  1. Your general concept is very interesting. The question is reliability - how can you be sure that you're measuring what you're trying to measure. For example, the QB's willingness to pull the trigger is a variable that plays into your results, and this could skew your results. For example, playing behind similar OL's, Trent Edwards and Jay Cutler may show very different ATT's - but this could be due to Cutler's willingness to throw into coverage in cases where Edwards was not. So, the ATT would measure the overall offensive unit (OL + QB play) rather than a specific position. Also, the type of patterns used by a team would affect the stat.
  2. Link for this piece of speculation?
  3. If Whaley didn't have any say, then, um, WHY did they hire him?
  4. Please describe to me the last play that you remember Evans dropping a pass. Which game, situation, etc. Evans may have his flaws, but I can't recall a drop. Personally I think the guy has exceptional hands - practically glue-like. EDIT - After reading through this thread a bit further, it's amazing to me how many people focus on SYMPTOMS of losing football, rather than root CAUSES. Evans' production is a SYMPTOM of bad OL and QB play. It is NOT a CAUSE. Putting the Bills' offensive problems on a scale from causes to symptoms, I would say the following: causes>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>symptoms OL play -----> QB play -----> TE play ----->RB play ------> WR play
  5. Actually, I do like it better. I find it easier to run errands around town most of the year in shorts and flip flops, than in boots and a heavy coat. No shoveling either. What I really miss is the fall - crisp air and the colors on the trees.
  6. I have no doubt that many coaches' wives bring up the weather issue when they are first told that Buffalo has come calling. Honestly, when I tell people where I'm from, the weather is usually the first thing they talk about. Having said this however, I put NO credence in Shanahan's explanation of weather as the key factor in his decision. What clinched it in my mind was when he complimented the Bills as being a very well run organization.
  7. The list has to include Tommy McDonald, WR for the Eagles in the 50's and 60's. He's a six-time Pro Bowler and HOF inductee (class of 1998). McDonald was also the last non-kicker to play in the NFL without a facemask.
  8. This is pretty straightforward really. Schobel knows he's due the roster bonus, so he makes it known that he's thinking about retiring to get the Bills' attention. Once he creates doubt in the Bills' mind about whether he wants to be here, he's in a position to force a trade. Schobel's as good as gone, the question is what do we get for him.
  9. I'd thank God.
  10. At Gailey's recent press event he indicated he was not done evaluating the QB's currently on the roster. Yet we have reports from Sal Palantonio and others (if we can believe them) indicating that the Bills have contacted the Eagles expressing interest in their QB's. Obviously if the Bills are working on a trade or other form of QB acquisition they will not acknowledge it publicly - not only would this be a bit disrespectful to the QB's on their roster, but it would also signal to potential trading partners how desperate they are to make a trade (thereby reducing their negotiating position in trade talks). The Bills will only acknowledge these discussions after something is consummated. I just think that the Bills would not even have made the call to the Eagles, had they not had a clear idea of where they are headed. Thoughts?
  11. Funny - Bill Conaty is Ethan Albright's agent.
  12. 1) Bills 2) S&P 500 3) Republican candidates everywhere
  13. Yea I know !!!!!!! My question is, who is he and how does he know John Guy bullied Jauron into playing Langston Walker at LT?
  14. Back to the original article - how do we know that Guy strongarmed Jauron into playing guys he got? How do we know this is credible? Who is the author of this article?
  15. That article spouts some stuff that, if true, would require a very well placed source. So before even discussing the substance of the article I have to ask, what are the credentials of the author?
  16. In a strange turn of events, I actually agree with you on this point. ST's are overrated and (in my opinion) - quality ST's are not highly correlated to wins in the NFL. If anyone doubts this, the Bills are "exhibit A" in my argument - consistently good ST's, and the W-L record, not so much.
  17. OK, I give up. What is "fran kaliber"?
  18. Still no reply to this. I am also curious why people call it a POS.
  19. Am I the only one who thinks BillsPhan (the OP) has ties to the Bills? His posts always seem to be poorly veiled apologies for the team.
  20. That's funny. Is the money coming out of your account?
  21. 1 - When were the Bills spewing about hiring a $10 million coach? Show me one link that ties a Bills official to that statement. 2 - Show me one link that ties a Bills official to a possible trade for McNabb. 3 - The Bills hardly "opted out" of hiring Cowher. From all reports they were persistent in pushing hard for him. You can lead a horse to water but... There is a lot of stuff swirling in the media and you can't get caught up in the roller coaster because you don't really know what the Bills are thinking. What media reports had the Bills hiring Gailey before it happened? Or Doug Whaley? Or Bruce DeHaven? Or the two strength & conditioning coaches? I understand your angst but the fact is we just have to wait and see.
  22. Well stated sir.
