6'7" and 260 Ibs? Sign me up. Sick of having an undersized, oft injured TE. Clay was only 6'3", basically a heavy, slow WR.

Yea man your right we always have funny looking TEs u remember Derek Schouman? Lol.

Hell YEAH !! Should have drafted him. About time we got serious about this position and still should draft one.

I agree we need to get Hock or Fant in this draft.  I dont care how they do it.  Preferably to trade back out of #9. But if they select another player at #9 then they should trade bk into late first for Fant.

Could not agree more. I'm not opposed but this signing would not bring a bulge to my britches. I understand it's a position of need but I would also take Maxx Williams over James. We definitely need to grab one of the top 3 guys in the draft. Any combo of Williams/ Hock, Fant or Smith would solve our TE problem for many seasons.

Maxx Williams has never done anything in the NFL . JJ has been a much better player.

Yup. Once in a while I’ll turn on WGR but 9 times out of 10 I’m listening to podcasts.

Just google “player fm football podcasts” and you’ll get a link to a bunch of half decent podcasts. I also like the fact that on the podcasts guys can curse a little bit more and be more straightforward with their opinions for the most part.

I do this to my favorite is Joe B and Fairburn.

I don't know why anyone listens to the John Murphy Show.

    It's homer radio.

    Three hours of Bills propaganda.

Except Chris Brown is another paid employee.

So it's powder puff stories about Jason Croom's development, or Alexander's great leadership, or a fire-side chat with Kim Pegula about how much she loves WNY.

None of it translates to any real understanding of the game.

I usually just listen during the off parts of the the offseason when the other shows are mostly talking Sabres . Just want my fix of Bills talk but man I'm thinking about just staying away from here on out. I mean these guys get me nervous sometimes.  Lol. Your absolutely right about Homer radio to.

Well seeing as who he has to play off of i'm thinking that is a severe handicap ! I gave up listening for a while not because of Steve & the last couple of days i went back & listened & it just reconfirmed why i stopped ? !!

Yeah Murphy ain't much better either.  I can't understand why they can't find a couple guys that are better.  They've had Chris Brown on a couple of times and he's much knowledge about the game and not hard to listen to.  Maybe Chris should take over for Tasker if he wants the job.

  6. I like to start off by saying Steve the Task Master Tasker was one of my favorite Bills of all time and I truly believe he should one day be in the Hof.  But is this guy horrible on the radio or what . It's borderline hate at this point with me listening to this guy. He doesn't have a clue what he's talking about half the time.  Seems not to take his job seriously as if he's just winging it on a daily basis. Doesn't have a feel for the draft prospects coming out or even for players around the NFL. I hope he leaves the job soon because he's just brutal.  I mean he makes miss Donald Jones. . Mistake after mistake this guy makes every show. It's obvious this guy has this career based on the type of player he was in the NFL because if any other of us was this bad at our jobs we would be fired and living on the streets, lol. Does anyone else here hate Steve Tasker. Lol.

Just going off what we’ve seen with this management and coaching staff put together in terms of the “character” players, etc. just wondering if anyone has noticed guys that seem to be “McBeane” character guys. Last year I saw Harrison Phillips as such an obvious one for us. And sure enough it ended up happening ( I thought Phillips was going to go round 2, but they did well and got him in the 3rd).

my guys so far this year...

OL- Dalton Risner- Kansas St. - Was at the senior bowl. Check. Played tackle guard and center, so versatile. Check. Buddies with Harrison Phillips and spoke about how he’d be happy if he was selected by the Bills (I don’t have a link but read the quote somewhere when they interviewed him at the senior bowl). Check. Blue collar type of guy with no off-field red flags... check check check.

I see Buffalo looking for Risner in the 2nd Round, moving up if they feel necessary.

DT- Christian Wilkins- Clemson - Also a Senior. Check. Said to have a non-stop motor. Check.

    Leadership? Unquestioned. Check.

John Ledyard from The Draft Network on Wilkins:

Toughness, leadership and effort can’t be questioned. Hard-working on and off the field and described as a rare personality and leader at the college level”

If Buffalo has to stay at 9, I could see him being an option. I could also see him being an option if they manage to get two offensive linemen and sign a Tyrell Williams or Golden Tate. Or if they move down and manage to have two 1st Round Picks (Via Raiders).

Anyone else have anyone they’d like to add?

We're do we expect to go with Ty Williams and Golden Tate as our wrs? I rather flip your plan use the money on oline and skill position in draft.

  8. If this trade was available to the Bills they should do it.  McCoy is finished and needs to be traded or even released.  He alluded contact last yr and that's a major sign of a RB in decline. He also didn't seem to have that burst to get around the corner on a consistent basis. I realize our oline was bad but they weren't this bad . McCoy in his prime would of had easy 1200 yds behind those guys.

Many recievers seem to do well with one kind of qb and i think Allen and Mckenzie might be that kind of duo. Very limited time together but i liked what i saw compared to higher priced offensive players.

I hope the Bills go into this off-season as if they don't have a depth chart for the Wrs on this team. We need to add at least 3 more guys.  Then let camp and preseason decide where they are on the chart . McKenzie can be part of the competition but that's about it .

I was all for Brown with our pick in the first....until now.  He was projected to run high 4.2 to low 4.3 as well.  Certain things you don't mess with....feet, hamstrings, groin.  Those always seem to lead to repeat injuries down the road.  Not even considering him before the 3rd anymore.

He's definitely worth a 3rd even if he red shirts his rookie yr.

The OC calls a passing play.  The QB has the ball in his hands and needs to do something to help his team.  The question shouldn't be "How often did he throw the ball and for how many yards?"  It should be "What was the ratio of good outcomes to bad ones?"

For dual threat QBs, looking solely at comp%, yards and TD pass/Int ratio is only a partial analysis.  I read that Josh averaged over 10 yards on runs that started as pass plays.  If true, that is a huge number--a number bigger than any QB averaged per pass attempt.  It would be poor work to ignore this production in any comprehensive assessment of JA's rookie performance.  Many scrambling QBs also take more sacks and commit more turnovers as a result.  Apparently, not so for Josh.

I agree with u to an extent but u have to realize the scrambles are not sustainable.  Defenses will adjust to what Allen does best this off-season that's why it's imperative he adjusts his game and works on his weaknesses.

In other words a QB is only as good as he is at his weaknesses because sooner or later that's all defenses are gonna give him.

Bills are definitely drafting a TE early. Good thing it's the best TE draft in at least a decade.

Gonna be hard to beat the Kittle, Engram, Howard draft. We still got some other guys from that draft that have big potential like Everett from the Rams and Junnu Smith from Tenn.

with the exception ONLY of short yardage 3rd/4th down or goal line instances.

Although there's so much of a "Carolina connection" going here between Buffalo and the Panthers, one of the things I really hope to see McDermott and Daboll do opposite from Carolina is designed QB runs.

Cam Newton in Carolina has gained the vast majority of his rushing yards on the ground in designed running situations.  He's also the shell of his former physical self and he's not even 30 yet.

The guy is going into the age considered "prime" for NFL QBs and he might already be over-the-hill.

Designed QB runs like Read Options just ask for your QB to take hits.  They're almost inevitable in these cases.

But regardless, at least as far as the Josh Allen led Buffalo Bills of 2018 are concerned, they weren't effective at all unless we're talking those short yardage instances I mentioned at the top.

Josh Allen 2018 Designed Run stats

    2.9 Yards Per Carry

    (38 Designed Runs, 112 yards, 3 TDs)

Before you assume I'm saying Allen shouldn't run or Daboll should make sure he never runs, I'm not saying that.

Allen should still be encouraged to run in the context of passing plays when they call for it.  When pressure comes quickly or his WRs/TEs/RBs are blanketed or there's just a wide open running lane for him, he should run and avoid big hits by sliding or running out of bounds.  He got much smarter with his running last year in terms of taking those unnecessary hits.

He shouldn't always be scrambling, but if Allen gains 400-500 +/- yards through a 16 game season with his legs through scrambling, I think that's a good supplement to our offense.  Besides, in 2018, Allen was so amazing running on designed passing plays that he gained significantly more on average than he would have just staying in the pocket passing the football:

    Josh Allen 2018 Scramble stats

    11.7 Yards Per Carry

    (45 scrambles, 525 yards, 5 TDs)

(Those of you scratching your heads wondering why those numbers don't add up to his run totals on the year, it's because I discarded the 6 kneeldowns and -6 rushing yards from those kneeldowns he had in the Jags game, Detroit game, and 2nd Miami game.  Also, I had posted some numbers on here before that were different because I just realized today that I hadn't gone through the last game of the season, yet, where Allen scrambled 5 times for 103 yards and 1 TD.)

So even though the NFL seems to be bringing the Read-Option back and Allen is a serious running threat, using him intentionally as part of our designed running game is just a bad idea, so let's hope Daboll doesn't go that route.

I've been screaming from the roof tops about this all offseason.  I can't stand that play it makes me cringe.  The only time we should use designed runs is when teams least expect in late gm situations against certain types of Defenses.

I don’t have anything against Monos, but he’s no longer working in the NFL. Not sure if by choice but doesn’t appear he’s viewed as an excellent player personnel director.

Obviously the NFL is more of who u know type of league rather then who's the best for the job type of league.  Guys like to hire there guys. There's no doubt Monos did better with peanuts compared to what Beane personal guy I believe it's Dan Morgan has done with bout 33mil in Cap space last yr.  Not to mention when we broke the drought technically it was done in help with Monos type guys. U can say all u want that McD picked these guys but the DPP Monos brought them to his desk.

Monos was a good scout. He was working with Whaley for the NFLPA Bowl... don't know if he has followed him to the XFL?

That said Beane has a really excellent front office staff.

Yet to be proven how good his player personnel staff is. I'm hoping they are great but so far I haven't been impressed with what they did last yr. Hopefully this off-season they do a great job.

I ask this on the heels of Jay Glazer predicting the Giants trading him. At first one would think no way but after thinking about it it could be a possibility that would make sense for both franchises. I’m gonna list some bullet points.

    1. Both GMs have a congenial relationship.

    2. The Giants with 2 top ten 1st rd picks would allow them to draft their future franchise b whoever that may be.

    3. It’s no secret that the Bills are in need for a big time WR and OBJ just might be the best in the game.

    4. The Bills have the resources to cough up a contract of this magnitude.

    5. There is plenty of OL in FA, probably our biggest need, available.

    6. It’s not uncommon to find good OL in the 2nd rd and after. Matter of fact more times than not OL in the 1st rd usually turn out average at best.

    7. Our defense is pretty good as of now but any added pieces can and will be addressed in FA and the draft.

    8. OBJ just might be the straw that stirs the drink and makes everything else perform more efficiently.

I’m sure that I’m gonna get destroyed over this but Beane has proven that he is not intimidated to make big time decisions.

If OBJ has shown the ability to stay healthy I say why not the fact is he's been hurt alot these last 2yrs and he doesn't fit the process.

I believe the Giants know something about OBJ . Any team trying to trade for him can be getting damaged goods.

How could Beane draft OBJ over Watkins when that was 3 years before he joined the Bills?  Lmao

How many more things before Beanes tenure here are people going to pin on him?  Bad enough people blame him for Woods and Mahomes, both things that were before he was a Bill.  Now Sammy over  OBJ? Haha

Well if he gonna get credit for Tre White,  Dawkins, Milano , Poyer & Hyde then go figure,  lol.

So I guess you don't like Poyer and Hyde.

Beane signed Poyer and Hyde I must be mistaken. Nope I'm not it was Whaley and his staff.

Mcd should of kept Monos and Shepherd on the staff those guys knew some talent. Monos was excellent player personnel director. With Monos ability to find talent in free agency and Beane draft and un drafted skills would be a great combo.
