  1. Thank you, I thought I was crazy for a second?
  2. What does that have to do with Reuben Foster and him being a child?
  3. Trust me I am not. I am sure Alabama is fine institution, just that Reuben Foster may not be a beacon of academic excellence. Plus, didnt you bring up their academic prowess in response to someone questioning how an Athlete of Saban's at Alabama could never be suspended because of how prestigious the school was academically (sarcasm from OP)? You win dude, the 49ers should be grateful for the 10 games (they may) get from Foster this year and even more ecstatic when their defensive captain returns next off-season to (maybe) be able to enter 2019 fresh and ready for a 16 game season with no drama/suspensions. In fact, it's too bad we passed on him, I would have much rather had an athlete of his caliber and a person with such a strong head on his shoulders to lead our defense over Tre White. Us and the rest of the NFL was crazy to pass on him for that "shoulder injury" that just keeps nagging him to this day... Unfortunate situation that same "injury" (maturity and suspensions) scouts could foresee being an issue just cost him a few games. Roll Tide! Go Bills, thank God we didn't touch the dude, problem city.
  4. Thank you so much for this.... Maybe the term "character" was a bit oversold and overstated but this ^ is EXACTLY what I was trying to convey... Unfortunately, you cannot EVER have ANYTHING negative to say about Alabama alumnus... In fact, it makes me that much more grateful to have AJ McCarron come season time because I really enjoy his opinions on TBD. However, with that being said your post is exactly why I would not touch Foster... Like I stated a ton. His decision making reflects poorly on how people (myself and what I assume to be the majority of teams that saw him fall to 31) view him... There is absolutely NO WAY that his shoulder is the primary reason he fell to 31... He started the season ready to play... No team passes on supposed elite talent when they have an injury that "limits" them to starting week one and playing like a ROY candidate... Just admit it man, Foster makes terrible decisions and his maturity, character or whatever you want to call it, is now costing him games! ^ Another testament to his decision making and judgement. He has literally been involved in multiple off-field incidents that have either correlated to assault, possession, traffic violation and domestic violence... ALREADY... IN HIS ROOKIE YR OFF SEASON AND YEAR ONE alone... I mean what it is going to take, an OJ-esque type performance, for you to believe that he cannot be trusted and is not the quality of man you may give him credit for... which solely seems to stem from his 3yrs (2 starting) at Alabama, where he left early. Why would it be so wrong to say that relying on him would be terrible because he is unreliable and immature. Having him on the Bills would be a massive liability due to his decision making skills, the same way that it is to the 49ers, who can not count on him for 16 games due to injuries AND legal issues/league related issues? and I am sure that Reuben Foster exemplifies all of those traits... Roll Tide!
  5. Meh, the new registration date was for June 30 of this year and he was arrested in April so they should not have charged him for it... and although it seems as though they prematurely charged him for the non-registered weapon with the high capacity magazine, he pled down and it does not say why (I am only curious)? Also, due to the injunction that saved him, it was by less than 60days which IMO still cuts it too close for more, for dealing with that type of unnecessary crap. Furthermore, it does not say but I would love to know if the gun was found in a safe or out when the police searched his home... In a gun safe they would have required a warrant, which they would have not likely been able to obtain without a cause they did not have. I personally believe that had the gun been in said safe, it would have never likely been found. Thus avoiding the entire false charge. He is a pro athlete buy a gun safe and lock it up, then when this lady lies and you have her recant, there is literally nothing to charge you for because the gun was locked up. It may seem stupid but how people treat gun safety is something I would use to view their responsibility for owning a gun, in particular one of that nature. It is terrifying that I would be paying a person who would knowingly (again I am totally assuming the weapon was found unsecured due to the articles I have read and no reference of a safe or anything else) have the decision making skills to have something like an AR-15 (knowingly in CA who is obviously not a gun friendly state) not locked up says enough to me about whether I should be taking the gamble on employing him as my MLB or at any other position. In Reuben's case this only illustrates exactly why I would not touch him.... Again the point is not a moral contradiction with him smoking weed or having an AR-15. Or whether, I think he is wrong or not. My point is he brings A LOT of **** with him... His fault or not, I dunno? However, it seems as though regardless of the off-field issue, he is rounding the bases for dealing with them (i.e., drug charge, weapons charge, DV charge, etc.) and although I am doing my best to not judge. If it quacks like a duck, then it may be a duck... In this case, please don't let me offend your Alabama love affair with ANY alum (who cannot possibly be an uninsurable or shady person because that would be crazy) by stating that duck in this particular metaphor is the equivalent to problem or headache. So, to be clear, Reuben Foster attracts a lot ****. It seems as though, he is the cause of or directly involved or apart of all of it. In fact, those various types of **** are now beginning to add up and it is costing him games, guilty or not... These seem to be for things that should not necessarily be crimes (weed in 2018 c'mon and legally purchased weapons, I know). However, his decisions to have these things around him and/or put himself in these situations is concerning and I would not want him on the Bills. Gun charge or not, the fact that he was involved with the entire situation (extorting him and all) and had the gun there IN ADDITION his already multiple other incidents he has had (again, see NFL combine, arrest in AL (no judgment other than knowing you are a new player coming off of an incident with weed and weed is illegal in your home state, be more careful... esp. given the combine) and affinity for law enforcement, in year one already... I am happy we did not go near him. I appreciate the article, it was a great find but due to the combination of everything to do with the circumstances I'm not in.
  6. ^ Well said... I feel the same way but its like im waiting for the big 6 game suspension season one everytime I see his name on the ticker
  7. Not at all, but I will assume that someone who owns such a weapon and is naive enough to move from Alabama to the Bay without knowing in advance what the law/rules are would take more caution... Esp, since the gun charge was in CA with notoriously strict gun laws (which he still broke, the gun charge was just kicked out due to an injunction, still illegal), would be quick-witted enough or have had someone in his camp who protected him enough... Him smoking weed in SF is not the problem... Him having a weapon (and magazine) that the state says is illegal and him not being cognizant enough or not caring enough to (conform it or to just hide it better)are the problem. The combine left a bad taste (arguing with an employee? For real dude? At the Combine) for me. I'm not sure I ever remember an athlete getting asked to go home because he had an attitude with medical staff, ever. Followed by the incident(s) for whatever reason(s). Its not the mistakes, its that he cannot figure how to not make mistakes (in general). There is no way he is just this bad at getting caught. Let me rephrase. Although his character may be excellent and Reuben Foster may be held in high regard by all of his peers, coaches and constituents. As a GM or owner, I would require a TON on protection and or fallback plans for me to have ever drafted him in the first round AND/OR ever depend on him to be the leader of my defense. Although his character may be excellent, his poor judgment and questionable decision making seem to shed a poor light on that character and without the opportunity to get to know him myself, I fear that the image he portrays of himself in regard to that character will likely have a negative impact on his career and cost him games because of it. As a result, I would never invest money or accountability into him (yet/without proof (i.e., not getting in trouble and/or having 2-3 incidents in one calendar yr(your first yr in particular)) because his decision making reflects poorly on his character. Unfortunately, for whatever reason(s), he SEEMS to have the type personality and/or character that gravitates him toward legal issues that he otherwise could have avoided... Not my cup of tea
  8. It's most definitely not him smoking pot, especially given where he is located (it is asinine to hold him to a higher moral standard because his job says it is illegal). However, if I was telling a person that their livelihood (and such a high paycheck) depended on passing a drug test and/or not being charged legally for (insert crime, regardless of moral high ground) I would COUNT on him to follow whatever rules are in place. like, if you live in CA, maybe do not purchase an assault rifle that does not meet the standards of the state. Regardless of the how strict that law has it, he became a millionaire and if the gun was recreational (which is fine too, if it were legal) he would be better served just spending his money A.conforming the weapon to code or B. going to a range nearby (I am sure he coud find the funds with his rookie deal for such a hobby)... My beef with him is all about dependability and reliability and after the incident at the combine, the diluted drug test (again not judging, just judging the poor timing of the bad test and/or the inability to provide a clean (fake or not, who cares) sample), the domestic violence issue that was later retracted and the subsequent illegal weapon that was found thereafter... All red flags for the player that, I TOOK in Rd 1 after everyone else passed and made the defensive Captain and leader of my team... Mind you this is only yr one... Sorry but hard pass, you cant count on him for **** and his gravity toward **** alike will deter his career. Either he or his camp has to know better/protect him from such stupid situations and that is exactly why I am grateful we did not add him. By the way, he is an absolute monster that I love to watch play.
  9. I seriously thank the lord that we chose character at the end of round one rather than the elite talent that slipped because of it. Don't get me wrong a talented player is worrth some headache however, this guy (I know the incident is old) cannot keep his nose out of it and I believe he will wash out or become a marginal talent due to so much time missed and dependability (a la PacMan) before he hits 5yr in the NFL
  10. https://www.49ers.com/news/nfl-suspends-49ers-lb-reuben-foster-for-two-games?sf193088884=1
  11. I would absolutely move on him with the extra fourth... He is 6'1 and gives us the extra rangy secondary member we need. In addition to adding a potential 1rd talent we take a low risk flyer. However, a third seems high...
  12. This is all true however... We also used that second from him to capitalize on pulling the trigger to draft (what should be both of) our new offensive and defensive captains and EJ played a huge part in getting us to the playoffs... I believe Beane makes that trade solely BECUASE everyone else had such a high view of him (his value was high). He KNEW that in order to gamble on keeping Sammy (with the hope that last year or this year upcoming year would validate his draft pedigree) he would be doing so at the risk of one or both of those coming as lost seasons knowing last year was our final with Tyrod and we would not even have what his view of a franchise QB until this year (Allen) and he may not even play! This is all in what would have been Sammy's contract year... With that being said, It would have been silly to gamble on everything turning out (as predicted) with Sammy because in doing so we would not be obtaining the pick(s)/player we used for Allen AND Edmunds and we would be doing so at the risk of making a very historically unhealthy Sammy Watkins the face of our franchise at what would have likely been AT LEAST $13million/yr plus (see $15million/r in KC) on a long term deal. I am no NFL GM but that seems like the opposite angle a FO takes when attempting to rebuild the team.
  13. I agree... Definitely a drop in OL however, WR is a push, if anything it got better bc KB is healthy. Also, our front seven production was putrid, then we traded Dareus (not that he hurt or helped too much in that sense however, he is 340lbs of our D-line...) and our starting LB were Brown and Humber, how can our front seven NOT BE a massive upgrade. Yes, the real question mark is QB but statistically ANY 16 game starter should have a comparable line to Tyrod. Was he better than average? Yes of course but was his production unattainable by any of the three we have in stable? Absolutely not. If any of the three stay healthy I expect similar results in the W-L column but with a vastly different look to get there (scheme/gameplan/etc.). I liked Tyrod but he, E. Wood and Richie were by nooooooo means the only reasons we will go from 9-7 to something like 4 wins or less. These predictions blow my mind...
  14. Supposedly healthy and leaner now but yea, I know... That is a looong time
  15. No. However, I believe I am not a descendant of a lizard either.
  16. http://www.sacbee.com/sports/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/article213445754.html (about 1/2 way down) What does everyone think about the ole 'kick the tires' thread, if this were to happen? Im all for interior line help that is young, strong and has a pedigree (1st rd pick, 25yo, Outland winner)?
  17. I literally lol, thank you. Edit: found this on Sammys Twitter https://solarismodalis.com/reptilians-departure-from-earth-interesting-story/
  18. Same same... He was a military brat raised near Rochester with a mom from Tonawanda who LOOOOVEED her Bills... As a So. Arizona native, he most definitely made me this way... Plus it's not like it was hard to not like the Cardinals in Arizona, especially when it was the early 90's. Regardless I am a Bills fan for life and this yr him and I will get matching Bills tattoos to commemorate our fandom together (retro standing buffalo for me and new logo for him).
  19. Him and I played for the same HS coach (whom I later coached with after I finished playing in college) and he has nothing but great things to say about him and his family. Levi is an excellent kid who his very determined and very intelligent. Assuming he can stay healthy, I cannot see the business side of this relationship prevailing over the football side of Levi's talent and work ethic. I think he will be here as a productive special teamer who will surprise and earn PT later.
  20. You literally hit all the points I had planned on making on the head. Albeit I believe that the LorAx is nearly done as a LB however, he will benefit from the rest of the motley crue and still play productive football... If we utilize him as a pass rusher and remove him when we are primarily in a nickel front (which I think is the plan...). Although I am skeptical about Star's presence being 180 degrees from last year, I do think he will be a MORE than sufficient piece to the puzzle and most definitely open things up for Jerry Hughes, who unfortunately has ALWAYS generated a ton of pressure and produced a surprisingly low number of actual sacks. He is still very talented and sacks are just stats (I know I am rationalizing because I know he is productive and I like him... lol). Real excitement/apprehension goes to Trent Murphy who I am curious to see how he does. In that same vein, how Shaq competes for PT and stats due to the nature of his impending contract year. Our defense will surprise early on if we are healthy and rather than us hanging in there for games and pundits not understanding why, I believe there will be concrete pieces of evidence in the form of bonafide play-makers that validate our Bills D this year! Go Bills!
