If he was making plays … then they should have given him more playing time … particularly at the end of the season when the other DEs went missing

good point about Elam… No doubt Beane thought they had to have a CB with that pick… Maybe be learnt something from that as demonstrated with the Kincaid pick … a player that did fall …Beane picked him when they had other needs … No one can really answer what they should do at 28 this year ..because we don’t know what players will be available … even trading down should be on the table …

Feeling better about him now than this time last year … But … as you said, fumbles and drops in particular are the main issues … I wonder how many times we’ll see a Dallas type game again ? Hope it wasn’t a one time only as I loved that dominance …

what DL are going to be available at 28? A number of the few Round 1 grades are going before that pick too…

If by “restructuring “ you mean taking a pay cut …. I don’t see that happening … If you mean pushing some of his money further down the line … could happen I guess I think he is here next year regardless

I think you can add DE to that starter list with Von’s struggles…( with Von as DE 3) … Beane needs to find a solution in FA for each of those 4 spots that can start at the position if need be… perhaps they still end up with an upgrade at the position in the draft if things fall the right way,,, FA solutions could include ex players DQ , Floyd and even Rapp if the price is right … at least they won’t count against them on the comp pick formula …. They need a cheap FA option at WR … haven’t really got any favourites as yet who would come cheap enough …

When’s the latest they can realistically make the call to cut Von during the preseason ? I think you probably give him as much time as possible first to see if he has shown any improvement

Not really … considering they were just in Detroit on Thanksgiving 2 years ago …doubt they get that game again 2 years later .. Maybe they could host the Thanksgiving night game though? Haven’t done that in a while …. Maybe against 49ers?

Why the need to have such serious musings at the Pro Bowl? I mean … we all know that he isn’t the decision maker at the team and it’s not his call and he can’t see the future …. If he just says “yes and I’m looking forward to it” the media has nothing to blow out of proportion …

Looks like his base salary is $18-19m the next three years… which would be picked up by he new team . No guarantees after 2024 …so you can move on after that… It’s not big WR money anymore ….but questionable if his form over the second half of the season warrants that… I’d be thinking more like a third round pick would be the ceiling for what his trade value would be for a team to roll the dice …

Because something happened one year .. doesn’t mean that it will the next … Edward’s survived the year with no concussions… with limited playing time admittedly.. Edward’s would be crazy to stay here entrenched on the bench behind young established starters wasting his prime years …he signed before they drafted Torrence last year… probably saw a path to starting by beating out Bates .. that’s gone now …if he needs to show more playing time then here is not the best place … Didn’t Rapp start games this year when Hyde was injured ? They are going to have to get by on the cheap in a few positions in 2024 … seeing if Rapp can be a starter at Safety could be something they might go with … perhaps in conjunction with a third round safety and Poyer in the mix … would need to throw him a bit more extra money if they head down this path .. Not my preferred solution … just putting it out there as a cheap option for one of several problems they have in 2024

Edward’s is a starter in this league … he was injured in 2022… but before that had started 40 games on his rookie deal the prior three years including all 21 games in the Rams SB year .. He is very clearly behind McGovern and Torrence here …. Even if he is not leaving for the money then he needs to go elsewhere to increase playing opportunities…in the hope of making some money in his prime years .. Rapp was playing pretty well by the end of the year .. I would be interested in what was said when he came to the Bills about whether he had a starting role with the team when Poyer/Hyde moved on… if that’s not going to happen then I can’t see him staying again at the same money …

They all outplayed their contracts this year. I think the only one that might be back at that range is Jackson…who I would take back for sure .. I can see Dodson getting $5m a year from someone to be a starter Rapp and Edward’s gave them their prove it deals last year … they can start in this league …
