  1. I figured it was on the low end compared to most major American cities. Denver is actually worse? Very surprising.
  2. This is horrible news. Denver is about as safe a downtown community as you'll fined. The Denver post sighted an altercation at the bar, nobody knows if it's linked to the shooting or not. Some are discussing how the culture of these athletes increases the likelihood of these events happening. All I know is that being a man in today’s society means walking away. I'm not saying if he did that in this instance DW would be alive (nobody knows what happened). I'm just saying in general it's better to swallow your pried and avoid confrontation. Way too many people own guns, and way too many people can't just throw down and be done with it.
  3. Lot's of scramblers can have success throwing in high school or college. It's the result of teams lacking the athletic ability to stop the scrambler from scrambling in base formations. Teams dare the scrambler to win throwing because they most certainly will win if you can't take away their legs. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you end up letting the guy run and pass all over you. In the NFL teams don't have to take such drastic measures to take away a QB's running ability. At the least they will let a QB rip off some long runs because they know it can't be done consistently enough to win. So to be good long term, and consistently you need to be able to win on the merits of your arm, and your arm alone. If in a couple of seasons Vince Young can show that in the NFL I'll eat crow by the gallon. But nothing he's done at Texas, or in high school, or thus far in the NFL shows that.
  4. People with racist agendas discuss how smart a QB needs to be, and how few black QB's you see in the NFL. They conclude the black player isn't smart enough to be a QB. This couldn't be further from the truth. The problems start for these guys in terms of NFL preparation right from the beginning. It is not the primary goal of a high school/college coach to prepare a player for the NFL. The primary goal is always winning. If you're a coach you want to put your team in the best position to win each game no matter what level of play you’re at. In high school the athletic QB's can have more success running then passing. The athletes just aren't good enough to stop the scrambling QB's from running or optioning. These coaches aren't racist, they’re just trying to win, and winning is more likely when you use the most consistent risk free method of moving the football. A similar story happens in college, especially in the case of the super QB athlete like Vick and Young. The whole time these guys could have NFL caliber arm strength, but it's never harnessed like it would be for the pocket passer. They're offering a more effective way of moving the football, which offers a more consistent way to win. This continues being true all the way until the NFL. Now everybody is fast and athletic. The hit's and speed in which the game is played is mind boggling. The athletic QB can no longer do the things he did for the past 6-8 years in high school and college. They must now learn to win on the merits of their arms. That's very difficult for pocket guys who’ve already been doing it for 6-8 years. Its borderline impossible for the athletic QB to do it with a fraction of the experience. We eventually saw Vicks athletic ability give way to his inability to read and throw. It took longer then normal being that he is not just a good athlete but a world class athlete. The same can be said about Vince in terms of athleticism. He still hasn't showed us he can win on the merits of his arm, and that alone. Until then nobody can say with certainty that he will be any different. I see the same quality’s as the rest of you in terms of leadership but it all boils down to how he was brought up as a player, and what that has meant progression wise for others in a similar situation.
  5. Yes, just like in South Park the movie.
  6. Flawed how? Because I compared Young to the only guy who's ever resembled his style of play? Sure Flutie "just won" so did Vick early on, so do a ton of these scramblers early on. After a few games, or in some cases seasons, it stops. Coordinators learn tendencies, the hit's start adding up. What did Flutie do after he left Buffalo? What is Vick doing now? I implore you to give me examples of scrambling QB's that sustained play over 5 seasons. I'm not talking about the Donovan McNabs either, I'm talking clear run first QB's. For every one that survived more then a handful of games, or seasons, I could name 100 that haven't. I'll pick this discussion up again a few years from now, until then I'll side with history.
  7. If they only had Mike Tysons Punch Out, still it's pretty sweet and free.
  8. My 360 broke down after 1 week .It's being fixed right now by Microsoft. What I tried was clicking the post link tab at the left, then inserting the full URL in the 2nd box. The link will appear but when I click on it it's broken.
  9. Fired up some Super Tecmo Bowl, and Contra. Talk about flashbacks. Enjoy. http://www.virtualnes.com
  10. The hype surrounding Young is the exact same thing people said about Vick. I didn't buy into Vick then, and I'm not buying into Young now. He can be General Patton for all I care; only a select few scrambling QB's have shown they can sustain success for more then a few years. The only guy in recent history who's adapted was McNair and we all saw how often he was injured. The hits add up, the defensive coordinators learn there tendencies, and the potential for a career ending injury is one hit away. The bottom-line is he will eventually have to adapt to make it in the NFL for the long term. As history taught us the odds of that happening aren't high. Doing exactly what Vick did to us last year doesn't make them any higher. Flame Away
  11. The only guy I'm listing is Ashton Yobouty. Nate status is uncertain and McGee has been just pitiful at times this year. Unfortunately CB could very well leap frog some of the more discussed needs on this team.
  12. According to sperlings best places to live Denver gets 51.7 inches, Buffalo averages 85.4. I lived in Kalamazoo, MI for about 5 years and thought it snowed a ridiculous amount compared to the eastern part of Michigan. Turns out we got the same as Denver, about 52 inches, while the Detroit area only averages in the low 30's. A little northwest of Kalamazoo is Grand Rapids, MI which is much closer to lake Michigan. They average 64 inches per year. The moral of the story is the Great Lakes are snow creating bastardos, and Lake Erie is the biggest bastard of them all.
  13. 1) Fine 2) Not Fine. (Copied from another thread). Julian Peterson set a career high in sacks with one game to play. Above average year in tackles, passes defended. Year two off an Achilles tendon tear. Why are so many people looking to get rid of TKO? Peterson was 28 this year; Spikes will be 31 in the second year of his recovery. Does the body's ability to recover wilt at the age of 30? TKO is the gold standard of who we want on this football team. If we let him go now we might as well have let him go when he tore it last year. No LB is going to return to form the first year from an Achilles. 3) Fine if 4) is true. 5) If you cut TKO it has to come with a cap hit. His original contract was also signed under the old collective bargaining agreement. So it wouldn't be a clean swap. Briggs will demand much more then what Spikes is making. 6) Fine so long as he is a run stuffer. 7) I hope so. If not Marv really fouled up by promising not to franchise Nate. Why would you give the chips back to the player when you’re already holding them? He was never going to hold out and could have easily gotten us a 1st round pick. 8) Fine 9) Fine 10) Whose going to rush the passer at DT? Even if he's not the best he is the best fit for being a pass rush specialist at DT. 11) This would help solve our running problems because every down would turn into a passing situation. He has a good top gear but he doesn't have the lateral speed or acceleration to play OLB. 12) (Kelsey) Fine
  14. Beacuse Tim Brown didn't play against Denver in the playoffs when it was -32 wind chill.
  15. Greise 7.04 YPA 103 TD's 78 INT's 63.2% National Championship with a great defense Dilfer 6.55 YPA 106 TD's 117 INT's 55.7% Super Bowl with a great defense Why am I even responding to you.
  16. Absolutely. Adams had one of the fastest first steps I've ever witnessed out of a man his size. He would be the ideal player for this defense if he had a run stopping attitude. It seemed clear to me he didn't like getting his hands dirty. He would often give up if he couldn't beat his man with that first step, and rarely pursued. He played lazy and I can't blame Marv and Jauron for wanting that type of influence off the team.
  17. Set a career high in sacks with one game to play. Above average year in tackles, passes defended. Year two off an Achilles tendon tear. Why are so many people looking to get rid of TKO? 18. To count on McCargo would be a mistake IMO. Sure he could be good. He could also be bad. All he is right now is a young player who was injured before we could find out if he belongs. We need to address the DT's as if he's not going to make significant contributions next season.
  19. A switch would probably mean the end for Grossman in Chicago. It’s unfortunate because as you point out he’s still raw, and he’s being mismanaged. You can’t argue with their record, but all it takes is one blow up and you’re done. Grease’s the ideal compliment to a great defense. Remember his Michigan days? He’s no Peyton Manning, but he’s more then a Trent Dilfer, and that’s probably enough with who they have. How can’t you make the switch to Greise if you have a better chance at the Super Bowl?
  20. Anybody else see this happening? Greise led the comeback against Detroit. After the game Lovie said he just wanted to look at a few guys. Grossman said he had no idea he was coming out. Sounds a little fishy. I expect it to really start stinking if Greise plays well week 17. Grossman just doesn't seem like a good fit for that team, especially compared to Greise. They need an efficient manager, not a turnover prone gunslinger. Even though it goes against conventional thinking I feel the switch gives them the best chance at winning the NFC. As it stands one blow up game from Rex against a decent playoff team and they could be done.
  21. Only one way to pull of such a daring maneuver. Start talking about wanting to work out. Make it sound like you want to do it for yourself not her. Make sure she never suspects your real intentions. Eventually suggest that you should workout together (atleast at the same time). It won't make her feel so alienated and if she's like most women she will be happy to share another activity with her man. After a few months the added self esteem should be enough for her to want to do it herself.
  22. Exactly. If the poster who mentioned Minnesota being Cover 2 was right that's exactly what I'm looking for. We can run this defense just fine with 9 guys that can fly to the football. If we’are holding out for that quick pass rusher/run stopper combo we'll be at the bottom of the league in run defense for a long time. That is unless we find our Tommie Harris or Warren Sapp. I just see that being a long shot. At the least we can bring in one run situation DT and pair him up with KW. I could live with that potential. You never want to restrict yourself to certain physicality’s, especially at such a sought after position.
