I think Isabella has a small chance of going RD 1. I highly doubt he last to the end of RD 2. He is really good, and proved his speed at the combine.

The only reason I think he can be there in late 2 is because of his size he's not the prototypical wr most teams look for high in the draft . Plus he played at a small school.

    For sure...

i liked seeing AJ at the combine. He was quicker and faster than most expected him to be. Doubt he’s there at 40.

I was at the senior bowl and saw Isabella and Samuels close up. Both have big legs, strong lower bodies. Samuels was a little bigger. Has bigger hands, is fast toasted Rock Ya Sin a few times who was the senior bowls top CB.  Samuels is about 15-20 lbs heavier than Isabella. That’s why I lean towards Deebo. I’d be fine with either. If we could move back up between 50-65 and land any of these guys I’d be stoked.

Ive been saying all along I think 5 of the first 10 picks in round 2 will be WRs

Deebo is very impressive also reminds me alot of Landry. But Andy he has that speed and wiggle in his routes that's nearly unguardable. The reason why I compare him to AB is because of those skill sets he has.

    I’m 100% for TE WR rd 1&2

    I like

    1. TJ Hockenson

    2. AJ Brown/Deebo Samuels/Riley Ridley/Parris Campbell.... in that order.  Isabella is definitely a possibility at 40 but I like your idea of moving back up in the 2nd and using 40 maybe on best Defense available

I would be flexible to using 40 on something else like an Olineman or a DT like Simmons or Lawrence . But the main 2 guys for me it's Hock and Isabella. Foster, Duke & Zay will fight it out for the other outside spot in the future.

  4. The way I see it we dodged a major bullet by failing to get the AB trade made . But what did we learn from this debacle? For me it's not exactly what I learned but what I want to double down on. It's the fact that we are the Buffalo Bills and skill set players don't want to be here. There's plenty of reasons for this but the most important is we don't have a solidified franchise QB and we've been losing for so long . So what do we do about this?

The way I look at it the most important thing we need to do this offseason is get some major upgrades at the skill set positions for Josh Allen . The #1 objective entering free agency is to get the offensive line fixed. Add 2 or 3 players spend money . We don't need to have the best offensive line in football we just need to have a good line ranked somewhere between 10th and 15th best in the league.  By getting the O-line in order we can turn our attention to the defensive side of the ball and add a few complementary pieces for last yrs #2 ranked D.

The Clear Path in This Draft

To me it's simple the draft is talking to us and we have to be able to understand what it's saying and take advantage.

#1 TJ Hockenson- TJ would be a great addition to this team and the city of Buffalo.  This kid plays like u would want a Bills TE to play . He's physical can pancake DEs and LBers in the run game but what makes him special is that he's equally as good in the passing gm and will be a mismatch for any one trying to cover him.  TJ plays with high intensity and energy and I can see this kid growing into a fierce leader for our team moving forward. Plus I can envision jersey sales threw the roof because he will grow into a fan favorite.  TJ is a no brainer selection and if we don't take him he'll be selected soon after us .

    Rd #2  take 2 Wrs

#40 - the value here is at the outside WR spot draft anyone of these 4 guys Hakeem , Harry, Harmon or Ridley  . 1 of these 4 are sure to be here . All 4 of these players are capable of being good to great players . They all have size , speed and route running abilities to be difference makers  for the position .

Next move get our Slot Wr Trade bk into late 2nd rd give up our 3rd, 4th & 5th to get this done and draft Andy Isabella.  Andy is gonna be a great player in this league mark my words . Matter of fact I think he can be AB type player . This kid has some serious agility in open space and will be a nightmare for opposing slot corners. Plus he can burn at 4.31 speed that's a really dangerous combo.

We come out the draft with these 3 players we can really be in position to put together a great offense going into the future.  These players will grow with Allen to be force and the fact that there home grown talents it will be easier to keep them here when they become available in free agency.

Now we have competition at Wr

    Zay

    Foster

    Duke

    Rookie outside Wr

     Isabella

    TJ Hock

I realize this is a very young WR core so we should just add 1 veteran via free agency to lead the WR room a guy that can be a good leader for these kids.  Also with a young core like this there will be some growing pains so with the addition of a veteran WR he can start to begin the season with Zay and Foster.  Maybe we can sign Donte Moncreif to fill that role . Having 3 guys that can play will be pivotal to the development of the 2 rookies we have on the bench as it will not put pressure on them to play right away and they can develop properly by playing sparingly rotating in with these other wrs . U don't want 2 rookie wrs on the field at the same time because they just don't have the experience to read defenses adjust there routes and be on the same page as Allen . I believe a plan like this benefits us for now and mostly for the future of this team.  Plus we still have pks in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 2 7s to add more talent to other positions on this team.

Last but not least we won't fix all our holes in this one offseason but with this plan we start the building of a core on offense leading into Allen 2nd yr which is pivotal . Let all these kids build something together grow and build relationships together as home grown talents something we can identify as our own.

I already am a big fan of Brandon Beane. I think he is going to prove to be an EXCELLENT GM.

That being said, I'm actually a bit perplexed at the attempt to get Brown.

From a culture standpoint, it doesn't seem like a fit.

From a "having a head case WR yelling in Allen's ear every time he doesn't get the ball" perspective, it doesn't seem like a fit.

Considering McDermott recently says he wants a WR that can work well with Allen, catch passes, then put the ball down and line up and do it again, it doesn't seem like a fit.

Considering McDermott and Beane recently talked down the notion of needing a "#1 WR" in their offense and given the fact that Daboll's Erhardt-Perkins offense historically DOESN'T need a #1 WR, it doesn't seem like a fit.

I fully grant that adding Brown would be a HUGE boost to the Bills offense from a pure talent standpoint. But from all the other angles I just mentioned, it seems like a weird move.

One thing it does is show us all that without a shadow of a doubt, Beane views 2019 as the year to strike and really build up the talent level on this team, and is willing to take risks to accomplish that goal.

I'm beggining to start to like Beane but he should have read the tea leaves on this situation.  It was a major miscalculation on his part . Brown wasn't coming here and other players like won't come here either until we prove to be a competent organization that wins games regularly. When I say players like him I mean divas.

Btw great post I agree with what u are saying .

TBH i wouldn't hate us signing Moncrief as a player and certainly agree with the upside e v a l you have there. Just feel like the money, or at least part of what we'd end up paying for him, would be better spent on the FA OL market front, especially with WR depth in the draft.

I agree I want 2 or 3 olineman from free agency first and foremost . That opens up the draft to get us some skill position guys.

I know everyone is up on Humphries and T Williams, but I'm of the minority that doesn't see the upside for either, especially for what they would cost. I'm also in the now minority thinking Funchess would be one of the only FA WRs remotely worth what he likely could be had for (to clarify, Funchess still has a price tag for me that I wouldn't go over per his recent season - right around the 5-6 mil mark, which I know is too high for many on here). Cobb, Garcon, Moncrief and the like may end up commanding too much for their worth, and Funchess might fall in that fold as well. The argument for any of them being the veteran presence in an otherwise young corps (don't dislike the guy, but I don't personally think Deonte Thompson is that current veteran role guy to have).

But I'm still for taking a chance on Funchess to help round out the corps and compete for options in an otherwise meh WR FA pool overall. Given our cap cushion though, we're likely more comfortable making higher offers regardless so much of this opinion will likely end up a moot point. ?‍♂️

I like Moncreif the best out of these guys . He has a nice skill set . He has good deep speed averages around 12.7 yds per catch for his career can high point the ball pretty well and is still young.

Yea but I don't want a slot player... Zay is a slot player. Why can't we have a big stud WR? We do we always have to settle? Those players you've listed are good...if you already have a Stud WR in place...they can complement your receiver core nicely.  But we don't have that in place... I'd rather have DK... get the big, strong, fast guy that can catch & out muscle people for the ball

My point was don't spend money on that position because we have Zay and he's just as good as those other players in free agency but I see major upgrades in the draft starting with Andy and Deebo.

  9. If we learned anything from today's debacle is that the Bills need to draft there own skill players and develop them.  With that being said I want 2 or 3 players from this draft.

I would love to trade bk but if we can't I'll still

    #9 Hockenson

    #40 Harry, Harmon, or Butler

The 3rd move will be to trade up bk into late 2nd and Draft  Andy Isabella.

We come out the draft with these 3 guys that's a haul and we still probably have 2 5s , 6 and 2 7s to add players at other positions.

Right off the bat, let's all agree, Brandon Beane is a brilliant fella.  He never intended to acquire a quitter, headcase, me first WR like AB.  Here's how it went down:

    1) The Steelers knew we are in need of a WR. They set a deadline for teams to make offers by Friday.

    2) Beane calls Steelers on Tuesday to ask "What are you looking for as compensation for the "highly respected" AB. The Steelers make some outrageous demand (ex. a 1st rounder this year and second rounder next year)

    3) Beane says "Hmmm, that sounds pretty reasonable. Let me check with my owner and coach, etc"  Beane hangs up the phone and laughs "This will be fun"

    4) Steelers start talking to other teams but keep Beane in mind. They call Beane back "Have you thought any more about it?"  Beane "Yeah, sure...how about first this year and a fourth next  year?"  Steelers "How about a first and third this year?"  Beane "Let me call you back."  He starts laughing again. No intention of signing AB whatsoever, but knows other teams are now being waved away by Steelers because they are about to get a sweet deal from Bills.

    5) As the other teams walk away from negotiating, the Steelers start to get nervous...they give info to LaConjecture and RapReport.

    6) Beane is busy eating a cob salad when the phone rings. Steelers: "Are we doing this?"  Beane: "Who is this?"

    7) Beane issues statement about what a great player AB is and, unfortunately, they were unable to get a deal done.

Steelers are now left in a bad negotiating position because they spurned several other suitors. AB's price went down all thanks to Brandon Beane and the greatest "catfish" technique we will ever see.

Where's the part of the story when this backfires and he ends up in New England for a 4th Rd pk. Lol

    Good move, adding a Williams!

Maybe it's time to move on from this Williams thing.  I mean really how much did we benefit from this.  Lol. 1 playoff in 12yrs.

Don't get me wrong I respect Kyle and the other Williams that played here but let's not act like these guys are legendary Bills.

Update Depth on Offense: Looks to be a huge upgrade across the board.

    QB: Allen, Barkley, Anderson

    RB: McCoy, Love, Yelden

    FB: Dimarco

WR: Tyrell Williams, Zay Jones. R Foster, D Sills

TE: T.J. Hockenson, Jess James, Croom

OL: Matt Paradis, Daryl Williams, Dawkins, Chris Lindstrom, Kaleb McGary, Long, Miller/Groy/Teller/Mills/Brandon Fanaika

Updated Depth Chart of Defense: Depth across the board.

DT: H Phillips, Jeffery Simmons, Lotulelei, J Phillips

DE: Murphy, Hughes, Anthony Nelson, Lawson, Yarbrough

LB: Milano, Edmunds, Alexander,  T Davis, Sione Takitaki, Lacey

DB: Hyde, Poyer, White, EJ Gaines, Wallace, Johnson, Bush, Blace Brown, /Andrew Wingard

This looks to be a much improved team. Still think we could use an additional WR. But the OL looks much improved and TE position solidified. Love could be a steal at RB.

Looks like a solid 8-9 win team.  At some pt though we need some difference makers.

Anyone with Tyrell Williams high on their wishlist might want to start looking at Plan B. The Colts have more money than the Bills, and there are coaching connections (not to mention an established franchise QB) that might make them a more desirable destination.

    TYRELL WILLIAMS
    WR, LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

    10694.jpg

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Colts are in "strong pursuit" of free agent Tyrell Williams.

La Canfora echoes the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Michael Gehlken's report from last week, saying the Raiders are also courting Williams, who is expected to get $12 million-plus annually. This doesn't sound like a path Colts GM Chris Ballard would typically travel down; he hasn't shown a big belief in building through free agency, and Williams is going to be expensive. But both coach Frank Reich and OC Nick Sirianni know Williams from their Chargers days. Indianapolis does need to do something out wide to take the burden off T.Y. Hilton.

This is great news for us.

Good, I don't want to pay him $12M.  I would MUCH rather sign Humphries.  He may prove worth it, he may not.  I don't want to gamble $12M to find out.  Give me a great slot WR like Humphries for less and then draft our #1 type WR this year in rounds 1 or 2.

I say get your slot in this draft if not Zay is our best bet for that job. Don't waste money on any of these free agent Wrs. The only one I think will be worth a deal is Moncreif and that's all depending on his price. 7mil per for 3yrs is the most I offer him.

Btw there is some great talent at the slot this yr . Players u can possibly get in the 3rd or 4th rds.

    #1 Andy Isabella

    #2 Deebo Samuel

    #3 Parris Campbell

    #4 Terry McLaurin

    # 5 Penny Hart

What is the attraction to this guy? His name? He allowed 34 sacks with a line that has more talent than our own 2018 Oline. He calls the blocking schemes. We allowed the same number of sacks with rookies and a turnstile center pairing. Get off the bandwagon folks. It’s all agent driven.

Paradis missed nearly half the yr plus there was other factors that hurt there Oline O'Leary was injured to.  Btw 34 sacks is not bad to me . That's pretty much middle pack stat plus there run gm averaged well over 4yds a carry even with those factors.

Yea and your probably going to pay double. I'm talking about bringing in Weddle as a 3rd safety for 4-6 million a year. I also said Weddle probably doesn't come here because he will want to be a starter. Are you gonna pay Landon Collins 9 million a year to sit on the bench. Micah Hyde is already our SS you putting him on the bench?

Have u ever heard of Big Nickel Defense? Nobody has to go to bench.

On the Bills’ app Phillips is being interviewed by John Murphy and Tasker under the title “We’re trying to build something great here”. At the 7:10 mark he states that he’s trying to recruit players to come to Buffal but refused to reveal who when asked. Later in the interview, at the 9:10 mark, he says that he has played in the shadows of some great players and mentions Ndamukong Suh in particular. Seeing that Suh is a FA I’m wondering if Phillips has tried to persuade him to come to Buffalo. Also with the expected release of a couple of other ex teammates , Dolphins’ DEs Robert Quinn and Andre Branch,  it wouldn’t surprise me too much if any or a combination of 2 of these 3 show up in Buffalo.

I dont believe he's trying to recruit Suh to come in and start over him.  I'll take Quinn though.

I say why not?  Upgrade from Poyer, nice match with Hyde.

I say keep all 3 go big nickel 80% of snaps. This would give us the ability to be better against what teams are doing these days with all the short quick passing gms. Plus we still can stop the run with these guys out there I say this gives us a massive advantage.
