Sees us as last in the Division. Obviously, he has many critics, but I’ve always liked him and he makes points.

    *Alarming 7 Blowout loses

*Young QBs do better with Offensive HC

*Fish go from 7-9 pretenders to WC consideration w/Rosen

    *Pats* great Draft

    *Jets did much to improve

I’m good with this analysis as we all (AFCE) play a comparatively favorable schedule and no Bills fans really know what we have or who we are yet. We’re putting a lot of stock and hope that all the pieces will fit nicely very quickly. If not, and it’s unreasonable to expect it, we’re going to lose games we likely should and could have won, while learning ‘who we are’.

I still think 10 wins is possible, but it’ll take at least 3 Division wins to accomplish.

CC is an absolute joke of a media member his opinion is always based on some weird ways of thinking and outright outrageous comparisons.  I hate his guts to be honest not as a person but as a media member?

    Ok, hear me out.

    * The kid scored a 36 on the Wunderlic (compared to Jimbo’s 20 or so...no offense)

    * He obviously has legs to call his own number.

    * Defenses will not be able to substitute in quick enough to account for Beasley, Brown etc.

    * He is growing with the job. He can handle the duties.

Would love to see Josh call his own plays (like Jimbo) and have Daboll coach him up.

Eventually Allen will have the ability to make changes to play calls once he gets the experience necessary.  All franchise QBs have this type of leeway.

Guys, If someone signs Shaq next off season it will effect the comp formula for that season. So signing a million free agents in 2019 would have nothing to do with someone else signing Shaq in 2020. The Bills aren't getting any comp picks in 2020 draft, becuase they signed a lot of free agents in 2019. They could get comp picks in the 2021 draft and Shaq signing elsewhere in the 2020 offseason would effect that. People gotta read up on how this stuff works before going all apeshit.

Damn right I'm tired of people bringing up the comp pks. We should shut down all comp talk here until this team is great and doesn't have a ton of players on 1yr deals.

WR and DE are going to be by far are biggest, and only major, needs going into 2020

It's not about needs it's about Stars. Every team has needs . Hopefully Allen becomes a star that will mask a bunch of needs likewise with Edmunds and Oliver on D. Super Bowls are won by stars no doubt about it.  Right now we don't have any but this yr hopefully some will develop.

I like Andrew Brandt, and appreciate his usually solid takes. In this case, though I’m not sure it’s an indictment on the Bills own scouting. It’s fair to say it’s damning of their former GM and HC though. Lawson just hasn’tshown he’s consistent enough to be paid at that number. Smart move by the Bills FO here.

The thing is he's going to be 24 this yr he's very young and has gotten better . If he gets 8 -10 sacks in 2019 his value will skyrocket . The tag is only guaranteed for injury so if he didn't perform  he would be released.  I hope McBeane is wrong on this one and Shaq busts out in a major way this yr.

Agree. Excited to see "new (definitely) & improved (hopefully)" O-Line. Equally excited to see Oliver on D. Think this might be a make or break season for #17 at least in the eyes of many fans. I'm not too worried yet but the next few months will fly and it'll be mid-season before we know it.

To early for make or break but he definitely needs to make big strides

Give him one more year to mature...keep him around.  Let him walk if he doesn't earn the 10 mil in his option year.  He is young, and apparently has finally learned how to be a pro.  Maybe he will be a late bloomer.   terrible Whaley/Ryan pick though....he was not ready.....

I agree , just look at Jerry it took him 4yrs to get his career on track.

  7. 1 hour ago, Woodman19 said:

Exactly, you can do better in free agency with $10.2 million than Shaq.  Don't overvalue him just because he's home grown.

10 mil is basically a solid player salary now a days . I think its worth the risk because we can just release him at the end of the season if he doesn't have a serious injury. If he steps his pass rush up to around 8sks and can still be one of the best at DE against the run then he'll be well worth it.  Plus we have to keep that franchise tag available for Jerry . So give him the 5th yr option and hopefully he blows up this yr and we won't have to make a decision on him and Jerry.

So, he will be an average NFL player, we reached, Beane was nervous and we lost the draft.  You may have just set the record for # of hot takes in less than 52 words.

One thing I have learned in my many years on this planet is "do not make pronouncements about things you are not expert in." Have an opinion, offer that opinion, but, don't make pronouncements because they have a tendency to make you look stupid if anyone cares to bring them up down the road.

I've been making proclamations for 20yrs I've been right @ least 70% of the time.  That's my opinion maybe I'm right maybe I'm wrong but Singletary will not live up to his 3rd rd grade . I'll even go one further fans on this board will be unhappy about this pk for quite some time and they'll be talking about players like Winovich and Sternberger amongst others of players we missed on.

Clearly the Bill's scouting department and decision makers feel differently, but I'm guessing all your extensive and exhaustive hours researching and scouting came to this informed analysis.

The kid will be average at best in the NFL . We reached for him and in turn gave up basically the rest of our mid rd pks to get Knox . In which Beane has admitted to getting nervous about during the draft.  In my opinion that's where we lost the draft.

Wentz completed 63% of his passes as a rookie and threw for more TD than INTs with an average group of recievers.  I’m pretty sure they knew what they had and went out and got him Alshon Jeffrey etc.

Wentz recievers, who he completed 63% to were Zack Etta (good) Jordan Mathews (not good) Darren Sproles (very old) Trey Burton and Nelson Agahlor.

Speaking of the Eagles I wonder if they would part with Dallas Goedert for a 2nd and 4th next yr I'm even willing to give them 1 of the guards we signed.

  11. Devin averaged 5.2 yds per carry in 2018 in a horrible conference.  I hope his Oline had more to do with that then him.

I much rather have taken Winovich or Sternberger at that pk then trade up for Hakeem Butler.  Good backs were going all the way threw the 6th rd in this draft. Who knows Singletary might of stuck around to our 5th rd pk. Not sure many teams cover at 5'7 195lb back with over 700 carries this early in the draft.  Shifty or not I mean Tarik Cohen went in the 5th and he's more talented then Singletary.

McDermott was in charge. Everybody knows that. That's why I said Beane AND McDermott. Those two are responsible for the latest rebuild of this team.

He might of made the final decisions but those were players brought to him by Whaley and his scouts. Btw don't glorify that draft to much we missed out on some really good players in that draft including the MVP of the NFL . U can't trade our last 3 drafts combined for Mahomes. Which btw I the random fan wanted very badly in the 1st rd. I guess I should be paid millions to.  ?

  13. 6 hours ago, MJS said:

Beane and McDermott have already proven, in their last two years of drafting, that they are good at identifying talent and getting guys that will help the team. Edmunds, Allen, Matt Milano, Taron Johnson, Tre White, Wyatt Teller, Dion Dawkins, Zay Jones. Undrafted Levi Wallace and Robert Foster. These are guys from the last two draft classes that have been significant contributors and are the building blocks of the new team. You can't argue with their success rate.

Those are definitely exceptions. If you never found diamonds in the rough, the draft would only be 4 rounds long. But generally speaking, higher picks are better.

The problem with your rebuttal average random fan is that Whaley and his scouts ran the 2017 draft not Beane.

  14. 7 minutes ago, MJS said:

Thanks, random fan. I'll trust the experts and the people who get paid millions of dollars because of their proven record of talent evaluation.

Proven record of throwing away mid rd pks. That's what the Bills do this is nothing new.  Paid millions yes and there's plenty of them being paid millions to go home and collect dust because of there inept draft skills.

People here amaze me u want to crown Beane for making no brainer pks u don't have to pay me millions to pick Oliver and Cody in the 1st 2 rds. Matter of fact 90% of this board could of done that for free. Where GMs earn respect is in the mid rds of the draft.

    • Haha (+1) 1
  15. I see it in another way Gms earn there stripes in these mid rds and we gave our pks away like candy. I see teams like Balt and NE earning a living in these rds yr in yr out.  We haven't changed much we still love giving away these pks from Russ Brandon to Buddy to Whaley and now Beane it's Halloween and we got the candy to hand out.

    Well it’s essentially 1 4th round pick because they gained a 3rd

To me we wasted 2 pks for nothing .

Singletary- Small and slow doesn't equal workhorse . His highlight videos are against some crappy schools . Yes he's shifty and does his best impression of McCoy but after carrying the ball more then 700 times in college gives the feel that we bought an old sports car with a with some serious dents and a ton of miles.

When you have 10 picks you use them to trade up and get better picks. That's what those 4th rounders were there for. And I hope the Bills use more of their lower picks to trade up a bit again. Having a bunch of 4th round and below guys on your team is not super helpful. Yes, you might get lucky with one of them, but generally speaking the higher a guy is drafted the better career he'll have. Generally.

This draft is not top heavy but it has great depth all the way threw the 5th rd. From the 3rd to 5 has basically the same caliber players . Beane fumbled the draft when he took Singletary then he had to correct his wrong by moving up for Knox.

  18. 4 hours ago, sven233 said:

My biggest issue with this pick is not the player.  He could turn out to be awesome.  My only concern is giving up 2 4th round picks to get him.  But, it looks like Beane is starting to feel like our roster is getting very close to where he wants it to be and that the chances of these lower round guys making the team is slim.  If that's the case, then this makes giving up the 2 4th rounders a bit easier to swallow.

This is exactly how I feel these players can be good but I truly believe Beane panicked when he select "Lil Motor" in the 3rd with Chase Winovich and Jace Sternberger still available then to right his wrong he gave up our 2 4s on Knox. Like u said it's not so much the players in that we paid handsomely for them.

Any GM can look great pkn in the top 10 of the first 2rds but the meat and potatoes in this draft and every draft is the 3rd threw 5th rds. I give Beane a F grade for how he handled the 2nd day starting in the 3rd rd and what makes even more of a head scratcher is that he admitted during his press conference that panicked a Lil bit.

yup lets continue to draft defense while our potential franchise QB goes into another year playing with practice squad talent on offense.

people who think Allen is somehow magically going to take this offense from bottom 3 to top 15 are going to get a big fat reality check soon. our offense is FAR from where it needs to be right now.

I want offense as much as anyone but if there is a higher rated possible difference maker on defense available I say take him.
