KC-BUF: 5 Things
Giuseppe Tognarelli replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You guys can excoriate me all you want, but McDermott is literally echoing me in his press conference right now. Pick your poison. Allowing rush yards was the plan -- not to say they wanted to allow that many -- but this is the kind of game they wanted, by design. -

Could be because Ed Oliver is a bust. Get mad at me all you want, but I'm pretty sure it's true. -

Guys, yes, I'm sure McDermott didn't want them to rush as well as they did, but kind of letting them rush to an extent was the game plan. Kansas City had pretty much no big plays in the passing game. If we had come with a different strategy, we would have seen the high-flying, high-scoring Chiefs. This is the type of game that McDermott wanted to play. Granted, I wish we could have kept the rushing average down, but still. -

When the Chiefs thought that was a fumble and they were about to go down 24-23, you know we put a scare into them. Respectable performance. -
1. Kansas City is just better than us right now. That's okay. 2. You can't blame the defense for this one overall -- except for the White/Poyer penalties and the 3rd & 12. 3. The story of this game is Josh Allen. He did not look good overall. Questions about his accuracy are real. Can he get better? If not, what does that mean? Let's not let the one fourth quarter drive distract from the game at large. Watching him, even though he's in his third year, you still just get the feeling that he's still learning and improving. When will he peak? 4. Nonetheless, we got good, motivated Kansas City, including one of those occasional very good defensive game plans from Steve S. Despite this, we were an inch away from a fumble that would have set us up to take a 24-23 lead over the champs in the waning moments of the fourth quarter. It's truly a game of inches. 5. When we calm down from this game, I think we should be pretty okay with it, questions about Allen notwithstanding. And, you have to say it again... We couldn't get off the field on 3rd & 12. I'm not sure why McDermott's defense struggles so much in these situations. It *was* Mahomes, but still. That could have been a playoff game. We are still a playoff team. We will still crush the Jets next week. We'll go from there.

Murphy and HH were by design, not injury, so you can't count them. -

Milano from full practice to out. Just unbelievable. Truly devastating. Yeah, I don't get it at all. He is a weapon. -

I love these benchings. Sends a message. Maybe Frazier does have some fire after all. -

Dan Orlovsky, who, curiously, is actually pretty smart. -

I hope they get Lawrence. NYJ will figure out a way to bust him. 🔥🔥 -
I think you missed the point. You wrote "pist of," seemingly meaning "pissed off."

Peter King said Josh Allen was "weirdly emotional" in the Titans loss, leading to his less-than-perfect play that reminded us of last year. Allen hates losing. It's like it's the end of the season if we're facing a loss. He loses control. I'm pretty sure this is just what happens when we're in hard games. He needs to get it under control. Look at Rodgers today -- he knew when the game was over today, and he accepted it and moved on. You didn't see him get all red-cheeked and crazy.

Watch Gase get fired after this game and the Bills have to play the Jets in the Interim Coach Rally game. -
Kroft has two game-winning touchdowns for us in big spots: on the road at Pittsburgh last year and this year against the Rams. His hands seem very reliable, and despite the PI, he really showed fight and tough catch ability on that "interception" against the Rams. He also wants to be a more impact player and has the hunger to contribute.
