NFL Week #1 - Bills at the Rams - 2nd Half Thread

So predictable. Need to stop this rotating backs. They have been nearly unstoppable on drives with motor. Just keep it rolling. -

Yep. Sucks Elam could not beat him out. We need tre back. Benford is a good tackler but he lacks speed and agility in coverage. -

This has been motor. They just never commit to him. Next series will be moss. Then the next cook. -

Why you keep singletary on field -
Consensus of this thread: Spector and Bernard and the zero NFL downs played are good Edmunds and Martinez with ~150 tackle seasons and pro bowls are bad Funny how much we value the unknown.

Painful

We need depth at LB. Insurance policy if Edmunds does not resign - assuming Blake is healthy and back at his pre-21 season form.

Beane addresses the 53- man roster decisions
ngbills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
I dont put much weight in pre-season games. The entire Bills offense looked like HOFer's vs Denver. I base it more on Beane saying it was a tough decision and hopefully the right one. Will suck to see him have a decent year somewhere while we are light at the position. The reports were he was snatched by CIN. See how that plays out. -
Beane addresses the 53- man roster decisions

OJ Howard is my least favorite move. Especially hearing Beane say it came down to the wire. If it was such a tough choice I would have kept him and put Sweeney or Morris on the PS. Paying him anyway so could have cut him anytime if needed. -
That is true. I also think "fans" can see what RB and WR do in pre-season games. Where the stuff the guys at other positions do is much more subtle.

Funny guys like Blackshear and Hodgins are the guys many wanted on the roster. McCloud, Tenuta, and Owen people hated and they are the ones that get signed.

Brandon and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week

A few people saying things does not mean anything. Ask 100 people and there will be different opinions. If 5 of 100 say something that should not qualify as everyone, so many or even why are people saying this. Its 5 of 100 peoples opinions. Opinions are allowed. If you think some of the Bills moves are bad this weak that is allowed. It does not mean you think Beane sucks or prefer Whaley. The OJ Howard move kind of blows. Oh well, it happened. Would be nice to have that one back. Hopefully Saffold and Crowder turn out top be good moves. Araiza situation is a mess. Its a national story that spun out of control and the Bills got roped in. Something you normally wont to avoid and many out there think the Bills handled it poorly. It will blow over soon enough. -
Most have forgotten that he started 15 games as a rookie. At one time he was considered promising...so the other lesson is dont bank too much on one year wonders or a few preseason game wonders for that matter. Hopefully this is not where Spencer Brown winds up.

Cody Ford will be a career back up that gets starts due to injuries. There are a ton of Cody Ford's in the league. A 5th round pick sounds fair.

James Cook is going to be a major problem
ngbills replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have a lot of hope for Cook. The one concern I have so far is he reminds of CJ Spiller. The way he plays and the way he is wired. Does not seem to get very amped up and hard to tell how much he wants it. -
Agreed. Allen (not rookie Allen) on most of the drought rosters and we are making the playoffs many of those years. We rarely had horrible teams - only won less than 6 games only 3 times in those 17 years. Most were simply mediocre teams with no QB or even good teams with no QB.

Losing Kumerow would not be devastating? But Aaron Rodgers loves him and he would instantly make GB the super bowl favorites - sarcasm here.

Was that Zach Moss run actually impressive?
ngbills replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is why one play, one game, limited anything is meaningless. You could put a high school football player on the field and if the set up is right they break off a 50 yard run. Broken coverage and a high school QB throws an 80yd TD. This is running and throwing, which many people can do. Its not something that you only need to see once to be impressed. Its about doing it consistently better than 99% of the rest of the world.
