I wanted Breece Hall, an olineman, or a WR. We are flush with defensive talent and I argued that we could wait to get a DB on day 2 or 3. That just doesn’t seem to be the way with this staff. I just hope they finally do what needs done this off-season with a focus on offense.

True, but look at the amount of early round WRs last year. I’d take any of them right now. Christian Watson and George Pickens look like first round talents. Would anyone have cared if we took either of them as the 7th or 8th guy?

Honestly, a round 1 defensive player might send me into a rage.

I just don’t understand the need to draft another DB high. McD can coach DBs up better than anyone and Hamlin looks like he can pair just fine with Hyde once he’s back. This off-season has to be about the offense with the premium picks. This. Go get a day 3 safety to develop for when Hyde is gone. We dont need a day 1 or 2 safety. The offense is the priority for once.

I wouldn’t say it’s the consensus, but I’ve seen it. I don’t agree with it though. I’ve also seen a lot of interior oline and WRs mocked to us in 1. I think most people are recognizing that our future need and current weaknesses lie on the offensive side.

I agree. Too often, stats don’t tell the entire story. Like last year when our d was rated number one but most would agree it wasn’t the best in the league. Well…Saffold may not have given up a sack, but he hasn’t been great either. Beane bet on Allen’s talent to mask the deficiencies of the line, which is exactly what has happened. Totally agree. Prime draft assets need to go to the offense. Enough of betting on Allen to cover up the deficiencies of a patch work oline. Get him a couple new linemen and a weapon or two to pair with Diggs. I think Saffold realizes his career is winding down and is doing a little butt kissing cause he knows his options may be limited.

I had hopes for Davis and I still think he can be serviceable. I have my doubts that he will get a second contract here after we invested heavily in Allen, Diggs, and knox. I think we will draft someone to compete with Davis next year and slide into the number 2 role the following year. However…I never really thought for a second that McKenzie could fill beasleys shoes. Sure he he a few good moments, but he’s mainly a gadget guy. I had a strong feeling that decision was gonna bite us and it did. Then again, we brought in crowder who naturally got hurt. Either way, the slot position was arguably Allen’s biggest fallback the last few years and it was largely misjudged by Beane.

Good points. I also think the focus was too “chiefs centric” this past offseason. You could argue that it’s been the case the past two. Well…now our division foes are catching up with us from focusing on beating us twice a year. Meanwhile, we focused on a team that we may not even play if the playoffs don’t shake a certain way.

True, but when was the last time yoy heard Beane talk about alway adding to the offensive line? I ask that because every year you hear him say about always adding the defensive line. It’s clear what his priority is. I’m hoping after this year he sees things a little differently. I am confident he will.

Well we all know why they got the calls in the first place. And that reason is no longer there…
-
We didn’t? That’s why they play 60 minutes. Anything can happen. I never agreed with the “we didn’t deserve to win” mantra.
-
Yeah it’s his hands and route running. He’s all or nothing. Doesn’t make the routine plays over the middle. When he does, he usually has hands issues.

I like gabe. I just don’t think he’s a true 2. I am not advocating us moving on from him. Just put his where he excels…as a 4 or 5.

Honestly, you could realistically pin the dolphins and jets losses on his drops. He dropped a td in the EZ against the dolphins that could have won it for us. Then he had that 70 yard bomb from Allen hit him between the numbers.
