Peter King Football Morning in America - Bills notes
DCofNC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lets be real here.. who has something to prove, last year's SB team or the 6-10 team? It will be an indication of how much the Bills have closed the gap, but by no means are the Patriots worried about that game. I would go so far as to say that game doesn't mean much for either team, both want to win, but its game 4 of a long season. It will be a bit of a measuring stick for the Bills, hopefully they compete or win. -

I actually think Arizona is a better team then either the Jets or Giants, but the Ravens got them at home, so thats a little break in the right direction for them. The Ravens are NO Where near as good as people have them rated. They got Miami good.. could have easily lost to Arizona... they are going to get rocked seceral times this year. The bluprint is out there, stop the run, make Jackson beat you through the air. Score points early and they can't come back. -
I think the Giants have a couple of chances to Win, the Jets look to be in trouble. I'm rooting for them tonight, Cleveland is way more talented and a much bigger threat to take a playoff spot. I wouldn't be shocked to see the Jets get blown out or come out and win, tough to guess which teams will show up.

I don't like them less because they were against those teams, the Jets is a big win for playoff hopes, so freebie or not, you need it. Making sure the AFC record is good is going to be a big factor in the wildcard. The Patriots get the same games, I'll chalk thise up for wins for them too. Until the Bills beat the Pats, I'm not convinced they are in the same conversation, so to me, the Bills are playing for WC. The good part, the other divisions are more competitive and SHOULD beat up on each other more. That could be a huge help in tie breakers. The schedule is actually setting up well for the Bills this year. Realistically, they should have 5 AFC wins pretty easily between the Jets, Phins and Cincinnati is not looking good. They have some work to do elsewhere, but nobody outside of the Pats stands out as an unbeatable team. The Pats could fall, but its asking a lot. -

To be completely fair and honest, its hard to find an easiernstartnto this season than the one the Bills got. Quite honestly, the first 3 games may very well end up being 3 of the top 6 draft spots. -
Brees out 6 weeks. Big Ben out for the season.
DCofNC replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Steelers might be alright with Rudolph, he was a solid prospect coming out, he did pretty well yesterday. The Saints better throw Hill in if its going to be long without Breese. I get that Teddy is the more accomplished player, but my gawd he was awful yesterday. If Hill is what Payton thinks he is, its time to see it, if not, they are staring a top 10 pick in the face if Breese is out for the year. Not meaningfully. -
Love our OL .. Electric Company Reincarnated?

Ford can road grade, I'm just not sure he has the feet to be outside. Normally, I'd say "kick him inside and let him play guard", but at the moment, the best player on the OL is manning RG, so you would have to flip him to LG and Spain hasn't deserved a demotion either. Hopefully, he can pick it up and prove he can pass block. If they can't stop a blitz/alow it to shut down the O, they will be getting blitzed all year. You know the Pats wont be scared to let it fly, they have DBs they trust, it could be ugly if they don't figure it out soon. -

Yeah, looked like a garbage call, Morse is still having a few little issues, but no TC doesn't help that. -
I noticed it as well, Sammy was the last guy you truly had to respect. It was nice to see.

Should be somewhere around 240, but that over throw cost him. He's off to a really nice start this year.

A Few Thoughts about the Giants game, in no particular order
DCofNC replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His entire college career was blocking, he also happens to be fast and has potential to be a pass catcher, hence he was a lower pick. He's really good at blocking and missed a perfect throw, so which is he really? -
How can anybody give that an A? Maholmes put up better numbers by half time. THAT'S what an A looks like. I have it somewhere around a B minus. His innacuracy on a handful of throws cost points. His ability to step up and make some great throws was alos hard to miss. The execution in the second half played a big part in the slowing down, missed opportunities killed drives more than conservative play calls. I do want to see them come out with a killer mentality and absolutely pour it on a team, theres no prize for being nice, go build confidence and WIN a game, instead of being happy the other team didn't.

He's still pretty inconsistent, which one would hope he can clean up. That ball to Smoke was just awful. The McKenzie catch was more than a lot high, and the missed ball to Zay would have been a big play. He's threading some needles and missing water falling out of a boat in the same series at times, I don't know what to think of it. The accuracy thing will follow him until he does what La?ma?... sorry threw up in my mouth twice.. until he can do what Lamar Jackson is doing. Jackson is hitting wide open guys as they jog into the endzone. I wouldn't trade QBs, but thats what is inflating Jackson's stats. Its the simple things that hes doing and Josh still seems to miss all too often.

This line is VASTLY better than last year, but still is struggling quite a bit. Morse has had some penalties, I'll credit more to just getting going in the season.. Dawkins, Ford, Nseke have struggled quite a bit. Spain has been solid Feliciano has been a REALLY great signing. The tackles worry me. They aren't turnstiles like we have seen in captain wind Mills, but certainly not playing to the level they need to in pass pro. -
If Singletary is hurt... trade for Gordon
DCofNC replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeldon and Gore are similar in terms of running style, I think they'd bring back Perry possibly to be a DS stop gap. Gordon is not worth a high pick and 14M a year.. hes good, but i honestly dont think he is great. -
Miami reportedly ready to pull plug on Fitz
DCofNC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tom Brady in his prime couldn't win with that team. The quicker Fitz gets out the better. -
To recap what I have seen here as a lot of valid points: He's been hit A LOT in a relatively short career, but 8 years of beatings are no joke. He was never labled an elite passer, good at best. He doesn't appear to have his legs under him right now. If they are done, so is he. If hes just getting back in shape because he missed a ton of time with the shoulder, he may be fine. The shoulder... we aren't doctors, but is he full strength? For me it comes down to seeing if he can get his legs back under him, if he can, he'll be ok. If not, he is done. How long it takes the Panthers to admit it/ be able to do anything about it are the real questions. Rosen might be available ?
-
Woof.. great point. I have to think there will be a HUGE pressure from the NFL to tell them to get it together, this is embarrassing. If they have the balls to tread it, maybe it doesn't matter. If they could pull another high first and second this year, plus a 1st and chenge from next year to trade out, they would have SO much ammo, but then again, they could go a Raiders and not net anything with it.. risky business.
-
A 2nd is about fair vs his former draft status, look what Rosen brought back. That said, he looks to be an inside corner, not really the outside guy the Bills could use. I wouldn't trade a 2nd for that position. If they see a guy that can play outside or slide to FS, then yeah thats fine. If theres one think I know, McDermott has forgotten more about DBs than I'll ever know, so that's all him. Its a great value IF he's the player you want/need and you can pull him for a second. That's 4 years of high end play at mid tier money for a 2nd round pick. I could see a contender being willing to fork over a first if they see a difference maker, a low first round pick for a high end contributor makes sense, but again, thats not the player I see him being.

Giants writer has great analysis of Allen first game
DCofNC replied to NakedSquid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I didn't realize is Zay had his guy really beaten, the throw made him stop. Very different from what it appeared in live action. Good point as well, that's exciting to see. Also great recognition as he looked to plug on gap and saw his lineman was going to be there, let it go before engagement to be ready for the next guy. I can see why they thought so much of him. Obviously, this is just one play, but good stuff!
