies in this thread already saying basically “Boo!!” But no reason why. Don’t most people clown the NFL for being too strict over stupid ****? The “No Fun League” and all that? And yet, here we are. Seriously some of you miserable people need to skip football a couple Sundays and hit therapy. -
Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
JoPoy88 replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, all the positive twitter posts regarding this trade were nothing more than rumors in the first place. So yeah, you can believe Graham’s rumor too.
