A drop is a drop and a poor pass is a poor pass. There may be a tiny bit of overlap but the two things are different and counted differently. I would hazard to guess that the great majority of dropped passes (over 95%) are NOT on Allen. Just like the great majority of missed throws are not on the receivers running the route wrong. One measure describes a receiving problem and one a QB problem. Don't try to make BOTH measures about Allen. It reeks of bias. And I've never said that Allen doesn't throw bad passes. EVERY QB does. As for Mahomes throwing "catchable" balls I can only go by what I've seen and what I see are receivers who CATCH his passes even when they're poorly thrown. How many times have you seen Kelsey grab a ball that was down around his knees or soaring over his head? And down here in Southern Ohio High School football is big and I watch most of the Friday Night games the team in my community plays. And every time someone talks about Allen's accuracy in HIGH SCHOOL they lose a lot of credibility with me. What a player does in high school has almost nothing to do with what they do in the NFL. NOTHING. It tells me you don't actually watch much HS football.

Do you watch other football games? Not just the NFL but also in college you will see all sorts of receivers catching balls that are low, high, or to one side or the other. But from my vantage point, in the drops I've seen the ball was mostly on the money and didn't have excessive velocity. It's actually stunning that the Bills have FOUR receivers with the most drops in the top 45 players with drops in the NFL. Considering the total # of receivers available to include in this list this is an amazing stat. I agree with others that have noted that both Singleterry & Knox have little college experience in pass receiving. And Beasley & Brown may not be used to the tight windows Allen puts the ball. But the reality is that this stat more then any other IMO has contributed significantly to our offensive struggles.

Yep. Remember how Kyle Allen & Gardner Minshew hadn't thrown an INT after their first few games. Well the tape came in and now all a DE has to do is yell BOO at them and they fumble. Here are their total TD/TO numbers: Minshew = 15/12 Kyle Allen = 18/19 I'll use these numbers to predict what happens to Duck in the future.

Bingo! One of the reasons there often is a "sophomore slump" among fast starting young QB's is that they're asked to do a lot more after their rookie season. It's obvious to anyone watching that Dabold expects Allen to take on a much bigger load in calling pass protections, diagnosing defenses and getting to his 3rd read. Combine this with the fact that every D coordinator now has over a year of film on Allen it's not surprising that elite defenses coached by elite D-coordinators can confuse Allen at times. The next 2 years will tell the real story as Allen gains more experience and the Bill's surround him with better offensive talent. Remember we're only about half way into a complete rebuild of the offense.

Which half are you talking about Kiva? Because in the 2nd half, with the game on the line Allen played very well. Several big drops and a missed PI call by the refs cost the Bills the game. But it's wrong to claim that Allen had a bad game when anyone watching the game could see he played well in the 2nd half. This is why the eye test is every bit as good as the numbers test in evaluating a QB. Last night we watched Darnold throw for 75 yards & a TD after the Ravens had surged to a 42 - 13 lead. Yet in the flawed analysis of PFF garbage time numbers will be thrown into the equation.

My observations of the 1st half: * Our D really played good Sunday. This Ravens O is scary and we definitely kept them on the wrong foot most of the game. The Jets have a decent D and the Ravens are cutting right through them. * Gage had the Jets well prepared for what the Ravens D might throw at them. * The Jets return game has been outstanding tonight. * Darnold, like Allen is a young QB on the upswing. Like Allen, Darnold is also going to run hot & cold. That last series you had the overthrow of an open WR and then a very bad INT. It happens. * And for as well as Jackson has played tonight, he's had at least 3 very bad passes. Good QB's throw bad passes - who would have thunk?

So it's all on Allen huh? How about receivers that catch the ball; how about receivers that get open; how about an O-line that can dominate; I could go on but you get the picture. Of course Allen needs to improve but so does the rest of the offense. This is an offense in the middle of being rebuilt. We have THREE rookies starting and a 2nd year QB who is considered a project. Yet you want to call out the QB as the problem? A fine example of ADS (Allen Derangement Syndrome).

Bingo! And remember how after they had fast starts folks on 2BD were talking about how Minshew & Kyle Allen were better value then Allen because they were low draft picks? Now look at them: Minshew = 15/12 Kyle Allen = 18/19 -

The thing that drives me nuts is the notion that Allen is a turnover machine. From the link on page 21 of this thread: Let's look at some QB's rated equal to or better then Allen on this list and focus on their total TD's and total TO's: Watson = 31/12 Jimmy G = 26/16 Dak Prescott = 27/12 Ryan = 23/16 Wentz = 23/13 Carr = 19/11 Allen = 25/12 Now lets throw out a couple of names who are rated lower then Allen but aren't called TO machines: Rivers = 20/17 Goff = 17/19 Mayfield = 19/18 Minshew = 15/12 Darnold = 17/12 Kyle Allen = 18/19 Now lets look at the whole list (31 players) and focus on those that have as many or more fumbles then "fumble prone Josh Allen": Rodgers = 4 Jimmy G = 5 Ryan = 4 Wentz = 6 Goff = 5 Winston = 5 Minshew = 7 Kyle Allen = 7 To be clear I left out the elite QB's who have much better numbers then Allen. But Allen isn't elite YET. But the notion that he's a TO machine is rubbish and the numbers prove it. -
Joe B All-22 vs Baltimore from The Athletic

What do you describe as a "good throw"? If the interference doesn't happen Foster catches the ball, yes? That seems like a good throw to me. On deep throws accuracy is a bit different then 10 yard slant passes. Have you watched how KC's T. Hill tracks down and catches a deep ball? The throw by Allen on that play was a fantastic deep pass that was on target where it could only be caught by a Bills player or draw a PI by the Ravens player. The fact the dirty ref didn't throw the flag is simply a comment on the crappy officiating that we put up with in the NFL.
