  1. This was my post from Wednesday before today's game. I received many negative comments because of the stats I posted regarding the game outcome! Even though we lost I feel redeemed! And - we beat the point spread experts!!! ORIGINAL POST: The smart men that know the NFL inside & out are making the Patriots 7 point favorites Sunday at New Era Field. It’s actually a smart bet! They are basing this on a game as follows: -Bills control time of possession 32-28 mins ** (BILLS 33 - PATS 27) -Brady throws for 238 yards ** (160 yards) -Allen throws for 170 yards on 16 completions ** (153 yards) -Bills rush for 142 yards ** (135 yards) -PATS rush for 105 yards ** (74 yards) -Each team punts 4 times ** (Pats 9 and Bills 6) I was way off here! SCORE: 24-16
  2. reckless and wary - my thoughts too. It's getting to be you hope he doesn't screw up.
  3. I don't think the offensive game plan helped Allen's play. Why not quick slants, out-patterns or draws?? Maybe the plan was to show off Josh's arm and stretch the defense but obviously that failed. That nice, quick play drive to start the 3rd quarter was never brought back again?
  4. we've won 3 times with his new O group just getting used to each other! Maybe it does matter.
  5. How many times have the PATS played a division opponent with 10 new starters from the previous season going against their defense??? 4 OL, 2 RB, 2 WR and 2 TE's. I'm not counting Josh because he just played 1 game against them. Are these 10 better than the 10 from last year? We know so!
  6. -SUNNY -Game time Temperature: 66 degrees (-17 from last Sunday!) -Zero chance of Rain -WINDS 9 MPH from the ENE with gusts to 14 MPH ** Winds in the Buffalo area are normally from the West ! At 9-14 mph they won't have that much effect on the game as they did last week - - BUT - - Buffalo, by virtue of its position downwind of Lake Erie, is one of the nation's windiest cities, and as a result, New Era Field often is a difficult stadium for QB’s & Kickers with swirling winds that change direction & strength rapidly. This is exacerbated by the stadium's design. The field is 50 feet (15 m) below ground level, while the top of the upper deck stands only 60 feet above ground. When the winds come in, they immediately drop down into the bowl, causing the stadium's signature wind patterns. GO BILLS!
  7. I remember that! Everybody wondered who those people were!!!
  8. A big-time concert fan WHO went to that show on 9/26/82 to see the WHO wrote - I have been to over 450 shows in my life and one of my favorite questions to ask people is "What was the best concert you ever went to?" My own personal answer was The Who at Rich Stadium on their so-called farewell tour. I don't think that The Who were generally near the top of their game during this tour but on this day (a Sunday) they were greeted by the best audience I have ever been a part of and they knew what they had. The energy in that stadium was incredible. David Johansen warmed things up with a 30 minute set highlighted by "Stranded In The Jungle" and his Animals medley. The Clash drew some ire from reactionary fans but delivered a reliable set. The Who kicked ass and took names during their set. The sound was very good and the audience was just electric. As seasoned performers, The Who knew what they had and delivered in spades. No one who attended that show will forget the rain only during "Love Reign O'er Me" In fact I heard a random stranger talk about it eight years after the show at a Bob Dylan show in Toronto in June of 1990. It was one of those priceless moments and it only rained during "Love Reign O'er Me".
  9. I remember so well. The men's bathrooms couldn't handle the crowd so what do you do!!!
  10. Last Sunday 69,448 fans jammed New Era Field for the 2019 home opener. That’s 97% of listed capacity. In 2018 attendance was 69,187 at the opener vs. the Chargers. Remember when that same stadium held 82,290? Tomorrow marks the anniversary of the largest official attendance for a concert at Rich Stadium. 80,107 came to hear the WHO on September 26, 1982. I realize the NFL wants Buffalo to build a new stadium. It’s the cool thing to do with plush suites, bigger video boards and supposedly it will provide more revenue to visiting teams. WHY in Buffalo? We consistently draw to 90% capacity. I realize the economics and population in the Buffalo area doesn’t fit the NFL model. So what? We ARE Buffalo and that’s the way it is. We’re a special city with a special NFL football team. Any other old memories from our old stadium??? GO BILLS!
  11. I agree the biggest problem will be gaining yards or sustaining drives vs. the PATS D.
  12. This comes from Vegas! Do you think they throw out a point spread Monday AM just based on home/away records or historical trends? They build a program for all the games, get a spread and then stick to it. If the weather at New Era gets ugly or Edelman can't play that may throw a point or two!
  13. The smart men that know the NFL inside & out are making the Patriots 7 point favorites Sunday at New Era Field. It’s actually a smart bet! They are basing this on a game as follows: -Bills control time of possession 32-28 mins -Brady throws for 238 yards -Allen throws for 170 yards on 16 completions -Bills rush for 142 yards -PATS rush for 105 yards -Each team punts 4 times SCORE: 24-16 HOW DO WE BEAT THAT SCENARIO ?
  14. During his weekly appearance on WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show," Brady shared some kind words for Bills Mafia ahead of Sunday's game in western New York. "I love playing up there. It's one of the great environments in NFL football," Brady said. "It's an old stadium, but they get incredible support. We've played up there early [kickoff time], we've played up there late, we've played up there when they've not had great records, when they've had great records, and their fans are into it. They cheer, they love football." That isn't the only reason Brady loves playing in Buffalo. The six-time Super Bowl champion owns an eye-popping 30-3 record against the Bills in his career. His 15 victories in Buffalo are the most by a starting quarterback since 2001, and his 38 touchdowns there trail only Ryan Fitzpatrick (39) for most by a QB in that span.
  15. I'm an old fan and I had the same feelings? It seems the NFL has become a different experience. For me, too much nonsense off the field and way too much money being made off loyal fans who just want to see a competitive game.
  16. Thank you for this great write-up. I can't get to the games anymore due to health issues and it's wonderful to read your descriptions about the game and atmosphere. You can only feel so much from a TV screen.
  17. Murphy is a veteran disappointment and Oliver doesn't impress me at all. He gets tied up with the opponents OL way too much and accomplishes zero.
  18. I agree. We have the guy with the big gun and not the pistol!
  19. -High of 83 degrees at 1PM kick-off with sun & clouds -Humidity @ 70% -Winds SW @ 15-20 MPH with possible gusts @25-30 MPH A day for short passes and pounding the run!!!
  20. WHY would there be outrage? When the Bills get a player from the Bengals disappointment is to be expected!! AJ McCarron has thrown 17 passes (none with the Bills) during his 6 year NFL regular season career? Russell Bodine was a joke from day #1. And Bodine bought his home in Orchard Park from McCarron - -true story!!
  21. I agree! I'm not butt hurt at all. I think way too many people have jumped on the Allen train with out seeing anything to justify it.
  22. Well, I'll take your word about that. If he knows what he's talking about we ARE the 26th ranked team out of 32 heading into the season. Not good!
  23. either they don't respect our defense, don't like Josh or feel the Bills are irrelevant as a franchise
