In an article today from Buffalo Rumblings, a salient point was made regarding Beane's continued witchery (link at bottom if the post). In it, Matt Warren notes that the Baltimore Ravens received a 4th round pick for Joe Flacco. We all know that Beane wrangled a 3rd rounder from the Browns for Tyrod.

But if you break it down, the pick we got from the Browns was at least 40 spots higher (this is BEFORE compensatory picks are revealed) than the pick the Ravens received for Flacco.

If you think what Beane pulled off was a bad move, in light of those numbers, you either:

    1) Are a Pat***** troll

    2) Failed Kindergarten math

    3) Take Hatorade, introveniously

Maybe we aren't the worst... maybe we sometimes make good moves. Maybe it's time to start to Billeve!

Let's just wish and pray our front office can one day be compared to the Ravens. Eric Decosta will be a great GM.  I realize Newsome just left but Decosta was a big part of there success during these last two 15yrs .

Except Beane's not graded on how well he does on individual trades, even though everyone wants to declare victory immediately on moves these days.

Beane is graded on building a roster, and through 2 off-seasons he and McCoach have a far from finished product ready to compete and win championships.

You can take your individual trade victories, but over the long haul it doesn't matter.

Beane has also been horrible in unrestricted free agency.

Disagree.  Mack didn't help them when it mattered most, advancing in the Playoffs.

Our achilles heal was NOT our D, it was the lack of talent on offense.  Our D was #2 in the league, and we dont just add Macks sacks to our sack total and assume all the Bills sacks still happen on top of Macks.  Thats not how it works.

More importantly, lets say we did have 15 additional sacks.  How does that translate to 3 to 4 more wins?  Thats not even one more negative play per game.  Sacks are over rated stat, yes its key to bring pressure, but that sack is literally one play.  And in a 16 game season, you are talking about less than 1 more per game.  Yet we weren't losing because we didn't sack the QB one more time per game, we were losing because we were not scoring enough points.

Mack is a great player, but he didn't help the Raiders win, and while he had an impact for the Bears, the offense still failed to advance the team.  We need to invest those 2 first round picks in bringing balance to this team in getting our offense up to par.  Not taking a strong unit already and making it a little bit stronger.

So love Mack, but I am glad we did NOT trade 2 firsts for him.  We have a ton of young talent on our D, its an ascending until already...spend the money and picks on helping the complete lack of talent around Josh on the offense.  Then use the cap space not used on Mack to keep our young players in the next few years.

It ain't just about sacks it's more about pressure and causing turnovers. We lost a few close gms that could of gone are way with Mack on our team.  I never said u add his sacks to our total either. With Mack and Hughes on opposite sides the Bills could easily gotten 50 as a team.

Cam Newton, over his career, averages 3581 passing yards; 23 passing TD; 601 rushing yards; 7 rushing TD per year.

He's also missed only five games in 8 full seasons.  That means in the 135 games (I included the 7 playoff games) the Panthers have played since 2011 (Cam's rookie season), Cam has played in 96% of them.

I'll take those kinds of stats out of Josh Allen ANY DAY.

Those are not the type of stats I want my Franchise QB to have there nice for fantasy football but for winning Superbowls not so nice. We as Bills fans need to want more then this from Allen.

If u just look at the passing numbers they indicate a middle of the pack QB. I'm sorry I want more then a Cam Newton out of Allen. Allen has potential to be a 4500 yds 35 plus td machine.

BTW u see Newton towards the end of the yr. He looked like a broken version of himself.  The Panthers have run him into the ground. I dont see him playing at the level he has played at for more then another 3yrs or less. Newton won't be a star QB unless he reinvents himself and becomes a more passes first and only QB. Like I said those numbers are good for fantasy for but not for dominance and longevity at his position.

Bills didn’t make the top 5...

    6. BUFFALO BILLS

2018 RECORD: 6–10 | PRIMARY NEED: MOBILE GUARD / MOBILE CENTER | CAP SPACE: $79 MILLION

The Bills must use their big, strong, swift QB, Josh Allen, on designed runs behind man-to-man blocking (similar to the ways the Panthers deploy Cam Newton). Success there starts with a mobile guard. Buffalo must find one who can pull-block across the formation, lending dimension to power runs and counters, as well as to play-action passes—tactics that best benefit Allen.

Best potential free agent signing: Mitch Morse, Chiefs

The thought of using Allen like Cam makes me absolutely sick.  Can we be original for once ? Damn this infatuation with Carolina has gotten to far.

The thought of Allen running sweeps and draws into the the defense is not good for his longevity at his position.  If McBeane doesn't develop this kid into a consistent pocket passer that can scramble for chunk yards when need be then they have not done there jobs and they will deserve to get fired as soon as 2020.

Why would the Raiders care if Mack was on the Bills?  How would that hurt them?

Mack would not have made the Browns a SB this year.  Bears are better overall and they were not a serious contender this past season, it turns out.

I disagree I think u add Mack to Browns there much better then Mack on Bears. Imagine Garrett and Mack coming at u ? Plus Mayfield to me is light yrs ahead of Trubisky as a QB.

    20 minutes ago, Albany,n.y. said:

One thing the OP has forgotten: At the time of the trade from Oakland to Chicago, the Bills were thinking they could have one of the worst teams in the NFL, while the Bears were thinking they could be a playoff contender with Mack.  What that means is the Bears believed they'd be offering the Raiders lower 1st round picks.  The Bills, on the other hand had serious deficiencies on offense & couldn't afford to risk what could be a top 5 pick, maybe even the #1 pick this year & another 1st rounder next year to get Mack.  As it turned out the Bears were who they thought they were & ended up in the playoffs, the Bills actually overachieved to get 6 wins and the 9th pick.  If the Bills had ended up with a top 5 pick or the top pick they would have been in a great spot to trade down for some serious picks, at 9 not so much.  So now the risk doesn't appear to be as severe, but at the time of the trade, the idea of giving up this year's #1 was viewed as too much for any one player who would do nothing to fill the serious voids on offense.

Another miscalculation by our front office coaching staff not knowing what they have was better then the worse start team in the league.

They offered a 1st and a 2nd but we're willing to increase the offer . We don't know what that increase was. U might be right but if the Raiders were listening to offers as long as u give them more then the Bears u will have a great chance of landing him.

BTW Khalil Mack had a big say in were he was landing because of the willingness to sign a longterm deal. Maybe he wasn't interested in playing for the Jets.

Defense isn't the weakness on this team.

It's not a difference maker group. Mack would add that element.  We're talking more hurries, sacks, picks & fumbles he's an absolute game wreaker.

My top 8 edge rushers all had double digit sacks in 2018.

Most of these interior players don't even have 10 career sacks in college.  The outside guys there stats are nothing special.  I just don't see special players Polite not special, Ferrell & Sweat i would stay away from these prospects.

The Bills tried to trade for Mack. The Raiders wanted to trade him out of conference.

Idk if this is true. I'm thinking the Bills offered 1 first and maybe a 2nd but they didn't offer 2 firsts . Conference or not the Raiders known we were worse then the Bears.

  8. Me and a group of my friends play a gm every year in the draft.  We all do a mock has to be turned in on the Monday before the draft. I usually hit on 6 to 7 exact spots. We also have a scoring system in place based on if u get the position the team drafts correctly or if u can predict a trade . It makes the draft like your playing Fantasy football it's very entertaining.  We also grade the top draft gurus out there like the Mayocks, Kipers and McShay . Nearly half of the people playing this gm usually outscore these guys.

Scoring system for 1st Rd Mock Draft Game.

5pts - Predict Player in spot with Trade teams need to be picked exactly.

4pts- Predict player in exact draft slot with exact team

3pts - Player goes in draft slot doesn't matter if u get the team right.

2pts- Team drafts the position correctly that u predicted . This shows u can correctly predict team needs.

1pt - For each player u have going in the first rd. This is totaled up after the completion of the first rd.  U get 24 players u get 24 out of 32 Pts.

  9. When u have a great player like this that wants to be in Buffalo wants to play for Buffalo and all it takes was 2 first rd pks and some cap space . Man we made a huge mistake not trading for Khalil .  Now we might spend this first on a DE that can't even play in the NFL. This class of DE's especially the ones projected to be on the board at #9 is not very good in my opinion.

Just to think our defense finished #2 in the NFL but we only had 26 sacks on the season. Had we made that trade I think we had 50sks on the season and probably would of won 9 if not 10gms last yr.

I realize Beane wants to build threw the draft but trading for Mack could of opened many doors for us especially in free agency.  I really believe players would look at the Bills as a prime destination.  We still would probably have close to 70mil to fill the holes. I'm pretty sure the Bills kicked the tires on Mack but weren't ready to pay the draft compensation required by the Raiders.

Looking back man I wish we traded for Mack.

I'm actually fine with them signing Funchess AS LONG AS they don't count on him to be the #1 or #2 receiver. Funchess is an 800-yards-per-year guy. That's a guy that can help your team.

If they were to sign Funchess to a reasonable contract but then also spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on WR, would it bother you?

    Rookie
    Foster
    Jones
    Funchess
    Duke Williams
    McKenzie

That's a pretty promising WR depth chart

The problem is they would sell him to the fans as a #1. I could just see Beane now making the comparisons to Anquan Bolden. Lol. I still can't believe he tried to sell Bolden like he was 26yrs old and in his prime when we signed him.

No thanks to a 31yr old slot Wr.

I'm sorry, I respect Tate game and he has had a nice solid career but I can't see some of our fans infatuation with him.  Maybe because he has a noticeable name?  I hope the Bills don't even waste there time with arrow down players. Tate has definitely reached that pt in his career where he is on the decline.  I think its imperative we find guys that can grow with this team .

    Wish List:

    1. Paradis or Morse

    2. Daryl Williams or Trent Brown

    3. Golden Tate or Robby Anderson (Jets are willing to go up to 12 mill a year - so we should probably have to go 14 mill a year)

    4. Brandon Graham or Ziggy Ansah (Clowney and Lawrence will be too expensive I think - but I would pick em over these two if the price is right)

    5. Thomas Davis

We could of had Sammy for that money.

I don't dislike your picks, but John Brown will not sign with Buffalo. That's what makes this an exercise in futility. I suppose you could make it more realistic and charge 5 bucks for John Brown because a drastic overpay is the only way he's coming.

I think our best bet in FA'cy is OL. Morse, James, and Trent Brown seem like realistic options. Also like to take a flier on Maxx Williams. The skill position players will likely come through the draft.

I believe $3 is overpaying John Brown. Lol

This is why he was my selection. Not so much what we would have done with him but rather it would have kept him from doing what he has done to us.

Thats fine, in that scenario it still keeps him from being Tom Brady the Bills killer, 6 time Superbowl chamo on the Patriots.

If Belicheck would of just stayed with the Jets it would of changed the course of time.

Which non-Bills' pick stung you the most on draft day?  Was it a player you really wanted, taken one spot before us?  A seemingly great pick by the Jets or Dolphins?  A guy from your alma mater, snatched up by the Patriots in the middle of the day?  A Long-Snapper who broke your heart?

My #1 has to be the Panthers taking Kuechly @ 9 in '12, just one pick before us.  A lot of mocks had us taking Mark Barron, so I was relieved when the Bucs picked him.  My relief was soon replaced with horror at the announcement of the Panthers' pick.  Remember that Christmas Eve '11, 40-14 beatdown of the Tebow/McGahee Broncos?  It made the holiday that much more enjoyable for many of us... but it came with a price.

Honorable mention to the Patriots fielding a ~75% Rutgers secondary for the past 6 years.

I dont know where to start or end but I remember vividly in 2011 and 2012 2 world class blunders by the Bills as i screamed at my TV like a mad man.

2011 3rd rd Kelvin Shepard instead of Justin Houston. I was seriously hurt from the inside with this one.

2012 the 3rd rd trade up I was ready to hear the name Russ Wilson or TY Hilton  but instead we got TJ Graham. Awful just awful.

I can go on and on with this type of thing but those 2 were like punches to my gut and face. No wonder we've been a bottom barrel organization for so long.

But other than the obvious ...

There are so many I wish we would have selected

Orakpo, Ngata, Patrick Willis, Gronk, Odell Beckham, Adrian Peterson (yes we got Lynch that year but AP was a monster!) The list goes on and on. I am now depressed.i kid. LoL ?

If we took Brady he would of ended up being a Levi Brown for us.

Too bad we don’t need a safety lol there’s some nice ones in that list.

Just my 2 cents but I’d be shocked if they even targeted more than 3-4 of the guys on that list. Unless they really want a pass rusher most of that list is no good for buffalo

I still wouldn't mind signing Landon Collins he could be used like Shaq Thompson in Mcd defense.
