  1. One thing - and only one thing I disagree with here. He will have to show IMPROVEMENT over the 2nd half. Last year, Carson Palmer started to show brilliance in the SECOND HALF of the season. This year, Cinci's 3-0 and Palmer looks great. If Losman CANNOT show marked, radical growth between now and December, then it becomes the Todd Collins scenario. (That's a MUCH better analogy than any Rob analogy which people were tossing around carelessly yesterday, because the Bills cut their losses with Collins after ONE year as a starter.)
  2. It wasn't JP who gave up over 230 yards rushing. It wasn't JP who made the decision not to line up four receivers against a team that had 3 DB's out. It wasn't JP who decided that Jerman would be a better start at RT than Jason Peters. Coming back from Buffalo, Harv reminded me that last year ... after four games ... a lot of people in Cinci were screaming for Carson Palmer's head, too.
  3. Me too. I had to put my Shadow to sleep some years back. I know the feeling. I love my cats dearly, but it hurts like hell when you have to say 'good bye'...
  4. AMEN, AMEN ... and AMEN! The format is stupid ... and actually a little annoying. A patchwork of shots - all out of context - with some country singer's take on top of it? Christ ... just give us highlites. Even if you only show ONE play from the various Sunday games, it's better than this crap. Hey, I wonder if they CAN kill it now.
  5. I loved his quote after the game regarding the play ... "In practice, it always works against OUR defense ... and our defense is pretty good!" Classic. Oh ... great party ... great game ... gand a reat new QB.
  6. Losman's got wheels, and he's looking to establish himself as a leader. I'll go with an 11-yard J. P. losman scramble up the gut when all the receivers are covered in the red zone ...
  7. Like Lee Iacocca says to Snoop Dog in the commercial, "I'm not sure what you just said, but it sounds like now everyone gets a great deal..."
  8. The "Katrina" ... Ride it out, hold your breath, and - when it's over - hope you don't catch anything!
  9. Got great seats for September 17th at the Pepsi in Albany. Not cheap ... FACE was 181 smackers! I remember seeing them in 1975 for under fifteen bucks,. It'll cost more than that to PARK next Saturday night for the Albany show. (*sigh*) Oh well ... the event for me is more historical than musical. I've seen 'em quite a few times, and I am (finally) SURE this will be their farewell ... their no-really-we-mean-it-after-this-tour-we're-done farewell tour. But I had thought that before and been wrong. Anyone else checking out this tour?
  10. To paraphrase that great commercial ... "Son, I don't have all the answers. But everything you need to know about life, you can learn by following Daddy's favorite NFL team ..."
  11. Another take ... Poor Tom. He's in - and the NFL is in - a funny position. You almost HAVE to move the franchise. And - looking at nothing other than economics and being pragmatic - now is the time. BUT .... Now you're (the NFL and Saints ownership) in a position similar to a guy who waits too long to break up with a chick. Suddenly, she suffers some terrible personal illness or tragedy. Now you CAN'T break up with her, or you'll look like a bastard. So here's what you do. Move the Saints. Now. Announce that once the relief/clean-up efforts are well along - say, a year or most likely two - the city of New Orleans will get a franchise. Announce that the city of New Orleans will retain exclusive rights to the name "Saints" and the crescent logo. Need to keep the number of teams even? The LA franchise could come in at the same time. Hey ... it could happen.
  12. Psyched! Cannot wait. Opening Day snuck up on me this year. But I'm ready for the beginning of the JP Era. I look forward to seeing everyone Sunday! Harv ("Albany,ny" ) and I will probably be driving back to Albany right after the game ends ... but before the game ... that's TBD Time! Harv says he can drink more Jack Daniel's on a bad day than any of you can on a good day. I'll bring the Jack ...
  13. Little Feat is playing (free ... the Live@Five series) the Corning Preserve! The weather should be perfect by then ... It's on a beautiful stretch of the Hudson ... What could be better? I know ... "if you give me ... weed, whites and wine ..."
  14. The most valuable part of the package to me was always the bus that took you to & from the Ralph from Dick Road. It was nice to be able to just get to the train station here in rensselaer and be covered pretty much all the way to your seats at the game. Demand? They sold out very quickly when available. I'll miss 'em ...
  15. Amen. Best attitude at work is "live your life for the sixteen hours you spend outside these walls." - -My job?... - -- THE GOOD: It's a lot like doing complex math puzzles that start with a word problem, which I always liked. It's cool starting with raw data and trying to spot patterns, relationships & trends - especially where others haven't spotted them. It's also satisfying at the end when you look at what you started with and where it led you and go "wow." Plus, they can't bring the farms and shopping centers here into the office to be appraised, so I get out a lot ... - -- THE BAD: I work in a bureaucracy. 'Nuff said. If they found out I just spent ten minutes to hop onto TBD to see what's up and share a post, they'd immediately schedule a one-hour meeting with four or five well-paid people that would wind up costing more (time & salary) than the problem it's addessing ...
  16. Put me down for one GENERAL spot! - ***PetrinoInAlbany*** - - Quick question: If I come out on the bike, can I just put it somewhere near the tent to keep an eye on it ? I need to put it somewhere where it'll be OK until way after game time, because I never jump on it unless I'm sobre, straight, and rested ... John
  17. Who cares? Either way, let the beating continue.... 313208[/snapback] ~ SilverNRed If you think that what the blow-hard, know-it-all, chatroom commandos in here are doing to me constitutes "beating", well... then you must've really loved the way our Bills "beat" the crap out of the Cowboys in the Super Bowl in Pasedena. Hell, we even gave them another beating again the next Super Bowl in Atlanta, but not as bad ... Let the beating continue indeed!
  18. Again, "coward" is an insult. But while you don't deserve a response, I shall give one anyway ... The people making the decision to absolve and bestowing the medal answer directly to the Commander-In-Chief of the United States Armed Forces. Now, given that, did you really expect it to turn out any other way?
  19. What I've noticed is that the posts that generate the most and the nastiest responses are actually the ones where nobody seems to have a valid counter-argument against the poster. It's kind of hard to condone what I was railing against, so why not default to name calling. Hey, Darrin says I'm a "fool" and you say my post was "dumb". Where I come from, that does not constitute debate. Try again later ...
  20. If by "fool" you mean not condoning the shooting of injured, unarmed people, then I'll wear the badge proudly. By the way, being outnumbered doesn't make me wrong. So go ahead and insult me if that makes YOU feel better.
  21. Wow. I didn't realize this was still up here. Apparently my opinion was SO weak that it prompted 2,436 views AND 137 responses. Must've struck quite a nerve with the "kill 'em all" crowd in here, huh? Oh, and the reason I declined to talk politics at the Lot 1 parties was ecaxtly that. Thank you anyway, though ... Oh, and to the name-calling idiots ... This strengthens your argument ... um ... HOW, again?
  22. Finally ... a common sense post in a "union" thread. The unions are a convenient demon on this board. Problem in their logic, though... Right now, only 13% of the American work force is unionized. Yet, WE are the cause of all labor problems? Seems a bit inconsistent with reality. I'm a union member, and most of the PPP regulars are likely NOT if you're posting in here. Yet, THEY are going to tell ME what unions are all about? Did it ever occur to the union-bashers that patronage and corruption in city and county government ITSELF might be more the cause of "no show" jobs? Of course not... blame the unions. We have seen "no show" jobs here in Albany, too. Know who's fighting the hardest to eliminate them? CSEA & PEF. Yeah, the unions. The next time you feel like bashing a union, ask yourself if what's really bothering you is that YOU want what WE'RE fighting for. Fair wages. Safe working conditions. Reasonable benefits. And integrity in the workplace. Some day, the other 87% of you will wake up and realize what our grandfathers figured out many decades ago. If you want to trust the stewardship over the forty or fifty years of your life that you'll be working to corporations' consciences or politicians' integrity, you're probably not going to like the outcome. But, hey ... if they farm out your job to someone in India, you can always blame the unions. Right? Jeesh.
  23. I think what we'll be looking at is promotions and career advancements. One of the hallmarks of this administration is that the worse your blunder, the higher the rewards. Bremer got a Medal of Freedom. The primary mover & shaker in the torture controversy is now Attorney General. The guy who spearheaded the movement to tell the UN to "piss off" is now our UN Ambasador. My guess is that they'll identify the person who told the most and the worst lies, and make him the Director of the new Department of Truth.
