I think Hockenson has process written all over him.
Im fine with Hockenson and Tillery or Oliver and Smith Jr in the first two rounds.
How bout Hock & Simmons. I think this might be one of my favorite scenarios.

We've "won the offseason" a few times before only to be disappointed when the season came. Let's hope it's different this time around. I'm pretty optimistic.
We sure did and a few times the injury bug hit us very hard the same yr.

Hock looks like he'll be an elite tight end for a long time.
The thing that puts him over the top, in my opinion, is his insane blocking ability. Everyone knows he can attack the seam, catch the ball, and be a star in that regard. But the way that he absolutely BURIES people in the run game or as a pass blocker is insane. Not sure I've ever seen a TIGHT END pancake as many people as Hockeson has. Not only that, he LOVES to block. Loves it.
So if you draft Hockenson, you're not only getting a great, young target for your quarterback, you're also getting a next-level blocker in the run and pass game.
As for the notion of "When was the last time an elite NFL tight end was drafted in the 1st round?", I'd say this: If Gronkowski and Kelce and Ertz in their primes were all available in this year's draft, does anyone have any doubt that they'd all be picked in the 1st round? Look at the value that Gronk has added to NE, Kelce has added to KC, and Ertz has added to Philly. Is anyone REALLY going to say that those contributions aren't worth a 1st round pick?
Gronk and Kelce would top 3 in this draft no doubt . Ertz top 15

It's funny how two-days can totally change the mentality around about McBeane.
I'll be honest I was hard on Beane the first 2yrs but now I'm growing to love the guy. But the hardest work is ahead adding game changers is basically what's left to do when it comes to building this team.

I would not be upset if we went with Hock at 9 but I am weary. TJ rose up the boards after the combine because of his workout times which always scares me. Fant is the player that I would prefer because he has proven himself on the field. If DK and TJ are both examples of guys who shoot up the board because of their athleticism, not their production on the field. Give me a DL at 9
TJ Hockenson did played great last yr he's not just a combine workout warrior. He's a balanced TE that can pancake a DE on one play and the next stretch the seem and score a TD . Not only that there's huge value in his blocking after one of our wrs make a catch he can be the difference between them getting a first down by an inch or a TD. There's a ton of value in today's NFL for a TE like Hock.

The question is if these guys go before we pk who would u rather have.
#1 Cards Murray
#2 49ers Bosa
#3 Jets Allen
#4 Raiders Quinnen
#5 Bucs Sweat
#6 Giants Oliver
#7 Jags DK
#8 Lions Taylor
Now we got Gary, Wilkins or Hock on the board. I got Hock as the best player available. He's the more sure thing to me out of these 3 players to be a bona-fide game changer at his position. Let's not forget we are modeling our offense after the Pat's and we are missing that elite TE.

With all the recent signings, I don’t see 10 draft picks making the team so I think they are going to be wheeling and dealing moving up where needed to get the guy they want. TE, DT and big WR are biggest needs with depth picks elsewhere.
I think the best possible move up will be either from 2nd to late first for either Hock or Fant or from 3rd to 2nd for a Wr that's falling .

I'm beyond happy with who the Bills have gotten so far and think we've put ourselves in great shape for the draft. I think they need to roll some money over to re-sign our own guys next year, but I would still like to see them spend a little. With that, I think there are three positions that can really put us over the top.
1 - OT - There's two guys that could go at 9. Only one of them is projected to be able to play LT. If we could get him, kick Dawkins to LG, then the other FA's start, our offensive line would be a force.
2 - Ed Oliver - This one is hard for me as McDermott is heavy on rotation. But his pass rush ability up the middle (just for your Marsha) would fill out the line nicely
3 - Josh Allen - I wasn't on board before, but I can't help but think about it now. He's a monster in both pass rush and coverage. With the QB's heating up, I could see him dropping to 4th or 5th. That's not a crazy jump forward. Imagine Allen, Milano, and Edmunds for the next 10 years.
I wish there were some guys left in FA that could take one of these positions off the board, but there aren't any studs left. Starters that are serviceable? Yes. If the Bills could pull off a trade where they got their edge rusher while keeping the #9, that would be amazing.
I also still want one of the Iowa TE's and Jarek Cook somehow.
Damn this is all exciting.
BPA at positions of difference makers that's were we got to go now. Either DT3, DE, TE or WR. I think most here would love to trade bk and get Hock but if we can't just take the best player at these positions on there board.
The way Beane set us up here is exactly for the draft. We have added most of the complementary pieces on offense and defense now we need the true game breakers. Game breakers usually come thru the draft if u look at nearly every sport that's usually the case.
I think the Bills should finish this offense if DK is there take him and then do there best to trade up bk into lower 20s before the Raiders are on the board at 24 to get either Hock or Fant. Even if we have to give up or 2,3 & 4 that's fine because the offense will have gotten it's final pieces of the puzzle.
Wrs
DK Metcalf
Foster
Brown
Beasley
Zay
Duke
Robert's
TEs
Hock or Fant
Kroft
Croom
Add another blocker
If we get this done and draft a lineman or 2 to develop for the future this can be the start of a Superbowl caliber offense. Now some might say how bout the D? Well we had the #2 ranked defense last yr so we can push next yrs draft to load up on that side of the ball plus we will have nearly 90mil in cap space.
Another thing we should do now is go get us some mercenaries for this defense offer Suh and Houston 1yr guarantee deals. Maybe 12mil a piece. Imagine what our rotation would be on that dline . This team would be ready to compete for deep playoffs run right now. I'm hoping the Bills attack the rest of the offseason like this.

So, I love the John Brown and Cole Beasley signings. I think it compliments our current WR's and I also feel it spells the end of Mr. Unreliable, Zay "Hands of Stone" Jones. But lest we forget our own version of DK Metcalf who is already signed, sealed and delivered.....Duke Williams. What say you?
U could of said our version of N'Keal Harry.?

We should sign Justin Houston and then wait for the dust to settle and pk up some additional depth players.

i changed my mind already. He is our starting LT. Dawkins is going back to RT where we drafted him.
morse at center , long, teller and bodine battle for the 2 guard spots.. loser of long , bodine is backup Center
Trying to figure out this Oline combo is like trying to figure out the Morse Code, OH wait a minute ?

Seems like we are building a nice core of youthful players and we have complemented them well during free agency. Now we need the difference makers to come via the draft at difference maker positions.

DT3
TE

The only signing I'm not exactly crazy about is Beasley . I thought we should of targeted a slot in the draft. It's the best yr for slots probably the best ever. Hopefully we still draft one of them.

I can’t remember one. Been a fan for 35 years. We have had single players like B Paup and M Williams who were single big signings. But nothing like this volume. Can people now see the process?
My favorite free agent class ever 1995
Bryce Paup
Chris Speilman
Teddy Washington

Now that McBeane put this team in a position to truly go BPA in the draft the possibilities are endless maybe we go
#9 DE-Sweat
#40 DT3-Simmons
#74 Wrs Whiteside or Preston Williams or trade bk into 2nd for TE Irv Smith.
The point is we can go basically any direction and what McBeane has been able to do these 2 days can really help us in the future. It's great to not have our backs against the wall or to be counting on rookies to make a difference for us in yr1 . Draft pks are supposed to be players developed for the future and now we can truly take players and develop them properly without the pressures of needing them to play right away. Look for the Bills to target difference maker prospects at difference maker positions in this draft. DE, DT, TE, XWR.
Now let's turn our attention to the Growth from within the draft classes of 2017 & 18 are really gonna make or break us this coming season . These guys are all young vets now and I expect some of them to really step up and be a big part of the core of this team . The development of these players will be a big part of this teams success if we are able to get into the playoffs next yr. I realize some of these guys are already a big part of our core but who will surprise? who will become elite and who will fall from the map?
2017
Tre White
Zay
Dawkins
Milano
2018
Allen
Edmunds
Harrison
Taron
Teller
Foster

imagine if the bills get daryl williams now
Let's imagine that
LT Neshke
LG Dawkins
C Morse
RG Mongo, Long or Teller
RT Williams
This is the best case scenario in my opinion. Dawkins can be a pro bowl level guard. I dont think it's the best line in the league but definitely can be top 10.

The Bills gonna put those brand new Sleep incubators to the test this off-season. We got alot of healing to do. I hope they ordered at least 53 of them.

I'd like to see a G or edge guy still brought in. But with remaining dollars I'd like to see some extensions, in particular for Hyde and Poyer. They make an excellent tandem and extending them now would be a move that would help keep our D solid. I'd even consider doing Tradaveous or Milano now. Certainly nextyear though on them given they'll have around 100 million in space
I don't think Milano or Tre can't extend till after next season.
I would like to see some 1yr deals now for players like Ansah or someone else of his caliber. They have good yrs and we lose them we can start getting comp pks.

I think they'll play around with the lineup and definitely add some more pieces, but from what I have read I would not be shocked to see him at LT sometime in the near future. At very least this is flexibility in case Dion can't get back to form after a meh year. We're essentially paying a starting LT (or at least one that could be) a swing tackle salary. I love it.
Also, the argument "he's never been a starter" or "he's always been passed over" is one of the silliest arguments in the NFL.
Let's just hope that Dawkins comes in ready to go and get bk to form and even better.

This signing tells me the bills are drafting an offensive lineman Greg little or Jonah Williams probaly
OR maybe a David Edward's from Wisconsin in the 3rd . He's a converted TE but is a mualer just needs a 1yr or 2 of development.

Holy crap that's awful. Oh my. I'm not usually an overreaction guy, but this is a league minimum guy imo. Maybe I'm wrong.
Your horribly wrong this guy can play. Best value signing of the year book it. I've been calling this guy to us all off-season. I even put up a post about him this morning. This guy is the process . He fits in the Hyde/Poyer mold. Good move Beane.

I think the Beasley move was one to many. Should of saved the slot for the draft. I think this is the best draft ever for slot Wrs.

Not to hijack this thread, but with the cash strapped Raiders - There is no way they could pay 2nd contracts to 3 1st round picks in this draft (provided they actually hit on all 3)
They won't be cash straped for long . Vegas gonna load them up with Cash.

I think u might have this all wrong. U don't draft run stuffing Dlineman in the first rd. U draft pass rushing Dlineman in the first. U want a run stuffer go sign Danny Shelton or any other dime a dozen run staffers on the street.
