The Bills lost to the chiefs who lost to the bengals who lost to the rams.  It's so silly that people think the Bills were guaranteed the super bowl there.

Thank you! Reid is one of the greatest coaches of all time and mahomes is one of the greatest qbs of all time but only when other teams lose to them.

Quite the opposite.  I actually don't think Harbaugh should be fired.  I also don't think McD should be fired.

The entire point of this post is the double standard the fire mcd crowd have for other coaches.

People want to pretend winning 1 sb no matter how long ago would be okay but I don't think that's true.  Harbaugh has a long streak of not being nearly as succesful as McD.

How do you view Harbaugh as being not as successful as McD?  He has literally made it further than McD ever has, just this year, without having Josh Allen.  He has to cater an entire team around Jackson’s limitations.  I don’t agree with Baltimore’s talent evaluation, but he has failed in the playoffs the same as McD, but he’s also proven he CAN win the big one, which McD never has.

How long of a leash?  Its been 11 years....

Since that 2012 season they have won 3 division titles, they missed the playoffs 4 of 5 seasons after winning that sb, and they have only made the division round 4 times with 1 afc championship game.  McD has outperformed or tied all of that in the last 4 years

If you are questioning the coach who has made it further than McD has in his tenure with a far superior QB, then McD needs to be fired because his leash is run out.  You just beat yourself with your own argument.

Is this the weakest list of MVP finalists ever?

Imagine, in a high scoring era like this, where a guy with 29 Total TDs is the front runner.  Yes, this is WEAK.  They should just call it “most popular QB of the year” award.

Let's not forget Andy Reid's playoff history before Mahomes.

How many NFC playoff games did he lose with those Eagles teams? Then a few more with the Chiefs. It took him a long, long time to get where he is now.

McDermott doesn't have the wins now, but Reid made the playoffs a dozen times before getting over the hump (yes, he did make a SB appearance with the Eagles once too).

It took Reid having a great QB to get there, what’s the plan, replace Allen with somebody better?

I know Sean isn't going anywhere and these discussions may be pointless.  The reason to have these conversations is that we at least need to pinpoint at what point we DO move on from him.  Josh not winning a championship is not acceptable.   It will be just as regrettable as losing 4 superbowls maybe more.

The best coaches, to me, adapt their systems to personnel.   Belichick teams always did.  He's won multiple titles more on the back of his D than Brady.  Our coach seems incapable of this.  I don't want change for the sake of change.  I want change to be smarter and more adaptable.

So if we bomb out next season do we make a move?  2 years?  4?  At what point does Josh get frustrated (though he seems incapable)?

Josh is not incapable of being frustrated, he is just good at toeing the line in the public eye.  I guarantee you he isn’t blind to the fact this is team is nothing without him and the Defense collapses at every big moment, just like their leader.

You can’t think like that. Because you have no idea what the Bills need to do to win a Super Bowl. People act like the answer is firing the coach. News flash, that doesn’t work. Once you start firing the coach you might as well start scouting QBs because next Allen is gone.

Yeah, that’s the way it works, teams dump top 3 QBs in their prime because they fire a loser coach.  Sure.

Listen, 95% of the league wants to be the Bills and emulate the Bills. Beane has had 3 people from his staff become GMs and a 4th interviewing.

People need to start enjoying this ride.

And teams used to want to be the Panthers.. which is how we got here.  Neither team wins a SB, so it’s time to exit the ride.

I'm not sure how this ties to our WR situation as there werent any WRs we passed on with those picks.

The missed pick was Basham over Creed Humphrey.

Unless you are saying we could have already moved on from Morse and used that money to sign better WRs. But we didnt have any problem throwing money at WR this year with the Harty and Sherfield signings.

So I'm confused on the details here.

Because they whiffed TWICE on DE in one draft, they went and spent big on Von, where that 20M could have been used on WRs.

I believe Rousseau is capable of that. We'll see if it pans out.

Folks also have to remember, this is the talent we get picking so late in the 1st. We have to be lucky to strike gold, otherwise the player would already have been picked in the top 10.

Rousseau is a good all-around player drafted 30th overall.

Enough with the excuses, the Chiefs have picked behind us every year and gotten far better.

    They don't. That's my hope.

They need to use some of those 10 picks they have gathered up to move WAYYY up the board for a WR...or use that 1st to trade for an impact player.

I’d like to see them land some impact guys, no matter where, haven’t gotten on since Allen.  Kincaid looks like he will be, but I can’t give a guy that they only throw the ball to within 5 yards an impact guy yet (yes that’s a slight hyperbole, but you know what I mean).

Our receivers weren't the reason we lost to KC it was our defense.

Well, the team that scores the most points tends to win, the O had a chance to win it and  Diggs got hit in the hands and couldn’t catch it.. sooooo

    How was McD outcoached?

The Bills came into this game with far more injuries to significant players.   And yet the result was a toss-up.  This game could have gone either way despite the legendary coaching combo (Reid/Spagnuolo) on the other sideline.  Given the comparative health, the Chiefs should have won by double digits.  McD wasn't flawless but he wasn't outcoached.

The SCORE made it look like a toss-up, the second half, KC dominated.  They never had to punt and the only reason the Bills even had a shot was pure luck after they set themselves up to be put away.  A fake punt with 10 minutes left in the game on your own 29?  With no actual scheme behind it no less?  Fail.  The bailout comes only because of a fumble that barely happened and snuck out the side of the end zone.  From there they were shooting for the end zone with 2 minutes left on the clock when the prudent play was to take short gains and run the clock out so even if you do settle for a FG, you don’t set Mahomes and the offense you had t stopped all day for an opportunity to win.  McD was clearly out classed, when it mattered, again.

    He failed.

    Hard to argue with that.

I have been a major critic of Beane, I feel he did a good job filling the roster with the talent to get the job done this year.  Unfortunately, he doesn’t have say over the coaching decisions and we see the end product continues to be less than expectations time and time again.

In all this it's clear that Beane and McD's success plan isn't working and needs tweaks.  Since they got here they've been preaching this rotational D-line and they tired out in the fourth quarter last night.  Again.  I fail to see any advantage it's gained us over other teams' D-lines.  Disadvantages are cost and perhaps a dilution of responsibility and urgency to step up and make plays.  We need playmakers on the field feeling the urgency to make a play.

It's incomprehensible how AJK gets the start over Dorian Williams talent-wise.  I knew it was trouble from the first moment.  And our defense struggled to get properly set by the snap of the ball anyways.  That's on McD for not getting his talent on the field and developing it.   My wording is purposeful to one change I feel coach needs to make.

Our FO has done well enough to get to the playoffs but they need to grow and change to truly win the superbowl.  We are wasting Josh Allen otherwise.

I could not agree more.  However, nothing is going to change and JA17 will go down as the most prolific QB to never win a championship.

  13. I have been as hard as anyone on Beane as a GM, I’ll say this.  I still think there is entirely too much money invested in the DL and the Miller move was asking for problems (specifically after they’re-structure), BUT BUT, he did field a much better team this year and even when injuries came up and destroyed the D, he made one home run move in getting Douglas as well as admirably plugging holes at DT etc to give the team a shot.

The lack of WR talent hurt down the stretch, but, again BUT, Diggs fell off a cliff in terms of impactful production, so the team was left without a true #1 out there, Davis never found it this year so your below average #2 underperformed even to his standards, yet Shakir emerged as something pretty good, Harty had moments, Sherfield… well after yesterday.. that looks bad, but he was a decent pick up and adding Kincaid to the mix, there should have been enough to win, especially with a viable run game.  The OL, the run game, adding Kincaid all were massive improvements.

I have to give credit where credit is due, I think Beane did a good job putting this roster together and mitigating disaster this season.   Injuries happen, but to go into a playoff game against Kelce without two starting LBs, and your third being banged up at best, that’s tough.  I blame McClappy getting Williams in there more, the kid has the tools and made some impact plays when he was in.  Klein really doesn’t belong on the field as a cover guy, he did as well as one could hope, but I can’t fathom the logic of him over Williams other than “he knows the system and Williams is a rookie” which is really inexcusable.

  14. We all know they are going to run it back and try to sell the idea that guys will be back from injury and the young guys are getting better.

Next year around this time, we’ll all be here for the same discussion and it’ll be the same plan and then finally in 2027, the plan will change because there is no other choice but a cap re-set year and the team will lose 8 games because Allen will still carry them beyond where they deserve to be.  In the end, Allen will go down as Dan Marino’s successor as the guy that had to do it all for a team that could never hold up their end of the bargain and retire without a title, but tons of records.

  15. End of the day, it’s time for Josh to put this team on his back and cover up whatever the D can’t.  Mahomes got the SB win with a garbage D, it’s time for Allen to do it.   We all know he can and in all honesty, probably should already have one SB appearance had Leslie Frazier been fired when he should have been.  So now is the time for JA17 to make it happen.

You may be right…the tools are there but Herbert still has a lot of upside

I see the same guy I saw at Oregon, talented, but no “it” factor.  Maybe it’s the terrible coaching, but maybe it’s just the same guy.
