Ed Oliver. We could line him up anywhere along the DL and let him wreak havoc.  Impact player.

No chance Bosa, Q Williams or Josh Allen will be there.

Anyone else isnt worth not trading down for ino.  The tackle options are solid, yet wouldn’t be BPA imo.  The DTs other than Oliver are good but not spectacular in my current opinion.  Ferrell could be the only other guy I could get excited about but would still rather trade down.  Devin Bush or Devin White?  Great player but plays a position I think we may be set in.  Unless they wanted the luxury of playing Edmunds at SLB and Bush/white ILB, Milano WLB.  Ehhh.

Is there just ONE guy that you’re focusing on and hope that we get?

I don't think Oliver will be available at #9 . I see Tampa at #5 being his spot.

Metcalf at #9 Isabella at #40, Grab 3 Top Oline(overpay if you have to),Grab a RB somewhere in the draft, And the Offence will be top 10 next year.

Why wait till Round 3 for Isabella?  The kid is small so what, he looks durable and strong. How can a defence account for the speed of Metcalf, Foster, and Isabella? Hell throw Shady in that mix. If the Oline is fixed in FA this team gets to 10 wins.

    Metcalf #9

    Fant or Irv @40

    Trade bk into late 2nd

    Isabella

In most cases a blocking TE is considered a 6th, 7th or an 8th OL. Seeing how OL is an area of concern for the Bills I’m wondering if securing a couple of TEs in FA would help in several different ways.

    1. We need TEs period.

    2. Help fortify the OL.

    3. Provide more leniency for the Bills in the draft. Meaning not only they really won’t have to address the TE in the draft.

    4. It also allows the Bills not to be forced to take an OL early, especially at the RT position. If they did take an OL with the 9th overall pick then I hope they take Jawaan Taylor, I like his demeanor. This will also allow the Bills to take a top defensive player with their first pick, hopefully an edge rusher.

Now for the 2 that I would like for the Bills to secure in FA is first Jesse James and then the Ravens Nick Boyle. Both are excellent blockers and James has better than average pass catching ability. If like redemption type players then I would like the Bills to consider Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Good player, great story, put him on a 1 year prove it deal with incentives and the Bills just might find themselves a real sleeper. Btw, I want to give a shout out to Jason Crooms, I think that he’s a very good young player that is going to play an integral part for the Bills for years to come.

I like the concept of this, adding some good blocking TEs to help out on the OL, affording the luxury for the Bills to address other bigger areas of need.

Why don't we just sign 2 big free agent offensive lineman. Trent Brown & Roger Saffold will go along way to helping this team open up running lanes and giving Allen time to throw.

No doubt we need 2 TEs but 1 should be a high draft pk and other via free agency.  Hock fits your theory like a glove this guy's pancakes DEs and runs routes with ease.

Hock would be a great pick later in the first...cut from the same cloth as Isabella where heart and character is concerned ?

My dream is we get both.

Hock is the Quentin Nelson of this draft. He's a game changer , he's like a extra lineman in the run gm and he's a weapon in the passing gm. Everyone looking for the next Q Nelson on the line this yr but they're is none . The player everyone will want next yrs draft is the next Hock. Every yr is a different theme can't be looking for last yrs story got to find the new .

There are other people who do what he does, but they don't make what he does.  There's not even an upside to the contract, it started out bad and can only get worse.  Isn't he our highest paid player this year? You can't play role players like that!  A couple more contracts like his and we'll be headed for another cap hell repeat of this year.

Yea u can't pay a guy 10+ mil per yr to play less then 40% of snaps. Run stuffers are easy to find . Star contract is a horrible deal.

  6. I've been telling some posters here this very same thing N'Keal will go after 1st. Matter of fact there probably only be 1 maybe 2 first rd wrs this yr.  There's really good depth at the position but no bona-fide star projected players which will lead to teams tending to more pressing needs in the first rd knowing in the 2nd they can get a comparable player at Wr. Look for there to be a run in the 2nd rd for guys like Hakeem,  Harmon,  N'Keal and others.

Funchess is not the answer to any of the Bill's needs.  We should not be wasting any of the 90 camp roster spots on him.  There is enough tape on Funchess to know what he is.  I'd rather see an UFA WR in camp to see if we can hit on another guy like Foster.  I agree that the money would be better spent on Morse or T. Williams.  I really think that Williams is the kind of receiver that the Bills should be looking for.  He has length and speed to stretch the field.

Moncreif would be my choice of free agent Wrs he's not gonna cost a ton maybe 3 yrs 20 to 21 mil gets him. Plus he's entering his prime at 25yrs old was actually pretty good considering he had a bunch of scrubs throwing him the ball last yr. Nearly 700 yds on 60 catches. He got a nice gm Foster is alot like Moncreif why not have 2 guys like that.

In the draft i really want Isabella in the 3rd rd if we can get him there.  I might sound crazy but he reminds me of Antionio Brown kid is a jitterbug on the field knows how to get open .

Bills met with him today (the only RB we know of)... which may be meaningless but it’s got people talking that he may be a good choice because he can “redshirt” behind Shady (tore his ACL late in the year).

I actually have never wanted to draft him.

    He’s referring to Shady ...

I would love him in the 6th or 7th rd.

I think Saffold is better than mediocre. I think he is a solid vet. But he isn't my preferred choice because he isn't a guy who I think is every going to totally dominate. Mediocre is DJ Fluker who was offered here as a suggestion yesterday. I am definitely not up for that!

Saffold scored a 72.8 according to PFF rankings good for #9 at his position in NFL. That's out 64 or more guys that played guard.

  10. BTW I can't see a better fit in this draft for the Bills then TJ Hockenson. He kills 3 birds with 1stone.

#1 - Can block like an animal both in pass pro and especially in run gm. This kid pancakes DE'S on the regular.

    # 2 - An automatic mismatch in the passing gm. He's a fantastic route runner with great hands.

#3- Culture, Process fit. This kid is an high energy football junkie. He lives bleeds football 24/7 . I can see him growing into a great leader. He has that same passion that Josh displays on the field and I would bet that these 2 will grow into an awesome combo on and off the field.

I have said it more then once. The skill position players in FA do nothing for me and the college lineman are not being developed properly. Fix the lines in FA and draft nothing but skill players.

This can not be stressed enough and let's hope and pray that our front office knows this.  Use mid to late rds pks on O-Line that can be developed in time but for now let's add 3 guys in free agency.

Earlier in that game, the Titans missed a field goal attempt, and we got called for defensive holding.  On a field goal attempt.  A little later they make a field goal.  I don't remember the exact details.....except.....

Defensive holding on a field goal attempt.

We definitely didn't get the Patriots love in those yrs.

Of course you do Bill... take the Crimson tinted glasses off my old friend. I don't think he looked 'very good' last year. He was blown up consistently in the run game where he just does not anchor well enough and gets forced back early. He was passable. Less of disaster zone than in his year with the Giants but not very good. I'm not against bringing him in as competition but I'm not convinced he'd beat out Wyatt Teller and I am pretty sure he wouldn't beat out Spencer Long. Giving Fluker a 3 year deal for $20m when he played for $3m in his one year (which was an utter disaster) in New York and then $1.5m in his one year (that was a little better) in Seattle would be utter, unadulterated madness.

Not sure your right bout this DJ played very well last he was a big part of that #1 ranked rushing offense Seattle had for most of the yr. 6.5 mil per yr is nothing nowadays for a solid starting gaurd.

Misleading thread title - I thought this was about Mike Mayock!

    (totally just kidding)

As for the OP - I am absolutely NOT willing to pass judgement on the talent of the OL until I see them coached by someone other than Juan Castillo.

Sure we could add 2-3 but wholesale replacing all 5 of them is just silly.

I got Dawkins at starting  LG. But at the same time he's the bkup left tackle in case of injury because I got Teller and Long coming off the bench first in case of injury those guys will replace Dawkins at LG while he kicks over to LT. I actually thought that was very smart thing to do having flexibility.

Thank you so much for this. I thought that I was the only one here who wants him at RG for the Buffalo Bills.

Again, I believe that he has been hampered by injuries but last season he looked very good imo. He is an extremely hard worker and is probably one of the strongest players in the league. DJ played RT in college and if healthy, he will be a road grader. He is also a leader.

A player like him can make a difference if he clicks and is certainly worth offering a contract to.

If any part of my plan happens I hope it's at least 3 guys from the Oline . Especially Fluker at RG he played very well last yr seems like he has finally developed.

So you would take a 33 year old journeyman backup swing tackle give him 3 years and $20m and make him your starting left tackle?

    I stopped reading there.

GunnerBill u should do some research before u talk . Neshke will be steal for whatever team gets him.  The Skins gave him a 2nd rd tender last yr for a reason and the guy has played very good football when given a chance. Yes 33yrs old but doesn't have the wear and tear of others that age. This guy will be a starter for some team next yr at LT and he can easily play another 3yrs up until he's 35.

The fact that you would consider Jordan or White makes the whole plan suspect.  They are not worth even a min contract with no guaranteed $.  They would prevent a long shot from making the team and I would rather have the long shot on the 90.

No need to make Dawkins a sub - keep him at T or if you get 2 good Tackles (doubtful) then move him to Guard.  Do not move him to the bench.

Jarrett will go for much more than you are calculating.

Risner, Smith and Fant will not last that deep in round 2.  Most likely all 1st round and early 2nd round.

If I add right this adds up to ~ $85 million per year without cap benefits of spreading the bonus.  Add another $6M for rookies and the cap is mostly consumed.  Not necessarily a bad thing but I am not sure the players added will deliver the result required for the cash spent.  Overall alot of thought but see none or very little of this coming to pass.

I have Dawkins as a starting LG and the bkup LT.
