  1. I was on my way to putting together a coherent response to your point, but your avatar is making me too ill. Good strategy!
  2. I sure hope so. D seems not to be a problem, and they will certainly have the tools in the toolbox for overhauling the offensive supporting cast.
  3. Sammy has never lived up to his potential, due in large part to his being unable to consistently stay on the field. A great performance will be followed up by a few weeks of sitting out with various ailments, then getting back up to speed, show a flash here or there, and so on and so forth. This week no different from wash, rinse, repeat. https://heavy.com/sports/2018/11/sammy-watkins-fantasy-how-concerning-injury/
  4. Fadingpain, here is your Friday challenge: give me just one ray of positive sunshine today about the Bills
  5. The Jets aren't exactly worldbeaters themselves in any form or fashion--Bowles is doubtless on his way out the door and their offense is in shambles as well. Darnold just finished tossing 4 picks (more than NP, imagine that!) and McCown is 4 years older than DA! I think it's a good chance that this is going to be a "get well" sort of game for the Bills regardless of who's starting, regardless of the Jets taking either of the approaches the OP imagines.
  6. I quit FF cold turkey 3 yrs ago and have never looked back—football outside of the recent Bills games has been so much more enjoyable again
  7. At 3.9 per clip, we can safely say at least we would still be outpacing McCoy’s average, so there’s that silver lining lol ?
  8. Another outlet has picked up the story too--the MMQB's take as a blurb on the end of this article, which of course included some fawning at the statue of Belichick to turn what should be a negative swipe into a New England positive: https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/11/08/nfl-coaches-hot-seat-vance-joseph-todd-bowles-jason-garrett "Apparently too many Patriots are taking the gray locker room shorts home with them, and it’s been too great a burden on the equipment staff. The solution? According to ESPN, the Patriots have now issued shorts of a truly terrible orange color. In theory, no player will want to take them outside the facility. My local gym dealt with a similar issue with towels, and it has since placed chips in the towels that track if you leave the facility with one. The Patriots’ method is much cheaper. Another stroke of genius from Bill Belichick."
  9. I feel like McD at least publicly, presents more in a manner the Pegulas prefer, and he has definitely not promised the moon before promising to simply change the culture for the better around OBD. Not saying he will pan out, just offer this as a means of explanation for the thread question. Rex promised way too much on the front end coming in--remember that 1st intro presser? Gonna build a bully, take down the Patriots, win championships sooner than later, get me a house with most annual snow fall, blah blah blah. Terry I think got tired of the blustery sideshow, Rex constantly over-promising and never being able to deliver. "Personality" will only get you so far. Don't forget too, Rex promising a significant D change for the better after year 1, when he brought in his brother in the ultimate nepotism move, really started his clock running, IMO. http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/rex-ryan-hires-brother-rob-bills-defense-coaching-staff/13zja0p1spxds19jsku38qd8os
  10. I thought that nothing happens at the Patsies complex without Bill personally signing off on it? In true Bills believer fashion, I'm going to throw out there that this is proof that the dynasty's days are numbered and there is a mutiny against their regime which will bring the whole sorry lot crashing down around TB12's ears...but in other news, the Patriots win again.
  11. As Bills fans, we are experts at taking every last drop of whatever we can squeeze out as a good memory and savor it to mentally tide us over the long winters of our discontent. For example, as many avatars on this board can attest to, JA's "The Leap" in Minnie will be one of the only memories I will try to hold onto from the 2018 season, and will publicly reference it down the road as needed, during the next rebuild, to bring an "oh yeah" and smile to many around here (hopefully), just as Adams' unlikely sideline run in '03.
  12. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it! Sinatra's version of "Jingle Bells" that our Alexa belts out by default when my kids hijack the set is quite some easy listening ?
  13. The funny thing is, almost to a man each one has claimed that they don't run a "true" 3-4 or 4-3, rather, it would be some type of hybrid set that could accomodate players schematically giving both looks based on the in-game situation. It seems like it's too simplistic to say that a D is beholden to one or the other anymore. Rexy for instance tried to run more of his father's 46 setup, and his coaching mentor Billick claimed that what personnel he had on hand dictated what his base look would be. McDermott also claims that he's comfortable with both base looks. https://buffalonews.com/2017/01/14/bills-2016-defensive-autopsy-rex-ryan/ Here's another one from Rex's Jets days claiming a similar point: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1193999-new-york-jets-why-rex-ryans-defense-is-not-a-3-4 And finally, a really good primer on what any of this jargon truly means and more specifically from which coaching tree they were made famous by, as of a few years ago: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1074050-nfl-defensive-schemes-the-basics-of-the-4-3-3-4-and-ryan-defenses
  14. Buffalo D collects a pick 6 of their own, win 10-3 in a blaze of smash mouth glory
  15. Red helmet would go great with this...
  16. But he's already turned it down because it's not like, you know, mayor of Cleveland
  17. Battle of the misfit toys at QB...if his back doesn't give out first, then I think this guy is next man up:
  18. Murph had the point yesterday that a lot of good teams still can suffer from excessive penalties, but it goes unnoticed with the ability to overcome same. When we start talking about penalties, it’s usually because we are trying to figure out what’s part of an overall failing phase of the game. If I remember right, he was saying KC is most penalized team this year so far but it’s not an issue anyone talks about because obviously playing lights out on O otherwise.
  19. The problem with purposely playing not to win in order to improve draft position is that drafting by its very nature is still a gamble with no assurances of a payoff, and in the meantime your “culture,” “process” all suffer with deteriorating morale for the ones already here and being pegged to build around. Just win baby! Or at least try your absolute best and make sure your team knows and respects your efforts to win.
  20. In other news, Bills castoffs during the Drought regain top form playing with their new franchises after applying lessons learned in Buffalo.
  21. Or cloud of snow? because you know, no snow plows
  22. ^^^^^This. Was going to launch into a similar vein but no need to reinvent the wheel. Thanks Thunderstruck
  23. The crazy part is that the template for something different has been around since Levy/Kelly here!! The Bills routinely brought out the ugly stick against whoever showed up at Rich Stadium back in the day, scoring 51 points against the Raiders here in January 91, and always bringing it against the ‘phins during the playoffs with 30+ points etc. Yes they could run the freaking ball with Thurman and that Oline, but they could also air it out just as easily, weather schmether! Bunch of stereotypical nonsense from people who don’t know that it actually gets colder/snowier in Kansas City than Buffalo on average during the course of a season. But yes, by all means let’s build a bully to play smash mouth run first and put our fans to sleep while we’re at it because the No Huddle K Gun never existed
  24. Funny thing is that as I’m streaming WGR on my lunch break or commuting down here in the A, I feel like Murph has been very critical of the Bills of late, more so than Tasker—to the point where I took notice of it because I was expecting more Chris Brown lite than anything else from him. Also, the local Atlanta media is generally more powder puff on the Falcons than WGR on Bills, IMO, even during early bad stretch this year for them
