  1. I also loved Chris Berman's take when doing the highlites on ESPN ... As the camera showed Thurman plowing over Olivadotti on the sideline, Berman says ... " ... and Thurman Thomas ... Running over anyone EVEN ASSOCIATED WITH the Miami defense!"
  2. Hypocrite, huh? You simply cannot respond to one of my posts without hurling mindless insults, can you. (*sigh*) Must be an "Alaska thing"...
  3. You ARE mistaken. He cannot further seek to escape the worldly consequences for his actions, and then ask forgiveness after the fact. If he does, the request for forgiveness will fall on deaf, if divine, ears.
  4. Thurman Thomas once ran over seven Miami Dolphin players and their defensive coordinator, Tom Olivadotti ... But he wasn't charged.
  5. Unless you consider a person's soul more important than his wallet, which I do. "What's best for him" in my world is doing what will square it with his Creator, not his attorney. And I don't need you telling me the world isn't perfect, believe me. But "what's best for him" in the long run - read "eternity" - would be to tell his LAWYER to shut up, and do what he knows to be right. Again, we strongly disagree.
  6. As I've read all the Lynch postings ... here and in the other threads where I had posted my thoughts on the matter, having had a family member killed by a hit-and-run ... I am literally shocked at the number of postings coming down on the side of Marshawn. Here it is again, plain English and no chance for misinterpretation: You don't have the RIGHT to say 'He's probably OK, and anyhow I'm a little buzzed and it'll be more trouble than it's worth." You STOP. EVERY TIME. Regardless of the circumstances. You have hit a human being. A person. Could be someone's father ... someone's mother ... someone's son or daughter. Someone's caretaker. It's a HUMAN BEING. You STOP ... EVERY F*&KING TIME. I'll say this right now... Whereas many people in here have gotten it wrong, I'll bet any one of you my first row seats that the NFL Commissioner gets it right.
  7. I've had first row, Club Level end zone seats as my season ticket location for about twenty years. I love 'em! I remember reading a quote in a column Andy Rooney did about his end zone seats at Giants Stadium ... He said, "When you've been watching the game from the end zone for over twenty years, the view from any other angle sems odd." I'm in 219, which means I have the straight-ahead view of the JumboTron. The tunnel end zone is always your first choice. Second consideration ... Make sure you're high enough up. Club Level, first row, is about as low as you want to go. Any lower and your depth perception is altered too much ... when they're on the far side of the fifty, a two-yard run and a twenty-two-yard run will look about the same. Don't get too low unless you're willing to trade the depth perception for an up-close look at some of the scores. Third consideration ... and a lot of people forget about or never knew about ths one. Buffalo is the third windiest major city in the US. And the Ralph is situated so that the tunnel end zone is almost always the leeward end of the field. It's something I first noticed in the late 70's, then it really became obvious in the 80's ... the vast majority of scoring on passing plays took place in the tunnel end zone. I wish I could find an official stat to prove it, but I've tried and cannot. You're just going to have to take it from someone who has attended well over 200 games at Rich/Erie County/Ralph Wilson Stadium. The vast majority of TD passes - especially the long ones - happen down in our (tunnel) end. One last thought ... there ARE no bad seats at the Ralph. You're doing better than most people just by being able to say that you were THERE! I hope you enjoy the games and have a great time ... and welcome to the neighborhood.
  8. I have very strong feelings regarding people who hit a pedestrian and flee the scene. It's probably because my favorite uncle - my father's only brother - was killed this way on Hertel Avenue. The phrase "driver fled scene without stopping" in the police report was all I needed to see. You don't have the RIGHT to say "he's probably OK ... and anyhow I'm a little buzzed." That's the whole point. You stop. Every time, regardless of the circumstances. The @sshole that hit my uncle was probably buzzed - and made the same decision. And while he escaped jail time, he reserved a nice spot in hell for himself.
  9. I would add (with a personal recommendation!) ... Smitty's Pit ... Albany, NY McGeary's Irish Pub ... Albany, NY The Bayou Cafe ... Albany, NY Dick's Last Chance ... Myrtle Beach, SC Harry's Tavern ... Florence, Italy Each must be experienced to be appreciated!
  10. You say my argument is "beyond stupid" yet you don't say why, or offer any counter-point. I realize from your previous post that I am arguing with someone who thinks the police acted properly (God help us all) but that's not an argument ... Less name-calling and a counter-point, please. For now, I am assuming you're calling my statement "beyond stupid" simply because it doesn't agree with your point of view.
  11. See my posting above. Even for a trained marksman, it's not easy to fire 31 rounds into the side and rear-side windows of a car being driven AT you. I think the "he drove a car at me" excuse is just the new version of "I thought he was going for a gun." In the case of the latter, often (as was the case here) there WAS NO GUN. But it's much easier to prove the guy had a CAR. We had a New Year's Eve killing in Albany a few years back where an innocent bystander got killed by a cop firing a gazillion rounds at a guy trying to evade. The cop got off because he used the "he was trying to kill me with his car" routine. It's an excuse. If someone's driving a car AT you, you're getting out of the way - NOT firing 50 rounds at the driver. A typical car weights about 2,800 -4,000 pounds. A shell - or even fifty shells - from a Sig 9mm isn't going to stop it or change its course ...
  12. Hey, Bud ... A prayer from me to the Man for you. And I wanna add something ... to anyone who hasn't yet, QUIT SMOKING! I did a pack-a-day for 30 years, and I quit a year ago. It's now been one year and three weeks, and I am never going back. If you smoke and you're reading this, do it for the people you love. And for the people who love YOU.
  13. And yet ... Oddly enough, if you did "drive a car AT me" ... despite being a decent shot ... I would find it difficult to fire 31 rounds into the front side and rear-side windows. Call it a vectoral equation issue, I guess ... Look, I guess we're always going to disagree on the Bell case. For the record, though, I come down clearly on the side of placing the greater responsibility for measured action in the hands of the party who actually was in possession of loaded guns. We have created a situation now in America where a cop can basically shoot anyone as many times as they see fit - and all they have to do to get off is say something like "well, I thought I heard him say to his companion that a guy at a party he was at once said something to his buddy about reading a magazine article about a guy who said he was maybe considering buying a GUN" and ... it's justified! It's got to stop. It's simply got to stop. Let me throw a hypothetical at you - using myself as an example. I am partially deaf. And I find it very hard to tell what someone is saying if I can't see their lips while they're speaking. The way things are now, a cop standing behind me could say "Freeze. Hands up, now." When I did not comply in .0000045 seconds, he can then shoot me 167 times and ... get off? I think not. Oh, don't take that the wrong way... He probably WOULD get off. But I wouldn't consider it 'justified." The cops have too much leeway. Way too much. As long as they're never held accountable, it's BOUND to happen again. Maybe not next week ... maybe not even next month. But it WILL happen again.
  14. Hardy's a possession receiver, and he's getting Bob Chandler's old number. A good omen!
  15. I just noticed. Your avitar is the same as my wallpaper. Great pic!
  16. ... As opposed to the well-thought-out, carefully reasoned act of firing two full clips into a car full of unarmed people? Hmmm...
  17. He based his opinion almost entirely on his belief that we took a seventh-round TE in Round Four ... Other sources are giving them good rviews. I think MK is making too much of the Fine "reach" ... and yes, I DO agree it was a reach. But don't define our draft by that alone, Mel ...
  18. I watched the first day with my little nephew David ... seven months old, already knows more than Kiper. When they took Hardy, little David crapped his pants. I hope that's not a sign. In the fourth when they took Fine, I almost crapped mine ...
  19. Yeah, I've read all the stuff about him being a projected seventh-rounder. But I'll tell you what ... the Bills didn't spend a fourth round pick on this guy because they DIDN'T know something. I am going into this one saying I trust our personnel people. This'll be a nice little litmus test. The word I keep reading is "versatile" ... supposedly he has the potential to play a little H-back and/or pure fullback.
  20. FACT: Bell was unarmed. FACT: None of his companions were armed. FACT: The cops shot fifty times. One of these days, they're going to actually discover what the high-end ... the "shots limit", so to speak ... for cops shooting unarmed people is. Right now, all we know is that it ain't fifty ... I'm seeing a lot of "the cops were right" and "justice was served" posts here and elsewhere. I wonder if any of those idiots could look Bell's family in the eye and say that.
  21. Wow. Seeing it almost made a tear come to my eye. And not because it reminded me of the '68 team ...
  22. I was surprised TE didn't dominate. Seriously, is anyone out there HAPPY with our current TE situation?????
  23. I've got mixed feelings on this one. On the one hand, it ain't Rosenhaus' fault if Ralph won't pay market. I am coining a new phrase for that, by the way... I call it "going Golisano" ... On the other hand, I have always considered 'holding out' an unethical act. Mixed feelings here ...
  24. And the winning entry is ... WIN Sept. 7 Seattle Seahawks - TBD Party is a happy post-game! WIN Sept. 14 at Jacksonville Jaguars - David Garrard is fat & happy from big contract; - After game, he's just fat. WIN Sept. 21 Oakland Raiders - Raiders still reeling from loss to Canisius in Week Two. WIN Sept. 28 at St. Louis Rams - Country starts to take notice. WIN Oct. 5 at Arizona Cardinals - Country really starts to take notice. **************************** Oct. 12 Bye ************ LOSS Oct. 19 San Diego Chargers - Gotta be realistic ... sorry. It is agreed that Petrino will be - the front end of the horse, and Darren will just be himself. WIN Nov. 2 New York Jets - You simply cannot lose to the Jets in Buffalo. LOSS Nov. 9 at New England Patriots* - More "gotta be realistic"... Again, sorry. WIN Nov. 17 (Mon.) Cleveland Browns - This will be a rare loss in a very good year for the Browns. LOSS Nov. 23 at Kansas City Chiefs - To win a contest like this, you HAVE to find an upset. We haven't - travelled well to KC since Willie Lanier was chasing OJ around. LOSS Nov. 30 San Francisco 49ers - To cement a win in a contest like this, you have to also identify - that one game we've had every f'ing year since 1968 that - we "should've won" ... WIN Dec. 7 Miami Dolphins (at Toronto) - Bills fans miss the days when, with the exchange rate, - this would've counted as 1.45 wins American ... LOSS Dec. 14 at New York Jets - Hurts playoff seeding slightly. WIN Dec. 21 at Denver Broncos - Broncos and Bills are headed in different directions. WIN Dec. 28 New England Patriots* - I am praying the Patsies* are 15-0 coming in. It'd be sweeter that way ... - ----- We go 11 - 5 !
